Michael Jackson proposed to Brooke Shields – but he was turned down

Throughout his life, Michael Jackson was married twice. The first time the King of Pop married Lisa Marie Presley in 1994 but eventually divorced her in 1996. Later that same year, Michael married Debbie Rowe – the mother of his first two children, Prince Jackson and Paris Jackson – however, this marriage only lasted three years before they split up in 1999. Before either of these relationships, Michael tried to get together with Brooke.

Brooke is an American actress and model who rose to fame when she was just 12-years-old for her performance in the film Pretty Baby.

The American star spoke candidly about her close relationship with Michael after the singer had died in 2009.

She recalled the King of Pop asked her to marry him at some point in the 1980s.

She said: “I would say: ‘You have me for the rest of your life, you don’t need to marry me.’

‘I’m going to go on and do my own life and have my own marriage and my own kids, and you’ll always have me.'”

Brooke went on: “I think it made him relax. He didn’t want to lose things that meant something to him.”

The star went on to say the innocent nature of her relationship with Michael was unbroken as they grew up.

Because of this, Brooke told Rolling Stone, Michael became “more asexual” to her.

What do you think?

Brooke said: “What first base was, what second base was, and it sounded very odd to the outside I can imagine, but to the inside, to someone who’s never really left his bubble, you can understand how he would be curious.”

In her 2014 memoir – There Was a Little Girl – Brooke said: “We were like two little kids. From the day we met, we saw something of ourselves in each other.”

She added: “Of course we loved each other, but nothing happened romantically.

“I would be like: ‘Oh please, knock it off.’ He was like this kid who would ask you [about dating and romance].”

Brooke said she thought Michael was “terrified” of dating and romance.

She went on: “I think there was an arrested development, but he wanted us to never not be with each other.”

The Beatles Get Back: Peter Jackson reveals what ‘people won’t be expecting’ in show

In November Jackson’s revitalised version of Let It Be will be released on Disney Plus under a new title: Get Back. The three-part documentary tells the 30-day story of how The Beatles wrote and recorded their final album, Let It Be in 1969. The films will detail how happy the band were together, just months before they split up and started suing one another. Jackson has now spoken out in a new interview about the film’s style and content.

Jackson began by saying: “It’s like a time machine transports us back to 1969 and we get to sit in the studio watching these four friends make great music together.”

The original Let It Be film went down in history as the band breaking down in real-time on-screen.

However, Jackson says this isn’t the case. After combing through more than 55 hours of film, he has a much different story to tell.

He said: “There’s probably more conversations with The Beatles in the films than there is actual singing. People won’t be expecting that, I think.” (Via GQ Hype)

Jackson continued: “That sort of intimacy, that fly-on-the-wall aspect of it, where you’re in a time machine and you’ve gone back and you’re a fly on the wall with The Beatles. That will, I think, surprise people, because it is very intimate.

“It’s The Beatles as you’ve never seen them before. And the other thing that I think will surprise people is how funny the films are, which, considering the reputation of this footage and the Let It Be movie, you don’t associate with January 1969, but they’re very funny films.”

The Lord of the Rings director then added: “They’re all good friends and they remain good friends all the way throughout the series. This is before the Allen Klein period when they start to argue.”

Jackson’s reference to Apple Corps’ Klein is the tumultuous period of time that involved the band suing one another over the ownership of The Beatles’ songs.

What do you think? Will fans enjoy the new version of the events? Join the debate in the comments section here

The argument in question took place between Paul McCartney and George Harrison over the structure of a song.

Jackson revealed: “The moment when George is arguing with Paul, which you see in the original film, is actually the worst of [their arguments].

“You know, when George says: ‘I’ll play whatever you want me to play. Or I won’t play at all if you don’t want me play’ … ‘I’ll do anything to please you’ sort of thing.

“I’ve tried to use nothing at all from Let It Be, so Get Back is completely different. I didn’t want to usurp the original film, so this is a companion piece. But the one area we did break that rule is that little exchange between Paul and George, because I didn’t want to be accused of sanitising the films by not having that, because that’s the bit everyone remembers.”

