Warzone loadout update: Should you unlock the OTs 9 in Call of Duty?

Today’s Season 4 Reloaded patch is available to download now and contains more than just new Call of Duty Warzone content.

Developers Raven Software has taken the opportunity to rebalance several existing weapons in the game, meaning that there is a good chance that the meta will shift.

For now, it’s hard to say how big a tweak this will prove to be, as players are still dropping into Verdnask and testing stuff out.

This means that while many Warzone loadouts will be updated very soon, most will be sticking with what they know until they hear more about what might be better.

You can check out the full Call of Day Warzone patch notes here, which details every weapon tweak that has been confirmed.

For a shorter rundown, it should be noted that the following weapons have received buffs:

  • GRAU
  • Krig 6
  • M13
  • QBZ
  • M60
  • PKM
  • UZI

Other guns have been tweaked in more detail, meaning that some stats have been nerfed, while others have been buffed.

Raven Software has pledged to keep an eye on the current situation, telling gamers today:

“Statistically, there will always be a ‘best weapon’. That is the nature of a competitive game. Players will seek out and employ any advantage they can, regardless of how minuscule it may be.

“We will take great care to ensure that the ‘best weapon’ never overstays its welcome and has an effect that scales with the skill of the handler. Conversely, there is also a great deal of players who prefer a myriad of options to choose from. Our goal is to provide exactly that.

“We will continue to compress outliers, both over and underperforming, until each Weapon is viable at the very least. We do not want players to feel they are at a distinct disadvantage for not conforming to the generally accepted ‘best weapon’.

“We will be closely monitoring Weapon performance to ensure the game is in a healthy state following the biggest balance update in the history of Warzone.”

SHOULD YOU UNLOCK THE OTS 9?

Many gamers are asking how to unlock the OTs 9 SMG and if it is worth the hassle of keeping the in-game challenge.

To unlock the OTS 9 in Warzone, you need to kill two or more players rapidly in 15 different games while using an SMG.

For Cold War multiplayer, you will need kill three enemies affected by your Tactical Equipment in 15 different completed matches, which is a lot harder.

Meanwhile, the same challenge can be completed in Zombies mode, but you have to use an SMG to kill 50 Tempests within 2 seconds of them reappearing after teleporting.

It’s a bit of a faff and you can throw some COD points at it as a very lazy alternative across all platforms.

The big question is whether it’s worth unlocking the OTs 9 for use in Call of Duty Warzone.

The early feedback is that it is probably worth the time to add the new SMG to your collection.

This will also mean leveling it up as you will need to unlock the 40-round ammo magazine to make it viable.

Gamers are noting that while it doesn’t have a lot of ammo capacity, it should only take around eight shots to take down a player.

It also comes with an easy amount of recoil and provides enough firepower so that you can take down two players at once.

However, while it could prove very useful in Solos and Duos, the new OTs 9 might not be so handy when facing teams of four.

Best new Warzone loadout contenders before Call of Duty Season 4 Reloaded update

Call of Duty Warzone gamers continue to test out new loadouts for battling it out in Verdansk across PS4, Xbox One and PC.

However, with something that could be the next best loadout in Warzone being touted, fans won’t have long to test it out.

That’s because Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 Reloaded is launching this week and is expected to offer another COD meta shakeup.

Activision has announced that the big Call of Duty Warzone update will be launching on Thursday, July 15, as part of a wider Cold War expansion.

The main focus of the Call of Duty Season 4 Reloaded update will be adding new content to the popular Black Ops Zombies mode.

But as ever, COD fans are prepared for new things in Call of Duty Warzone as well. Like with previous patches, Call of Duty Battle Royale is expected to be one of the last areas to be updated by Activision.

And when this does happen on July 15, Activision is expected to unleash a new wave of weapon tweaks.

These might not be quite as big as past balance patches, as developers Raven Software will be hard at work changing other parts of the game.

But there is a good chance that some overpowered combos could be reduced or have their attachments tweaked.

More news on this subject is expected later today, and for now, gamers have other existing loadouts to try out.

One new combo currently being touted is the XM4, which has proven to be a solid choice following the recent meta changes.

Not only does the XM4 come with plenty of ammo, but it can also be used for close range and mid-range encounters.

This makes it a formidable tool for those COD fans who need as much help as possible winning those final battles in Verdansk.

One YouTube content creator who leads the way in terms of finding the best Warzone loadouts is JGOD, who just released his latest recommendation.

This includes the XM4 and how you can use it to your advantage over clear ranges on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

While the long-range setup for the XM4 has been talked about previously, it has also been revisited since the most recent Warzone patches.

This includes changes made in early July which smoothed out the XM4 recoil, making it a leading combo in Warzone.

The long-range XM4 build being used by JGOD can be found in this YouTube video and includes the following attachments:

Barrel: 13.5″ Task Force

Optic: Axial Arms 3x

Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip

Ammo: Salvo 60 Rnd Fast Mag

Muzzle: Agency Suppressor

But JGOD has also touched upon another best Warzone loadout that is worth checking out this week, before the big Season 4 update. Highlighting that the RPD is a good weapon for those just starting out in the LMG class, it’s clear to see how the recoil mechanics could help.

