Harry Wilson insists he is “good enough” to play for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side after bagging a hat-trick for Cardiff.

The Welshman was forced to leave Anfield once again in the summer as he sought regular football.

Wilson spent last season playing in the top flight with Bournemouth having impressed in the Championship with Derby the year prior to that.

The 24-year-old was forced to drop into the second tier once more but is in no doubt he would make a difference if he was given a chance with the Reds.

“I feel I’m good enough to be in that squad,” said Wilson. “I’d like to think I could go in there and add something different.

“It’s always been my aim to get into the Liverpool team and play for the club I’ve been at since I was eight. But you know the quality Liverpool have got, the famous front three [Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane].

“I’ve always been confident in my ability and, playing with the players in that team, I feel it would help me with my game.”

Curtis Jones and Neco Williams have broken into the first team over the past 12 months and Wilson is hoping to do the same.

The midfielder is determined to play as high as he can though and will have no problem seeking a move if Klopp cannot present him with opportunities at Liverpool.

He added: “That’s out of my hands. That’s up to the manager there to make those decisions but I’m fully focused on finishing the season with Cardiff and playing at the Euros with Wales.

“I’m determined to have a good tournament there and, if it’s not with Liverpool [next season], I’m determined to get a move. I feel I deserve to play at the highest level I can.”

Third time unlucky: Bremen's Friedl takes unfortunate hat-trick of rapid-fire hits in Bundesliga clash (VIDEO)

A Werder Bremen player “took one” – or rather three – for the team in a Bundesliga clash this afternoon.

During an away clash with Werder Bremen on Saturday afternoon, Marco Friedl got in the way of a ferocious shot from Robert Andrich with the score til tied at 1-1.

The ball hitting him in the nether regions, Friedl naturally went to ground where he was then struck once more in the mid-section by Andrich as he attempted to get a cross in.

As the ball went out to the wing and the referee had already whistled to stop play, Andrich made it third time unlucky by blasting it straight at Friedl’s feet.

“Spare your thoughts for Werder Bremen’s Marco Friedl who had quite an unfortunate day…,” ran a caption to an official Bundesliga clip of the incident.

ESPN went with: “Talk about taking one for the team…”

And this caused one user to reply, “He put his kids on the line too”.

Many others were reminded of the fictional sports character Scott Sterling, therefore taking the opportunity to post a lauded sketch in which, as a goalkeeper, he saves an incoming ball with his head.

Becoming an internet sensation, the clip went viral with over 20 million views on YouTube in a matter of months.

‘Talk about precision’: Fans amazed as French ace Griezmann and wife pull off remarkable hat-trick of baby dates

Fans online have reacted to a unusual phenomenon pulled off by Antoine Griezmann and his wife.

At 10.24 this morning in Spain, the World Cup winner and his partner Erika Choperena welcomed daughter Alba to the world.

She joins Mia, 5, and Amaro, 2, as the forward was excused from training by his club FC Barcelona on the eve of El Clasico.

But the Griezmann siblings share something unheard of, in that they were apparently all born on the same day, April 8, which means that Mia and Amaro celebrated their birthday today and were given a younger sister as a present.

The development has amused fans on social media no end.

Taking to Twitter to reply to a series of posts on the matter, their wisecracks rolled in with regards to an accomplishment that rivals winning Les Bleus their second world title in Russia in 2018.

“Talk about precision” quipped one, while others pointed out that Grizi “scored a hat trick on April 8”, “scheduled his kids” or purposely targeted being intimate with his wife on July 15.

Amaro appears likely to be a World Cup final baby.

On said mid-summer date three years ago, Griezmann scored the penalty that put Didier Deschamps’ men 2-1 ahead of Croatia at the Luzhniki Stadium, before they romped home to a 4-2 win in which he was announced Man of the Match.

Now an integral part of Ronald Koeman’s plans at the Camp Nou, the 30-year-old can cap a perfect week by helping Barca beat bitter rivals Real Madrid on Saturday and finally reach the La Liga summit.

Cristiano Ronaldo 'sends message to critics' after blasting 32-minute hat-trick as he puts Champions League woe behind him

Cristiano Ronaldo bounced back from Champions League disappointment and speculation over his Juventus future as he plundered a first-half hat-trick against Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday.

Ronaldo struck first after 10 minutes, rising highest to head in a Juan Cuadrado cross. The Portuguese star doubled his tally 15 minutes later as he converted from the penalty spot after he had been brought down by Alessio Cragno inside the box.

The 36-year-old star completed his hat-trick in style in the 32nd minute, cutting inside his marker to rifle into the top left-hand corner of the net.

“The celebration tops it off,” wrote one fan as Ronaldo was seen running to the camera and pointing at his neck after sealing his treble.

The hat-trick was a statement of intent after a week in which Juventus and their five-time Ballon d’Or winner suffered more woes in the Champions League as they crashed out to Porto on away goals at the last-16 stage.

That sparked more rumors over Ronaldo’s future as he was linked with a summer return to Real Madrid.

Reports in Spain claimed that Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes had already been in touch with his client’s former employers, ahead of a potential return to a stomping ground where he became Los Blancos’ all-time top-scorer on the way to helping them to four Champions League titles.

Ronaldo himself issued a message on Instagram on Saturday, in which he appeared to restate his commitment to the Juve cause, at least in the immediate future.

After Ronaldo’s latest heroics, fans and pundits paid tribute to his determination to bounce back in style.

Cagliari pulled a consolation goal back in the second half through Giovanni Simeone but it wasn’t enough as Ronaldo and Juve claimed a 3-1 win.

However, despite his tally some fans still found time to slander the Portugal star, accusing Ronaldo of going missing in the crunch ties with Porto, only to turn up against a lowly Cagliari team who are 17th in the Serie A table.

“Ronaldo ghosting against a 10 man Porto in the CL but will do this celebration after scoring against 17th place Cagliary,” mocked one fan.

Alongside their exit from Europe, Juve are facing an uphill battle to retain the Serie A title they have won for the past nine seasons.

Sunday’s win lifted Pirlo’s men to 10 points behind leaders Inter Milan, although the Turin giants have a game in hand.

Ronaldo’s strikes took him to 23 goals in 23 Serie A games for the season, leading the way in the Capocannoniere stakes ahead of Inter’s Romelu Lukaku, who has 19 strikes to his name.

The hat-trick was also the 57th in the Portugal star’s career, and was the second fastest behind his treble against Espanyol in 2015, which came inside just 20 minutes.
