Darragh Ennis sends message to fellow The Chase star The Vixen

The newest member of The Chase family had a message for Jenny Ryan – as she came unstuck against a ‘super team’.

A trio of great players – Eva, Emma and Gary – managed to bag £20,000 in the prize pot, despite saying goodbye to fellow contestant Jack earlier in the show.

They then went on to score 20 points for the final Chase – which ultimately proved too much for The Vixen, who still had 3 to get right when time ran out.

It seems Darragh Ennis was watching – and said she ‘had her work cut out’ for her during The Chase competition, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The newest Chaser, also known as The Menace, tweeted thoughts on tonight’s episode from his Twitter account @bones_giles.

After contestants Eva and Emma managed to take back £7,000 each, The Menace called them ‘clever women.’ He said: “Well, some clever women on #TheChase this afternoon!”

Darragh then followed up his tweet with another comment and message for fellow-Chaser Jenny Ryan, also known as The Vixen.

He added: “£14k for two players is really excellent. If Gary gets back this might be tough for Jen. #TheChase.”

And: “Nice final question for the chef and £20k for three players is a super team. Jen might have her work cut out here! #TheChase.”

The Menace predicted correctly as the team – Gary, Emma and Eva – managed to beat The Vixen.

The team managed to get 20 steps in the final chase and won with three steps remaining.

In the final chase there were five attempts to push back and the team executed three of them.

The three took home the prize of £20,000 between them, making it £6,666 each

Bradley Walsh said: “Well played, brilliant, £20,000 smackers, absolutely sensational.” He added: “Chaser, great match by the way great match.”

Jenny Ryan said: “Really well played team, by setting 20 you gave me just a little bit too much to do when I had a couple of mental arithmetic style questions in there.”

The Chase viewers congratulated the team on their win on Twitter, with one fan @Zonechase saying : “A very well-deserved victory for today’s team! 20 is an excellent score, and executing 3/5 pushbacks put even more pressure on the Vixen.”

Another @RealCameronMcUK said: “Very well played to the team tonight against The Vixen tonight on The Chase.”

And @charybdis1966 said: “Well done team – happy for them all – especially the hero of the round: Emma. #TheChase”

The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV tomorrow.

Writing in a post on his blog, Paul said: “In the time since my Parkinson’s started, I have been ludicrously busy, and fully intend to keep Chasing, keep writing and performing comedy, keep quizzing and keep being hopeless at Tasks.”

He continued: “Dancing on Ice is, I suspect, out of the question. A lot of people have asked, ‘What can I do to help?’ The answer is to treat me exactly the same as before.”

Alan Titchmarsh gives fellow gardeners advice on growing plants from seeds

“Then you must try and keep it growing evenly.”

Alan recommended finding a part of your garden where the soil is “good”.

If you don’t have good soil in your garden, then you need to work on making it better with some homegrown or shop-bought compost.

“Work it into the soil, make sure it’s got decent light,” Alan added.

James Bond: George Lazenby pays tribute to fellow 007 Timothy Dalton on his 75th birthday

They were the two shortest-serving James Bond stars with George Lazenby’s only outing in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Timothy Dalton’s two missions being 1987’s The Living Daylights and 1989’s Licence To Kill. Nevertheless, both official 007 actors and their films are fondly remembered and enjoyed by Bond fans all around the world. Now today marks Dalton’s 75th birthday and Lazenby has paid tribute to his fellow Bond.
Sharing a picture of himself with Dalton from 2013’s launch of the annual BritWeek Festival ‘A Salute To Old Hollywood’, Lazenby wrote: “From one fella to another… Happy birthday to Timothy Dalton.

“Tim, I hope it’ll be a good one for you and the rest of family. Looking forward to our next rendezvous. Love George x.”

A fan commented: “The two unappreciated Bonds, yet they made two of the best Bond films.”

While others wrote “Top Tier 007s!” and “My two favourite Bonds!”

Lazenby himself turned 80-year-old in September 2019 and thanked fans with a video message.

He tweeted: “Thank you one and all for the kind birthday wishes, didn’t know I have so many friends. Love and best wishes to all of you. George.”

In the video, the Bond star said: “Hi I just wanted to say thank you for all the people who’ve wished me well on my 80th birthday. And I hope you all have one, one day yourself.”

Aside from his milestone birthday, 2019 marked the 50th anniversary of Lazenby’s 007 film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.

Mark continued: “There were two very different versions of Dalton’s third film. One version was a taut thriller and a story that harkened back to the classic Bond films.

“The other story was a bit broader. I would characterise it as an action-comedy. For instance, there’s one scene where Bond goes to the rodeo and he disguises himself as a cowboy.”

The Bond expert even explored a possible fourth Dalton movie, written by Richard Smith called Reunion with Death, that would have been set in Japan.

He added: “It was a lovely story, with a haunting ending. It would have also featured the cinematic debut of Loelia Ponsonby, Bond’s secretary from the novels.”

The Bond expert’s new book also looks at a completely different story that might have worked for Dalton’s first 007 outing.

He said: “In it, Dalton’s Bond would have been paired with a senior agent who was going to show Bond the ropes. That story wasn’t made because Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli, the shrewd and beloved producer of the series, reasoned that audiences wanted to see a seasoned James Bond who was in full command of his powers.

“When Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson made Casino Royale, they told a story about Bond’s early adventures, but they did so by still honouring Broccoli’s wishes.

“Their solution was to make Bond adept at spy-craft but still not a fully formed man. Bond was raw and undisciplined, but he was still a skilled operative. It was an ingenious solution.”

Bare Knuckle FC newcomer Paige VanZant squirts cream on herself while bigging up bow-out of fellow brawler and ex-UFC star Garcia

Ex-UFC star Paige VanZant has teased her legion of followers on Instagram with a racy story involving her squirting cream on herself, telling her fans that she was looking forward to a bare-knuckle card featuring Leonard Garcia.

The former UFC starlet-turned-Bare Knuckle scrapper sent followers on Instagram wild before playing her part in advertising the latest event by her new promotion, the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

After pushing the BKFC 16 card, she then shared a post from BKFC with a line that several of its stars had used during the day, echoing: “Bloody Good Main Event”.

The headline fight saw Leonard Garcia, who is also formerly of the UFC, go all the way in what many suspect was his final fight with a majority decision (50-45, 50-45, 49-46) over Joe Elmore.

“I hope Leonard Garcia has a happy retirement,” wrote one fan, watching the questionably respectful end to his fight.

“Hell of a career, but if anyone walked off midway through my ‘both us us kneel down and respect thing’, I’m dropkicking them in the back of the knees when I get up.”

At 41, Garcia said he was yet to make his mind up after a fight in which Elmore fought gamely on despite suffering a bad-looking first-round cut that left him bleeding profusely from his head.

“I’ve still got a lot left in the tank,” said the veteran. “I’m still a legend, I still did everything I said I was going to do.

“Fighting a guy like Joe was something else. I learned a lot about myself and I learned a lot about Joe.

“I’ve got all the respect in the world for him and I don’t take anything away from him.

“I’ve got an important decision to make and it’s a hard one. My deal with God was to be the number one guy when I left.

“That’s why I took the fight with Joe Elmore. I wanted to prove to the world I was the number one fighter at 165 when I retired.”

VanZant lost to Britain Hart by decision on her debut with the promotion last month, but has vowed to continue her fighting career and spoken of her devotion to MMA.
