Lord Sugar fires back after being told he's 'out of touch' over vaccine: ‘My sister died!'

Lord Alan Sugar, 74, has today added his “two pennies’ worth” and encouraged younger people to have the COVID-19 vaccine.  However, the Apprentice star met backlash after the tweet, as some accused him of being “out of touch” with his attitude toward the jab.

Lord Sugar typed: “Can I just add my two penny worth and heartily encourage all 18-35-year-olds to have the vaccination.

“It makes sense. @NHS @NHSEngland,”(sic) he added.

While most praised the business magnate for urging younger people to have the vaccine, others were not so pleased.

One typed back: “Wow you’re out of touch.”

A third remarked: “My daughters are 18 and 22 – both healthy, both vaccinated. It’s not just about protecting yourself!”

While a fourth commented: “Also, yes COVID would likely be more of an inconvenience than a hospitalisation for them, but reports are showing that the vaccine reduces transmission, which keeps cases down, which reduces risk of new variants, which helps us get back to normal.”

Lord Sugar’s sister died from Covid, two weeks after The Apprentice host’s brother, after contracting the disease.

The 74-year-old businessman paid tribute to his eldest sister, Shirley Regal, on social media, saying she had died aged 88.

“She had been sick for a while but I guess Covid got her in the end to join our brother Derek, who passed two weeks ago. RIP SHIRL,” he wrote on Twitter.

He added on Instagram: “I guess another victim of Covid.”

On December 15, Lord Sugar announced his brother had died after contracting coronavirus, describing it as “a sad day for us all in the family”.

He tweeted: “Today I lost my long-suffering brother Derek, another victim of Covid which added to his underlying health issues.

“He was a lifetime, passionate Spurs supporter. I never forget my sister-in-law joking with me, thanking me for buying him the club.”

Flight attendant becomes NHS vaccinator – ‘my travelling days are over’

Sophie gets to the Home Park vaccination centre in Plymouth every morning at 8 am ready for her 12 hour shift. Patients start showing up at 8:30 – some excited and others anxious – about getting their Covid-19 jab delivered for the first time.
Vaccinators like her at Home Park Plymouth can vaccinate up to 300 patients a day, but not all of them are medical professionals. Some like Sophie, come from a very different background.

Originally from Cornwall, Sophie has worked as a cabin crew for more than 11 years, flying for airlines like Ryanair or Norwegian.

She lost her wings last year when her company stopped operating due to the pandemic, and she was furloughed for months.

She then changed her cabin crew uniform for a nurse’s scrub. But why did she decide to get into healthcare?

Perhaps Sophie was forced to change careers, but in doing so, she discovered her real passion.

“When the Covid pandemic hit last March I was working as cabin crew for Norwegian Air. When I was first furloughed I set up a First Aid Instructor business to ensure I had something else to do if the worst happened.

“Sadly in January 2021, I was made redundant as the company stopped operating. I was looking to see what jobs were out there and looked at the NHS, as I was already on my way to working in the medical industry with my First Aid training.

“I saw the adverts for the mass vaccination centre and thought it would be a great experience and also a way to ‘do my bit’,” she explained.

But what is a day like in the life of a Covid-19 vaccinator?

“The day begins with a briefing at 08:00 then set up before patients arrive at 08:30. We can do 6 hour shifts or 12 hour shifts starting at 08:00.

“We can vaccinate up to 300 patients a day,” she explained.

Sophie is aware that many people don’t know the NHS has trained non-medical professionals to become vaccinators.

After recently asking for feedback on social media, a number of respondents said that they wouldn’t feel comfortable with a flight attendant administering their vaccine and said they would much prefer a doctor or nurse doing so.

Some also said that they would actually refuse to get their vaccine if they knew that a former flight attendant was administering it.

Sophie responded to that: “As cabin crew you are very advanced first aid trained.

“During my progression in this role I have received full training and support and the whole process is closely monitored by registered staff.”

She said that fortunately, she has never encountered anyone that felt that way, and no patients have ever asked if she’s a fully qualified nurse.

“The patients have been lovely. So much appreciation from the patients right through the ages groups.

“Many people have been anxious in general about getting the vaccination and most people have been reassured and surprised at how their worries were quickly resolved afterwards, and in general at how quick and easy their vaccination had been,” she explained.

The UK is one of the countries where the highest number of vaccines have been administered to date, and Sophie believes that flight attendants have certainly played a key role in the vaccine rollout.

“I believe it’s been a huge team effort across the NHS and the systems involved, including volunteers, and everyone that has played a key part in delivering the mass vaccination programme. I have been amazed at how many people from different backgrounds have pulled together to build this great programme.