Jackson also revealed he hadn’t done much visual editing on the film.

Other than “colour balancing skin tones” he had not altered any colours in the picture, making the 1960s clothing styles to really pop on screen.

The Beatles Get Back arrives on Disney Plus in three parts on November 25, 26 and 27.

Michael Jackson girlfriend Stephanie Mills on ‘compassionate’ star and his favourite treat

Before Michael Jackson became a global superstar in the 1980s he enjoyed a brief relationship with Broadway star Stephanie Mills. Mills was renowned for playing Dorothy Gale in the 1975 stage show The Wiz – an adaptation of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Jackson later went on to star in the film version of the show which was released in 1978. During an interview Mills revealed how he acted while they were together.

Mill said in 2016: “I loved Michael!

“We dated for about a year and a half back in the day. He was the sweetest, most compassionate, most loving person. Very soft-spoken and very humble.” (Via Closer)

The seven-time Tony Award-winning singer went on to out one of Jackson’s guilty pleasures.

She revealed: “He loved to laugh, and he loved Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies.”

Mills continued: “We used to ride up Ventura Boulevard [in LA] and he’d want me to go and get them!

“He saw me in The Wiz all the time, and I went to the set [of The Wiz film] a couple times.”

While talking to The Breakfast Club radio station, Mills explained she and Jackson “were very young” when they were together.

Presley and Jackson eventually got married in 1994.

After their wedding, they appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss their love.

During the expose interview, the couple were asked if they had sex.

An irritated Presley replied: “Do we have sex? Yes, yes, yes!”

The daughter of Elvis Presley was clearly frustrated by the doubt surrounding their marriage.

She said: “Did we marry out of convenience? Why wouldn’t we have a lot in common?”

The couple split just two years later in 1996.

Michael Jackson ‘had 3am phone calls with Princess Diana’ before her death

The late Princess Diana would have turned 60-years-old today, on July 1, 2021. The Princess of Wales died in a car crash on August 31, 1997, but before her death, nine years prior, in 1988, Princess Diana met Michael Jackson for the first and only time at his Wembley Stadium gig. After that, the pair became incredibly close friends.

The pair bonded over a number of things, including music and having their every move scrutinised by the world.

Speaking to a German outlet in 1999, Michael revealed: “We were very close.”

He then explained they were always in contact, sometimes even late at night.

The King of Pop went on: “She was extremely close by phone … I was still married to Lisa Marie [Presley].”

Michael continued: “Diana woke me up usually late at night … mostly after three in the morning!

“And then she held me for hours on the telephone. She talked about children, the press.”

Considering Michael revealed he was still married to Lisa Marie Presley at the time, these calls must have been sometime before 1996 - when he divorced Elvis Presley’s daughter - but after 1988 when he first met Diana.

Unfortunately for Michael, he never met Princess Diana physically ever again after 1988.

The Thriller singer added: “Just the message. And the fact that I knew her personally.”

In honour of Princess Diana, Michael cancelled the next concert he was supposed to play.

Hannelore Van Staen of Sony Epic Belgium said: “[Jackson] said he would have a difficult time performing and did not want to do the concert because of her sudden death.” (Via Irish Times)

The next concert Michael held was in honour of Lady Di.

During the concert, Michael said: “In my heart I was saying: ‘I love you Diana. Shine and shine on forever. You are the true princess of the people.'”

The star also gave a statement on Lady Diana’s death.

He said: “The sudden loss of Diana, Princess of Wales, is one of the greatest tragedies of the millennium. She was a friend to the world.”

He also told reporters at the time: “Diana was my friend, she is no longer here. I love her.

Michael Jackson children: Who got custody of Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson?

American singer Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009 after suffering a cardiac arrest. The singer was just 50-years old. On top of his musical fortune and Neverland Ranch property, he also left behind three children: 15-year-old Prince Jackson, 14-year-old Paris Jackson and 10-year-old Blanket Jackson.

Who got custody of Michael Jackson’s children?

In 2009, shortly after Michael died, his mother, Katherine Jackson, was given legal custody of Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson.

