Vodafone offering FREE 5G: How to get superfast data at no extra cost

Vodafone offering FREE 5G: How to get superfast data at no extra cost

Vodafone is offering free 5G data to customers of its Voxi service. All new and existing customers of the contract free mobile operator will be offered the superfast 5G mobile data as standard at “no extra cost”. Voxi said the 5G upgrade “means that every customer will be able to download and stream up to ten times faster – even when in busy places”.

Announcing the news on Twitter, Voxi said: “5G is fast. Really fast. And now we’ve added it to all our plans, at no extra cost. So you can enjoy super-speedy, buffering-free #5G, at home and abroad, from just £10/month – all you need is a 5G-ready phone.”

As reported by ISPreview, until July 29 new customers can also claim even more data thanks to a new deal.

This offers 15GB of data for just £10 – which is the usual price for 8GB of monthly data.

Not only that, Voxi also gives customers endless data for Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat and Twitter.

You can also cancel your contract at any time, and – unlike many other mobile providers – Voxi is still offering EU roaming.

So you can use calls, texts and data in the EU without having to pay any exorbitant fees.

Just be aware there’s a 20GB fair usage limit on the data.

If you like the sound of this mobile phone package then click here to head to the Voxi website.

Voxi is also 20GB of monthly data for £15 per month – which is the price of 15GB usually.

This package offers the same perks as the 15GB deal with one other added bonus.

The 20GB deal for £15 per month also includes Voxi’s Endless Video.

This means you can stream TikTok, or Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime Video without eating into your monthly data allowance.

One of the big benefits of Voxi is Endless Flexibility, which means it’s easy to cancel your Voxi plan at anytime.

Explaining this feature, Voxi said: “Our flexible monthly plans keep you in control so you’re free to change, pause or cancel your plan anytime. Even if you buy a phone with us, this flexibility still applies and you’re not tied into your VOXI plan.”

Nectar loyalty card offering new points boost for customers - everything to know

A Nectar card can be used to collect points at Sainsbury’s, Esso, Asos as well as places like eBay. The amount of points customers collect varies, but supermarket giant Sainsbury’s typically offers one point for every £1 spent. In its latest deal, customers can receive free points when connecting their payment card.

There are also bigger offers available including 1,400 points for signing up to Simply Cook and spending at least £9.99.

What’s available on offer will vary as the offers will be based personalised and based on shopping habits.

Once an offer is activated, customers can immediately earn points.

Although the full list of retailers taking part hasn’t been published, Nectar has said hundreds of outlets are included.

Retailers include FatFace, Coach, Kate Spade, Matalan and Pets at Home.

Quick, Five Guys, Harvey Nichols and Hawes & Curtis are other outlets where customers can earn points.

For those who haven’t signed up for a card yet, the app can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play.

It is important to note that by connecting a debit or credit card means that Nectar holds sensitive information including bank account details and transactions.

Although they only have ‘read-only’ access, it does share the data with processing partner Cardylitics.

Taking to social media to share their thoughts, Nectar card holders shared the benefits of Nectar Connect.

One person said: “I love using it, it means I can save a lot more money. But points can take up to 25 days to be added so just something to be aware of.”

Another wrote: “I would have liked a little more reassurance when signing up but I’m sure all my data will be safe.”

A third tweeted: “I had issues when activating my bank account and I’ve seen a lot of others having the same problem.

“It took a while to connect and I had to keep trying but it worked eventually.”

When shopping at Sainsbury’s, customers can also collect points through personalised offers.

Halifax will soon be offering customers free £100 cash payment – are you eligible?

Halifax will soon be offering customers free £100 cash payment - are you eligible?

The offer means Halifax customers who open a new Ultimate Reward Current Account from July 7 may be able to get a £100 payment. Switchers will need to open the new account through the Current Account Switch Service, and switch from a bank account held with another provider.

Martin Turner, Head of Personal Current Accounts, Halifax, said: “We’re excited to be re-introducing our £100 switching offer, this time for new customers of our Ultimate Reward Current Account.

“The account offers fantastic benefits and rewards – including insurance cover, lifestyle benefits, cashback and more.