“Everyone I have worked with, no matter of their past careers, has made a massive contribution to the mass vaccination service.”

When being asked about her plans for the future, her answer is clear: “I feel my days of travelling are over.”

“I will truly miss it but it’s my time to try another adventure and maybe it’s my time to further a career in the NHS.”

Colin Jackson almost had to quit Dancing on Ice due to health issue ‘My skin was on fire!'

Colin Jackson, 54, reached the final of Dancing on Ice 2021, and narrowly missed out on the trophy to Sonny Jay. However, the Welsh athlete has now revealed he almost had to miss out on his impressive stint in the ITV show after suffering from a severe allergic reaction.

Detailing his battles with allergies including hay fever, Colin explained his latex and neoprene allergy nearly cost him his position in the celebrity line-up.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk about working with klarify on their allergy awareness campaign, Colin divulged: “I have a latex and a neoprene allergy as well.

“And just now, doing Dancing on Ice, when I was in one of the apartments we were staying at, they put a latex mattress protector under the bottom sheet of the bed, and of course, you don’t know, do you?

“And then of course I went to bed and I woke up the next day, my skin was literally on fire.

“It was like, from my shoulders, down to my ankles. But, we made it through, which was the most important thing in that circumstance.

“And so yeah, I was very happy with that.”

The former Olympian added: “So that’s why the collaboration with klarify is kind of working nicely, because that’s what they’re doing as well, is trying to get the message out there to people about what it’s like to suffer from allergies and then giving people the opportunity to have home tests.

“I mean, this is going to sound really weird when I say this, but there’s one particular brand of crisps, and myself and my sister, if we eat this particular flavour in this brand, we come up with rashes, hives.

“So that is one of the things, and it’s because of one of the flavourings they use on it, and it’s not massive rash, but both of us, we come out in hives on our body.

“We know we avoid the crisps now, but we don’t know what was in the crisps, what the particular substance was. So, again, doing something like a home allergy test in this sense will help.”

Despite his negative experience with his allergic reaction, Colin gushed about how much he enjoyed Dancing on Ice overall.

He exclaimed: “I absolutely loved it. I mean, each day I was pinching myself to say what I was doing during lockdown.

“I was learning to skate, I was getting a life skill, and people go, ‘How is skating a life skill?’ But it is, you’re learning, so you’re engaging your mind and the physical aspect of it as well, of skating and training.”

LeBron James’ Daughter Zhuri, 6, Is So Cute Flexing Just Like Daddy: ‘My Workout Partner’ — See Pic

LeBron James had an adorable workout session in the gym with his daughter, Zhuri, as the Los Angeles Lakers star continues to heal from a high ankle sprain.

LeBron James[1]‘ “workout partner” may not be old enough to spot him, but she sure is adorable! The 36-years-old Los Angeles Lakers star hit the gym with his six-year-old daughter, Zhuri, where they snapped a precious photo together. While posing in front of the gym’s mirror, both father and daughter flexed their arms and showed off their muscles for the camera.

Zhuri rocked a purple tie-dye tank top and leggings set that matched the lavender yoga ball she posed on, while her dad showed off his six-pack in red and grey gym shorts. King James[2] was also sporting a leg cast, after suffering a high ankle sprain during the second quarter of the Lakers’ game against the Atlanka Hawks inside the Staples Center on March 20, per CBS Sports[3].

LeBron could now miss up to “several weeks” of play time, according to CBS Sports, which cited The Athletic. Unfortunately, LeBron’s injury happened just two days into the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament (AKA, March Madness[4]).

LeBron voiced his frustration on Twitter right after the injury happened, writing, “Nothing angers and saddens me more than not being available to and for my teammates! I’m hurt inside and out right now...The road back from recovery begins now. Back soon like I never left. #ThekidfromAKRON.”

At least LeBron has his daughter, Zhuri, by his side as he heals! Zhuri is always putting a smile on LeBron’s face, like the time she did a freestyle dance[9] with her dance instructor to Cardi B[10]‘s hit song “Up.” LeBron was amused by his mini-me’s moves which he posted to Instagram on March 14; he wrote, “Yeah it’s officially over for me guys!! I feel bad for whomever my Baby Z decides to bring home first!”

LeBron and Zhuri also enjoyed “coloring time” together[11] while sitting outside their LA mansion and listening to music in the beginning of March. Whether they are at the gym or doing arts and craft, LeBron is always having a good time with Zhuri, who is the youngest of his three children whom he shares with wife Savannah Brinson[12]. The couple also shares two sons: Bryce, 13, and Bronny, 16.
