No Xbox Live Gold games to play? Try these new freebies for Xbox Series X

Microsoft’s Games with Gold has a range of new titles to claim, but sometimes you can find yourself left without anything new to play.

The latest titles added by Microsoft might not catch your eye, or you might have simply played them all a little too much.

The good news for anyone looking for something new to try is that three new freebies have arrived.

And as part of Microsoft’s Free Play Days programme, they can be accessed at no extra charge by anyone with an Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Live Gold subscription.

The only downside for anyone with an active XGP is that all of this weekend’s new Free Play Days games are already available in the Pass library.

But for those with Xbox Live Gold, it offers the perfect time to try out ARK Survival Evolved, Fallout 76, or Football Manager 2021.

FM21 might be the most enticing game of the bunch as it’s relatively new and offers a different gameplay style.

While ARK Survival Evolved is a survival sim that has been around for years and Fallout 76 proved a massive disappointment to fans, FM21 is a footy-management sim that has only just arrived on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

While not quite the same as the famous PC experience, Football Manager 2021 on Xbox still provides an interesting blend of matchday and management mechanics.

Building your own manager from scratch, you can choose to helm a number of famous sides from the English Premier League as you try to score as many trophies as possible.

Managers have to balance the budget, build a winning strategy, and sign the top players to have any chance against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.

FM21 is available to play for free across Xbox One and Xbox Series X, although the next-gen experience offers a little more.

“If you’re on Xbox One, you’ll be restricted to loading just five of the best footballing nations, so home in on the trophies that matter to you.

“When you’re confident in your managerial abilities, why not compete against your friends for the ultimate bragging rights in one of FM21 Xbox’s online modes?

“You can each select your favourite club and take on the world – and each other – in an online Career Mode game or mix things up in Fantasy Draft where you and your friends can draft squads of the biggest stars in football and face off against each other.”

All three Free Play Day games are available to download now and will remain playable until around 8am BST on Monday, June 14.

PlayStation Play at Home PS4 and PSVR free game downloads: How to access your freebies

If you own a PS5, PS4 or PSVR, then there are ten free games waiting for you to download and keep forever.

Sony’s Play at Home scheme is the company’s way of encouraging people to stay indoors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It all kicked off earlier this year with the release of Ratchet and Clank as a free download for PlayStation users.

Sony has expanded the Play at Home scheme with a further nine PS4 and PSVR games available completely free of charge. You don’t even need a PlayStation Plus account.

The latest batch of free Play at Home games include Subnautica, Abzu, Enter the Gungeon, Rez Infinite, The Witness, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Moss, Thumper and Paper Beast.

The giveaway ends on April 23, so remember to add the games to your library before this date. Ratchet and Clank leaves the service on April 1.

If you want to claim your free PS4 and PSVR games, then visit the link below to nab the freebies.

VISIT THE PLAY AT HOME PAGE ON THE PLAYSTATION STORE TO CLAIM YOUR FREE DOWNLOADS

Alternatively, you can visit the PlayStation Store via your console dashboard to bag your free games.

One of the most popular games in the line-up, Subnautica is an underwater survival game in which players collect resources, build bases, and avoid gargantuan sea monsters.

“You have crash-landed on an alien ocean world, and the only way to go is down. Subnautica’s oceans range from sun drenched shallow coral reefs to treacherous deep-sea trenches, lava fields, and bio-luminescent underwater rivers.

“Manage your oxygen supply as you explore kelp forests, plateaus, reefs, and winding cave systems. The water teems with life: Some of it helpful, much of it harmful.

“After crash landing in your Life Pod, the clock is ticking to find water, food, and to develop the equipment you need to explore. Collect resources from the ocean around you. Craft knives, lights, diving gear, and personal water craft.

“Venture deeper and further form to find rarer resources, allowing you to craft more advanced items.”

The Play at Home will continue in the coming weeks, when Sony adds another big exclusive to the line-up.

Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be available for free on April 20. This brings the total number of freebies up to 11.

As the name suggests, Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition contains the base game and DLC.

This includes the excellent Frozen Wilds expansion, as well as a variety of in-game items and outfits, not to mention a digital art book and PS4 theme.

With sequel Horizon Forbidden West launching later this year, Sony’s Play at Home scheme is a great way to get up to speed.