“The Current Account Switching Service makes it really easy to join us, transferring direct debits, standing orders and salary commitments, to your new account within seven days.”

New Ultimate Reward account holders will also benefit from a six-month fee free overdraft.

DON’T MISS

The switching process takes seven days, and Halifax said customers will receive their £100 within that time.

To qualify for the £100 offer, a new Ultimate Reward Current Account must be opened, and the customer must switch from a bank account held with another bank via the Current Account Switch Service.

A new Ultimate Reward Current Account must be applied for – a person cannot change their existing Halifax Current Account or Reward Current Account to an Ultimate Reward Current Account.

This must be opened between July 7 and August 3, and the switch service must be started by August 3, 2021.

Furthermore, a person won’t be eligible if, since April 2020, they’ve received a switching offer for switching to a Reward Current Account or Ultimate Reward Current Account.

People switching to a joint account, where one of the parties to the join account has already received a switching incentive since April 2020, also won’t qualify.

Furthermore, a person won’t qualify if the bank they’re switching from doesn’t participate in the Current Account Switch Service.

Only one offer is available per customer, and joint accounts will only be eligible for one payment.

PS5 restock: Argos and Amazon UK reportedly offering final June PlayStation 5 stock drop

PS5 restock: Argos and Amazon UK reportedly offering final June PlayStation 5 stock drop

June could end with thousands more PlayStation 5 consoles being released to buy in the UK.

For now, nothing big is expected to be announced during the weekend, meaning that stock trackers can probably pause looking for restock between June 26 and June 27.

However, next week should include at least one major drop from a major retailer, with a PS5 restock expected from Argos and Amazon UK.

There have already been several hosted in June from Currys, Argos, GAME, Smyths and GameByte, and this could be the last of the month.

From what has been shared so far by stock trackers, the final drops will happen between June 28 and June 30.

Monday drops are rare occurrences, making it more likely that PS5 stock will drop on Tuesday, June 29.

However, like with all of these predictions, gamers will have to take it with a pinch of salt until we learn more.

The latest news on the subject comes from PS5 Stock Alert UK on Twitter, with the account revealing that 10,000 consoles will reportedly arrive from Argos over the coming days.

The full message reads: “As we’ve predicted a whole month ago, Argos have received 10K units of the PlayStation 5 Disc Edition.

“Distribution to hubs and stores have begun nationwide. Expect a drop sometime this week. No Digital Edition insight.”

The Argos PS5 stock drop is expected to happen very early in the morning, and gamers are being warned to be ready to try and buy a console between 1am BST and 4am BST.

Meanwhile, Amazon UK usually drops stock between 8am BST and 11am BST on its chosen dates.

The dates for the Amazon stock drop have come from PS5 Instant, another tracker account with a good record.

It’s unclear why Sony are favouring Disc Edition over the Digital PS5, but it appears to be linked to meeting demand for the most requested product.

Knowing when a PS5 restock is happening can be vital but it’s also worth knowing how each retailer handles its shipments.

And here are a few examples of how best to try and buy a PlayStation 5 console from leading UK retailers:

AMAZON UK:

ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and keeping an eye on local store listings. Argos is expected to receive more stock by the end of June.

GAME: GAME is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase.

BT and Virgin Media rival is offering ultra fast broadband at a ludicrously low price

BT and Virgin Media rival is offering ultra fast broadband at a ludicrously low price

BT and Virgin Media continue to roll out their ludicrously fast 1Gbps broadband across the country. These ultimate speeds, which are around 15 times faster than the UK average, will allow subscribers to download a full HD movie in under 40 seconds or whizz a blockbuster PS5 title to their console in just 10 minutes – the same game would take a finger-tapping two hours on a standard 60Mbps connection.

It’s clearly the future of the internet, but it does come at a cost. BT charges a hefty £59.99 for its 1Gbps connection whilst Virgin wants to take £62 per month out of your bank account for those incredible speeds.

That’s not exactly cheap, but one smaller rival to BT and Virgin is currently offering a much more affordable way to get these blistering downloads.