While the RPD does have recoil which pulls the gun up, firing for a long period provides a window where the weapon has almost no kick.

And that could be used for some great advantage when taking on multiple players from a good spot on the map. The loadout used in the video includes the following:

Muzzle: Gru Suppressor

Barrel: Task Force

Grip: Spetsnaz Grip

Ammo: 120 Mag

Optic: Axial Arms 3x

It should be noted that both of these weapons are used with the Milano as a secondary, meaning they are not used together.

Call of Duty Warzone update: MG 82 loadout nerf patch news for Cold War Season 4

This week is likely to see a new Call of Duty Warzone update released as part of the next big Cold War Season 4 release.

As expected, a few of the new weapons released last week have proven to be a bit too powerful and have started to dominate in Verdansk.

This includes the MG 82, with the new LMG scheduled to be nerfed soon across PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-gen consoles.

We don’t know in which ways the MG 82 will be changed, with plenty of stuff available to tweak in Warzone Season 4.

The MG 82 is known for its relatively low-recoil and high ammo magazine, meaning it can do serious damage over good distances.

The only thing holding it back right now is that you need to unlock the MG 82 before you start wielding it.

That means many Call of Duty fans might not have it yet as an option, something that is bound to change over the coming days.

To unlock the MG 82, gamers have to reach level 31 on the new Season 4 battle pass. This is a free tier, meaning you don’t need to make any additional purchases.

However, before you get around to unlocking the MG 82, it should be known that developers Raven Software have confirmed they will be nerfing the new gun.

A message from the Warzone team reads: “The MG 82 (BOCW) made one too many trips to the Pack-a-Punch machine before deploying to Verdansk.

“Element 115 is off limits in #Warzone so we will be making an adjustment to this Weapon soon.”

With that in mind, a new Call of Duty Warzone update is expected to drop sometime between Tuesday, June 22 and Thursday, June 24.

Thursdays are the dates chosen for Playlist patches, while Raven Software usually launches more technical patches on Tuesday.

And Raven has already confirmed its plans to make weapon balance changes during Season 4, telling gamers last week:

“In a future patch, we will be making sweeping balance changes to Weapons.

“At a high level, Warzone is a game about engagements. The more time we allot to mechanical and strategic expression within engagements, the higher the ‘skill ceiling’ and the longer our personal journey of mastery.

“We believe the frequency of those engagements and how we navigate them heavily contributes to the overall level of fun. We want to enable more escapes from impossible situations, moments of finesse, epic outplays, and opportunities to flex exquisite marksmanship.

“Due to some Weapons being far more lethal than others in their class, we feel a reduction in the efficacy of those outliers is necessary. We expect these changes will bring the average Time to Kill up by approximately 60 to 100 milliseconds.

“These changes will not only increase the overall capacity for skill expression, but should also introduce some Weapons into viability that have not yet had a chance to shine.”

Best Warzone loadout Season 4 – MG 82 loadout arrives but Call of Duty update is coming

The best Warzone loadout for Season 4 is currently influx, but there are already signs that the MG 82 will be a contender.

The last few weeks of Season 3 didn’t contain an overall winner for every fight in Call of Duty Battle Royale, and some fans found this to be a welcome relief.

You could play a number of different strategies without needing to have that one special weapon in your loadout.

But with the start of Warzone Season 4, changes have been made, and new guns have been added to the roster.

And one loadout that has been highlighted as a coming meta weapon is the new MG 82.

The MG 82 is an LGM with a top fire rate that boasts decent recoil, making for a spicy combination.

Including the weapon’s big magazine, the MG 82 has the right stats to be used with devastating effects around Verdansk and Rebirth Island.

With that in mind, it will take some gamers a while before they can reach the right tier and then move onto leveling it up.

And it should be noted that developers Raven Software is ready to make more weapon changes over the coming weeks.

This means that any current meta could change drastically when the next Warzone update is released.

A message from the team reads: “In a future patch, we will be making sweeping balance changes to Weapons.

The Best Warzone MG 82 loadout for Season 4 so far:

  • Muzzle – Use Agency Suppressor that unlocks at level 46
  • Barrel – Use 17.1 Match Grade that unlocks at level 39
  • Underbarrel – Use Field Agent Grip that unlocks at level 41
  • Optic – Use the Axial Arms 3x Unlocks at level 7 (Dependent on map) No scope can also be effective in Verdansk.
  • Ammo – Use Fast Mag that unlocks at level 16 as the standard 90 rounds are enough to stay competitive with other LMGs.

But before you go ahead and put a lot of time into the MG 82, the future weapon changes teased by Raven Software are expected to make big changes and could leave a lot of other guns ahead of the MG 82.

Other weapons that are considered top choices in Warzone Season 4 include:

FARA 83

AMAX

XM4

KRIG 6

KAR 98