Katherine took custody of the children directly after Michael’s death before later being granted official guardianship by the courts.

This decision was in accordance with Michael’s will.

Three years later, in 2012, rumours hit the press that Katherine had been “kidnapped”.

Following this, Katherine briefly lost custody of the children, but later gave a public statement on what happened.

She told ABC: “There are rumours going around about me that I have been kidnapped. I’m fine.

“I’m here with my children, and my children would never do a thing like that.”

Michael’s nephew, TJ Jackson, has since gained guardianship of Blanket.

This change occurred in 2019 after TJ stepped up to help Katherine, who was 89-years-old at the time.

Prince and Paris, on the other hand, were legal adults of 22 and 21-years-old respectively.

TJ said at the time: “When [Michael] passed, my brothers and I, we went to our grandmother [Katherine] and basically told her: however we can help, we want to be there.

“And then, you know, whenever she’d go out of town she’d always call me to see if I can come by, come to the house and, and watch them, you know, and I think she knew I was the only one with a child, so she knew I thought like a parent and I would take care of them like a parent.”

TJ went on: “In time, as she’s gotten older, she’s kind of phased out of it and now I’m officially just the sole guardian. She relinquished it recently.

“But I was always there with my brothers, and I think it’s important because she’s almost 90 years old and she’s a grandma, you know, and, and she needs to relax and it’s tough raising kids, let alone teenagers so, for anyone, let alone a 90-year-old.

“So I think it was the right thing and she needs to relax and enjoy her grandkids as a grandmother.”

TJ has four children of his own and two stepchildren is the nephew of Michael, and the cousin of Prince, Paris and Blanket.

Prince and Paris’ biological mother, Debbie Rowe, did not have any legal custody of them.

At the time it was decided Debbie would get visitation rights with the children, of which the “timing, frequency and manner of visits shall be implemented according to the best interests of the children, as determined by a child psychologist selected jointly, and paid jointly”.

A source told ABC at the time: “The discussions were amicable and cooperative, rather than a give and take negotiation. Both sides cooperated to reach agreement based solely on the best interest of the children.”

Michael Jackson: Wife Lisa Marie's heartbreaking discovery after he died 'I was so wrong'

Lisa Marie also opened up about why, ultimately, their relationship fell apart and what prevented them from getting back together.

Although Michael expressed his fears that he would die like her father, Elvis, he continued to surround himself with enablers who did not have the strength or independence to deny him anything or help him curb his worst instincts.

Lisa Marie said: “I left him to stomp my foot in the ground, I was trying to take a stand and say, ‘Come with me, don’t do this (carry on down the same path).’ And it was a stupid move because he didn’t…

“I had to make the decision to walk because I saw the drugs and doctors were coming in and they scared me and that put me back into what I went through with my father (Elvis) and that ended it.”

Michael Jackson funeral: Lisa Marie’s moment alone by his casket – 'I wanted to apologise'

Michael Jackson died 12 years ago at the age of just 50. Less than two weeks later a public memorial service took place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles ahead of a private funeral that September. The latter was attended by around 200 of the star’s closest friends and family including Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Macaulay Culkin and MJ’s ex-wife Elvis’ daughter Lisa Marie Presley.

Fans will know that Jackson and Lisa Marie had been briefly married between 1994 and 1996.

The King of Pop’s funeral saw his family arrive in a motorcade of 31 vehicles, while his brothers Randy, Tito, Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon were his pallbearers.

His siblings carried the gold-plated casket into the service at Glendale’s Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

And after the service, Lisa Marie stayed behind to have a private moment by her former husband’s body.

While The Great Mausoleum is not open to the public, Jackson’s unmarked crypt is partially visible from the tinted entrance.

Fans cover the final resting place in flowers, which security guards put out in memory.

Lisa Marie has been married four times, with Jackson being her second husband.

The 53-year-old’s first marriage was to Danny Keough, with who she had her late son Benjamin.

Benjamin is now buried at Graceland alongside his grandfather Elvis, great grandparents Vernon and Gladys and great-great-grandmother Minnie Mae.

His final resting place is near the mansion’s pool in the Mediation Garden.

