Roger Federer names ‘nice’ aspect of Novak Djokovic’s US Open final vs Daniil Medvedev

“I think it is possible that it’s going to be and going to happen again.

“We saw it with Novak, myself and Rafa [Nadal] that we come extremely close, but doing it I think you need a bit of luck, you need personal strengths, you need everything and that’s why I think it’s going to be hard but it’s possible.

“We have to ask also Rod Laver what he thought because he was sitting first row watching Novak play, but what Novak did this year was truly exceptional.”

Although Djokovic and Federer remain level for now, the Serb holds the age advantage which makes it highly likely he will pull away as the all-time Grand Slam leader in the future.

Roger Federer claims that one of the brightest elements of Novak Djokovic’s US Open final defeat to Daniil Medvedev was seeing legend Rod Laver watching on from the stands. The beaten finalist was aiming to equal a feat achieved by Laver back in the 1960s when he held all four Grand Slam titles simultaneously in a single year.

Laver won a total of 11 Grand Slams during his illustrious career, as well as achieving the calendar Grand Slam most recently in 1969.

In 2016, Djokovic became the first man since Laver to hold all titles simultaneously, although he aimed to go one better in 2021 by holding all available Grand Slam titles within a single year.

He achieved success at Wimbledon, the Australian Open and, most difficult of all, the French Open, but fell agonisingly short by losing out in the final at Flushing Meadows.

His straight-sets defeat to Medvedev, 6-4 6-4 6-4, ensured that the 34-year-old stayed level with both Federer and Rafa Nadal on a total of 20 Grand Slams each.

That was not the prime reason the Swiss found joy in witnessing Medvedev’s maiden Grand Slam title, however.

“For me, Rod Laver is an absolute, true legend of the game and not only him but his whole generation of players,” Federer told Mercedez-Benz.

“I’m really thankful for everything they have done back in the day.

“It was nice to see him again at the US Open in the finals watching Novak trying to equal his counted Grand Slam.

The 40-year-old’s hopes of adding more to his collection are fading, not helped by undergoing his third knee surgery within the past 18 months, but he admitted that recovery is going well.

“I’m feeling actually really good considering that things are not as I hope they would be, but you know I’m recovering well and rehab is going really good,” he said.

“Of course, I wish I could be back on the tennis court as quick as possible but I have to be patient and look, it’s a slower period right now.

“I’ve got to take it step by step but so far so good so, I am very happy.”

N-ice! New Russian passenger jet passes tests in freezing conditions (VIDEO)

Russia has tested its first post-Soviet large domestic airliner, the MC-21-300, in freezing conditions to see how it performs when covered with ice. Hours of tests have proven the jet can safely fly in harsh conditions.

The aircraft successfully completed certification tests under natural icing conditions in northern Russia, its manufacturer Irkut Corporation, part of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), revealed earlier this week.

It made some 14 flights lasting from three to five hours over the coast of the White Sea, part of the Barents Sea and the Subpolar Urals area. The routes were specifically picked because of the high humidity and low temperatures found there, which lead to ice formation on aircraft surfaces.

The certification flights were conducted in several steps. First, the crew looked for clouds that would create the required conditions. Special equipment installed on the plane, including 12 cameras, then allowed them to control how much of the aircraft’s surface was covered with ice and record how it was functioning. After the ice layer was thick enough, the airliner gained altitude to check its performance under those conditions.

Ice thickness was increased with each test flight, finally reaching eight centimeters – more than enough to say that the plane successfully passed the test. According to Russian and European standards, an aircraft shouldn’t lose its designed characteristics while covered a layer of ice 7.6 cm thick.

After completing the certification flights, the MC-21-300 returned from Arkhangelsk to the Zhukovsky airport near Moscow on Wednesday.

Irkut has been successfully flying the MC-21 for more than three years, but US sanctions forced the corporation to think of ways to develop the aircraft using more domestic components. A variant of the MC-21, known as MC-21-310 aircraft, equipped with two Russian PD-14 engines made its maiden flight at the end of last year.

Hailey Baldwin Admits Viral TikTok That Called Her Out As ‘Not Nice’ Made Her ‘So Upset’

During a conversation about mental health, Hailey Baldwin opened up about how a viral TikTok video about her took a toll on her.

A former restaurant hostess who once served Hailey Baldwin[1] claimed that the supermodel was “not nice” as a customer. The accusation was made on TikTok during summer 2020, and the woman’s video quickly went viral. Hailey apologized for her behavior at the time, but spoke out more about the situation while discussing mental health with Dr. Jessica Clemons on YouTube.

“When I saw her video, I was so upset,” Hailey admitted. “There’s never an excuse for being rude. I felt bad that that was her experience with me, but it made me kind of frustrated because you never know what someone’s going through. I remember going through times in my life where I was so sad and so heartbroken, that, like, engaging with people felt hard for me.”