Community Fibre, which provides broadband to homes across London, has just slashed prices on its best connections with things now starting from £20 per month for 150Mbps internet access. There’s also 400Mbps speeds for £27.50 or, if you want the ultimate 1Gbps broadband, you’ll currently pay just £39 per month – that’s £20 cheaper than BT.

Community Fibre says that these deals, which can save up to £240, will be available until July 8 and are based on a 24-month contract.

As it stands, CommunityFibre covers around 100,000 premises across London. Most of these consist of large apartments blocks and purpose-built social housing. The firm also offers broadband connections to businesses too.

Looking ahead, CommunityFibre wants to connect more than one million households within London by the end of 2023. These additional households will be spread throughout the capital city. Most recently, CommunityFibre expanded its services into the London Borough of Sutton.

1Gbps clearly sounds incredible but before you sign up for any new broadband deals it’s worth working out exactly what speeds you really need.

A small home with one person surfing the web each night and sending a few emails clearly won’t need 1Gbps, but a big family full of people streaming Netflix, video calling the office, and downloading the latest PlayStation and Xbox console titles may find those faster downloads an absolute necessity.

One thing to remember is that the internet in your home is a bit like a motorway. The more traffic that runs through it the slower it can get. This basically means that if your kids are downloading huge PS5 games and watching Disney+ in 4K whilst you are in the morning Teams meeting things can start to struggle.

If you opt for better speeds you’ll be able to do more things at once without everything starting to buffer.

Is Virgin Media about to shake up the market offering you totally FREE broadband?

Is Virgin Media about to shake up the market offering you totally FREE broadband?

It’s not often you get something for free but it seems some Virgin Media customers are getting exactly that. As spotted by a reader of internet-obsessed blog ISPreview, it appears that Virgin is trailing a new service that offers broadband without users paying a penny for the privilege.

Explaining more in a post, the reader explained: “So I was surprised to come across an advert this week offering a Free Broadband service from Virgin Media. “Once I’d worked out it wasn’t fraudulent I placed the order, pretty straight forward, Name, Address and nothing else.

“Since had confirmation emails and account details and confirmation of delivery for the Hub.”

The service appears to offer fairly low speeds of just 10Mbps but considering it’s totally free some might not be too concerned by those sluggish downloads. The offering, called “Be Connected Broadband”, was only available to 200 people as a trial but it could be a taste of things to come from the broadband firm.

As the terms explain, the reason that it’s free is Virgin wants those signing up to accept that they will then be targeted by adverts.

“Customer must consent to marketing to receive free service. 30 day rolling contract, £0 a month,” the telecoms company said on its website.

If the trial is a success then it’s possible more people could get this very basic broadband if they are happy to watch sponsored messages.

In a statement sent to ISPreview, a Virgin spokesperson said: “We are always working to improve our products so regularly trial new services and offers. We have some really exciting projects underway and our customers have a lot to look forward to.”

Hopefully Virgin will roll this free ad-based service to more users in the future and it’s possible that other Internet Service Providers could then follow with similar incentives.

News of this free broadband comes as Virgin Media and O2 recently confirmed that they are now one joint firm.

The new company, simply called Virgin Media O2, is promising some serious investment across its combined infrastructure and it seems broadband customers could be first to see the changes.

Until now, Virgin has only offered its blisteringly quick 1Gbps speeds to a limited number of users but that’s all about change.

According to an update to celebrate the two companies joining forces, Virgin says that it will deliver these ultra-fast speeds to more people soon.

“Virgin Media O2 is already the nation’s largest gigabit broadband operator and will deliver these speeds across our entire network by the end of the year,” the company said in a post on its website.

Speaking at the launch of the new company, Lutz Schüler, CEO of Virgin Media O2, added: “With the fastest broadband and most reliable mobile network in the UK today, Virgin Media O2 is the complete package.

“We are ready to shake up the market and be the competitor the country needs at a time when choice has never been more important. Through investment and innovation in cutting-edge infrastructure and future technology, we will connect more people to the things they love, support communities across the country, help businesses to grow, and power the UK economy.

“With no limit to our ambition, we’re here to upgrade the UK – and our mission starts today.”