Lisa Marie was married to her third husband, Hollywood star Nicolas Cage, from 2002 to 2004.

While her fourth marriage was in 2006 to Michael Lockwood, who she divorced this year.

'Michael Jackson feared he would die like Elvis' said wife Lisa Marie Presley 'And he did'

The King of Pop died on June 25, 2009. The coroner found deadly amounts of the drugs propofol and benzodiazepine. For his ex-wife, it brought back harrowing memories of losing her father, over 30 years earlier on August 16, 1977. Lisa Marie described the parallels in the way they lived, the people they surrounded themselves with, their consumption of drugs, and the way they died. She spoke of her distress that she had not heeded Michael when he told her of his fears he would die like Elvis.

Michael and Lisa Marie married on May 26, 1994. Despite constantly defending the validity of their union (and their sex life), the marriage soon fell apart and she filed for divorce in January 1996.

Extraordinarily,  after MJ’s death, Lisa Marie revealed they had spent four further years secretly meeting and discussing reconciling. She was one of the few people the star confided in and who he felt could understand the extreme levels of fame and pressure he was dealing with.

Lisa, meanwhile, said she felt she could ‘save’ him while they were together and after he died admitted she felt guilty she had not done more to help in a raw and revealing public post the days after Michael died.

Lisa Marie described a haunting conversation they’d had during the remarriage where Michael predicted what would happen.

She wrote: “Years ago Michael and I were having a deep conversation about life in general.

“I can’t recall the exact subject matter but he may have been questioning me about the circumstances of my Fathers Death.

“At some point he paused, he stared at me very intensely and he stated with an almost calm certainty, ‘I am afraid that I am going to end up like him, (die) the way he did.'”

Lisa Marie added: “I promptly tried to deter him from the idea, at which point he just shrugged his shoulders and nodded almost matter of fact as if to let me know, he knew what he knew and that was kind of that.”

She has also spoken of the damaging environments both MJ and her father surrounded themselves with.

She said: “The one thing that correlates with Michael and my father on this subject was they had the luxury of creating whatever reality around them they wanted to create. They could have the kinds of people who were going to go with their programme or were not and if they weren’t then they could be disposed of.

Lisa Marie said: “This was something I have had way too much experience of on both sides where I’ve seen what can go on…

“When it’s this unusual reality in an ivory tower with a godlike life, mixed with an addiction, that’s when you get into trouble…

“There was a very profound point when he had to make the decision. Was it the drugs and vampires (sycophants) or me. And he pushed me away.”

Boil water notice lifted for Lake Jackson residents after low pressure

LAKE JACKSON, Texas (KTRK) — The city of Lake Jackson lifted its boil water notice Monday morning after city officials announced a drop in water pressure Saturday afternoon.

As of 8:30 a.m., residents are no longer required to boil water before use, according to a press release from the city.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality reportedly required city officials to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption.

On Sunday, city said authorities were still testing the water due to requirements when pressure reaches below a certain level.

“The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of June 21, 2021,” Monday’s press release said.

This boil water notice came months after a previous advisory was issued when a 6-year-old boy died after coming in contact with contaminated water.

The family of Josiah McIntyre said he became sick after playing in a Lake Jackson splashpad.

According to officials, water samples taken from that splashpad were in fact contaminated with a brain-eating amoeba. Officials from the city of Lake Jackson said they were responsible for Josiah’s death.

A boil water advisory can be issued under a number of circumstances from natural disasters, like in the aftermath of hurricanes and winter storms, to sudden emergencies like a water main break.

The notices are issued when an area’s water is, or could be, contaminated with bacteria that could make you sick.

Boiling kills disease-causing organisms, including viruses, bacteria and parasites.

You’ll want to boil water before you do anything that involves human consumption, such as drinking, cooking, and brushing your teeth.

The following information is from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Here are some common questions and answers about boil water advisories.

What should I do if a boil water advisory is in effect?