Hailey has been open in the past about how comments on social media have taken a toll on her mental health, and has mostly learned how to rise above the trolls. However, this video stuck with her. “I wish I didn’t act that way towards her,” she added. “I’m a human and I made a mistake and I acted in a way that was out of character for me. I acted a way that I don’t want to be. I’m trying to do better every single day. I want to continue to grow as a person. I’m open to people correcting me.”

In the TikTok video, which received millions of views, the restaurant hostess said, “This is going to be controversial. I’ve met [Hailey] a handful of times and every time she was not nice. I really wanna like her but I have to give her a 3.5 out of 10. Sorry!” Like millions of others, Hailey caught wind at the video of the time, and popped into the comments section to apologize. “Just came across this video and wanted to say so sorry if I’ve ever given you bad vibes or a bad attitude,” she wrote. “That’s never my intention.” The woman accepted Hailey’s apology and praised her for taking accountability.

Of course, Hailey’s husband[2]Justin Bieber[3], is also no stranger to trolls, either. During part one of Hailey’s chat with Dr. Clemons, which dropped on March 31, Hailey opened up about how the singer has helped her deal[4] with online hate. She revealed that Justin pushed her to limit using Instagram and Twitter to avoid hateful comments. “I really give him credit,” Hailey gushed. “He’s been doing this so much longer at this really massive level.”

Random: Story Of Seasons' Photo Mode Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive TownNintendo Life

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town is a pleasant, relaxing little farm simulation game, where players can gently explore a town, raise livestock, and have a lovely old time.

Every now and again, though, you’ll have to wait through a loading screen – and loading screens are boring! They’re just a blank image most of the time, or worse, a black screen. But XSEED is one step ahead, folks – they’ve decided to show the photos of other people playing the game, so you have something nice to look at.

In theory, anyway. In practice, it’s more like this.

That’s pretty fun, isn’t it? Makes you think that maybe our title is a little bit over-dramatic. Hey, let’s have some more of those goofs!

Wow, talk about making loading screens fun again! What else have people documented?

Oh. Oh no.

Poor Nguyen! He can’t help that he’s so much shorter than all the women in town…

Does Olive Town have a jail?

…Yup.

We can only imagine that XSEED expected their players to be a little more exacting with their photos. It could even be that some of these photographers didn’t, erm, expect their photos to be splashed across the loading screens of thousands.

Have you been treated to any… interesting loading screen photos? Tell us about them in the comments.

Harry Redknapp 'wasn't a nice guy' and personality 'was a myth' Rowan Vine raged

Redknapp is one of the country’s most loved football managers, earning acclaim for his spells leading Tottenham Hotspur into the Champion’s League, and being the last Englishman to lift the FA Cup, while in charge of Portsmouth. He earned a wealth of new fans after becoming King of the Jungle on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, with viewers enchanted by his relaxed and engaging manner. The 74-year-old’s love of jam roly-poly, as well as his long marriage to wife Sandra, also proved vital in bewitching admirers back when his popularity was at its peak in 2018.
Described by some as one of the greatest managers to never lead the England national football team, Redknapp’s warmth was also felt by a number of players.

The likes of Peter Crouch and Jermaine Defoe, strikers who followed Harry to a number of clubs including Tottenham and Portsmouth, have spoken highly of his influence on and off the pitch.

Yet, according to Vine – who made 13 appearances for Portsmouth at the start of his career – Redknapp’s off-field persona was completely different to when he was on the training pitch.

Speaking to Under the Cosh podcast, the 38-year-old recalled how, when Redknapp took over the reigns of Portsmouth in 2002, he played a couple of games before being shipped out on loan to Brentford.

When asked what Redknapp was like, Vine said: “Back then, I didn’t like him.

“He wasn’t the Harry you saw on I’m A Celebrity, it wasn’t all the jam roly polys you know. It was like the old 51:10 [mobile phone] was out, and he was like, ‘Who the f**k does he think he is?'”

He claimed: “I liked Harry, and he’d say now that he likes me, because we do get on now, I’ve seen him and we’ve interlinked a few times.

“But back in the day he wasn’t a nice guy.”

Redknapp’s last job in management came during a doomed spell in 2017 when he managed Birmingham City for just 13 games.

After a long playing career, Redknapp started out as a manager at AFC Bournemouth in 1983.

But Vine’s remarks were completely different to what viewers found of Redknapp when he appeared on the popular ITV show.

TV critic Emma Bullimore told BBC Radio 5 Live after Redknapp won that he was “the favourite all the way through”.

She added: “With all of his little idiosyncrasies and little catchphrases, he was absolutely brilliant entertainment value and a very worthy winner.

“There was no game plan, there was no pretence, he was just himself. He came across as such a genuinely nice man.”