If you have bottled water available for drinking and to prepare and cook food, you can use that. But if bottled water isn’t available, it’s advised you:

  • Bring water to a full rolling boil for 1 minute (at elevations above 6,500 feet, boil for three minutes)
  • Allow the water to cool before use
  • Boil tap water, even if it is filtered
  • Don’t use water from any appliance connected to your water line, such as ice and water from a refrigerator
  • Breastfeeding is the best infant feeding option. If you formula feed your child, provide ready-to-use formula, if that’s available

Note that many cities and communities surrounding the Houston area said you can boil the water for at least two minutes.

SEE ALSO: Boil orders in effect for much of the Houston area

Is it safe to brush my teeth?

Only brush teeth with boiled or bottled water. Do not use untreated tap water.

What about hand washing under a boil water notice?

  • In many situations, you can use tap water and soap to wash your hands. Still, follow the guidance of your local health officials.
  • Make sure you scrub your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Rinse hands well under running water.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Is it safe to bathe and shower?

You can use the water for bathing and showering, but you must be careful not to swallow it. Use extra caution when bathing babies and young children. Consider giving them a sponge bath instead.

Can I wash dishes and laundry under a boil order?

According to the CDC, it is safe to wash clothes as usual. But you’ll need to follow a few more guidelines for dishes.

  • If possible, use disposable plates, cups, and utensils during a boil water advisory
  • Household dishwashers generally are safe to use if the water reaches a final rinse temperature of at least 150 degrees Fahrenheit (65.55 degrees Celcius), or if the dishwasher has a sanitizing cycle

What if I need to clean?

Use bottled water, boiled water, or water that has been disinfected with bleach to clean washable toys and surfaces.

Follow these CDC guidelines carefully as it relates to using bleach.

How do I care for my pets under a boil order?

Provide bottled or boiled water after it has been cooled for pets. Why? Because they can get sick by some of the same germs as people or pets can even spread germs to people.

You’ll need to follow the order until your local health or city officials have deemed it safe to end it and resume consumption.

Paris Jackson says paparazzi caused her long-term trauma

The daughter of Michael Jackson has a one-on-one discussion with fellow paparazzi target and friend Willow Smith on Wednesday’s edition of “Red Table Talk.”

NEW YORK — Paris Jackson, stopping by “Red Table Talk” for a frank discussion about living under the media glare, reveals she suffers long-term anxiety and trauma from enduring countless camera clicks by paparazzi since she was a child.

“I experience auditory hallucinations sometimes with camera clicks and severe paranoia and have been going to therapy for a lot of things but that included,” Jackson says. “I’ll hear a trash bag rustling and flinch in panic.” She adds: “I think it’s standard PTSD.”

Jackson, the daughter of Michael Jackson, has a one-on-one discussion with fellow paparazzi target and friend Willow Smith on Wednesday’s edition of the online talk show that airs on Facebook Watch at 9 a.m. PDT/noon EDT.

During the show’s introduction, Smith says she met Jackson on the set of mom Jada Pinkett Smith’s TV show “Hawthorne.” Smith and Jackson soon forged a bond over growing up with parents in the spotlight, and over love of music, modeling, and issues like mental health, sexuality and body image. One way Jackson says she keeps some privacy is by asking people in her home to sign non-disclosure agreements.

Jackson, who has dated men and women, tells Smith that while there is tension with some of her family members over her sexuality, she has leaned on her brothers — Prince and Prince Michael II — and longtime family friend Omer Bhatti.

“They’ve always been super-supportive,” she says, noting that to better connect with his sister, Prince Jackson in high school joined a student-run club that unites LGBTQ+ and allied youth. “Not a lot of people can say they have siblings that support them like that.”

In 2020, Paris Jackson and then-boyfriend Gabriel Glenn — who formed the acoustic duo The Soundflowers — had a docu-series on Facebook Watch called “Unfiltered,” which provided a glimpse into her private life. Jackson revealed self-harm and suicide attempts in her testimonials, and said music was a way to channel her pain. She released her debut solo album “Wilted” in November.

“Red Table Talk” has recently made headlines with interviews with Olivia Jade Gianulli, Kelly Osbourne, and when Pinkett Smith and her husband, Will Smith, discussed their marriage.
