Is GTA Online shutting down? Grand Theft Auto 6 fans don’t need to worry

With Rockstar Games moving very slowly toward launching GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, it leaves current fans wondering how GTA Online could be affected.

For those who might not have played it yet, GTA Online is the hugely popular multiplayer spin-off of GTA V.

Released back in 2013, GTA Online has grown in active players and ambition every year since.

The combination of being able to explore the giant San Andreas map alongside friends and enemies has made it an enduring success across all compatible platforms.

But with Grand Theft Auto 6 coming out, fans are still left wondering if Rockstar Games will pull the plug on services anytime soon.

The chances of the GTA Online servers shutting down for good across PS4, Xbox One and PC between now and 2023 are improbable.

With no active releases since Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar and parent company Take-Two Interactive rely on GTA Online to produce concurrent spending.

Take-Two have plenty of other franchises to draw from, making it easier for Rockstar Games to focus on supporting GTA Online.

And the multiplayer is so popular with gamers that there would be no reason to shut down servers on PC, PS4 or Xbox One.

The only real reason to shut down GTA Online is if Rockstar Games were about to release a new Grand Theft Auto experience.

If GTA 6 was to launch next week with its own multiplayer tie-in, Rockstar Games could be inclined to drop support.

But with recent reports suggesting that the next Grand Theft Auto won’t be ready to play until 2025, there seems no reason to worry about that for now.

The whole idea that Rockstar Games could wait years to release GTA 6 only speaks to how strong GTA Online performs every month.

The full announcement from Rockstar Games explains: “As we continue to move forward with updates and support for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions of Grand Theft Auto Online — as well as prepare for this Fall’s launches of the new expanded and enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, including website stat tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club, will officially be shutting down on December 16, 2021.

“In addition, Shark Cash Cards for GTA Online will no longer be sold for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions after September 15, 2021.

“Please note, these changes are strictly for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of GTA Online, and will have no impact on access to, or progress within, the Grand Theft Auto V Story Mode.

“Additionally, website stat tracking via the Rockstar Games Social Club and other features for select PS3 and Xbox 360 titles will be shutting down on September 16, 2021.”

Miller Outdoor Theatre changes online ticketing

HOUSTON, Texas — Miller Outdoor Theatre will soon change its online ticketing system to benefit its patrons.

Starting July 7, the theater will be making its online tickets available through its website two days before a performance, according to a June 30 news release.

Tickets are currently available seven days prior to a performance. The system has made it difficult for patrons to get online tickets for the theater’s covered seating, which sell out within minutes of them being made available, according to the release.

In addition, some of the patrons who obtained these tickets a week prior were not showing up. Therefore, the hope is that more people will be certain they can attend by making these tickets available two days prior to a performance.

The ticket changes come after Miller Outdoor Theatre announced it would bring back in-person performances as part of its 98th season, which began May 1.

As part of that announcement, the theater adopted an online ticketing process to provide an extra safety measure and improve the overall process.

For more information on tickets and performance, visit the Miller Outdoor Theatre website.

Ever stream movies illegally online? A big fine could be in the post

They demanded the UK ISP handed over personal details of alleged copyright infringers.

In 2015 the UK High Court granted this request, with London-based firm Hatton & Berkeley sending out demands for cash settlements in the aftermath.

Three years after first sending out letters, alleged movie pirates were still getting demands for cash settlements.

In September 2019 Hatton & Berkley partnered with FACT, the UK’s leading intellectual property (IP) protection firm.

And then, not long after that, another firm joined the H & B Administration LLP team.

This company is Voltage Pictures. While last month Azil Productions LLC also partied with Hatton & Berkley.

“Argos PS5 Stock Release. Online drop will still occur (28th to 30th) BUT some stores are allowing physical PS5 sales today & tomorrow!” reads a PS5 UK Stock – Instant Update tweet.

Valkyria Chronicles Is The Next Nintendo Switch Online Trial In Japan

While it’s a relatively niche series, especially in the West, Valkyria Chronicles has a dedicated fanbase. With the original and Valkyria Chronicles 4 – which story-wise is around the same timeline as the first game – both available on Nintendo Switch, meanwhile, we’ve been able to enjoy this quirky take on turn-based strategy/combat.

Anyone unconvinced in Japan, or those that have a valid Nintendo Switch Online account for the country, will have the chance to try out the first game in a Trial from next week, between 5th – 11th July. After the trial concludes both the original and 4 will be discounted by a third on the Japanese eShop.

We’re certainly fans of both games, though presumably due to porting challenges the newer title actually performs better on the Switch; that said, considering the genre you can certainly enjoy the original despite some occasionally choppy frames.

Of course, the game trials in Japan don’t always sync up with Western markets, though the trend often has a new offering following in Europe and North America a little while after the Japanese equivalent. We had a Descenders trial in late April, so perhaps another one will be on the way soon.

Would you like Valkyria Chronicles to be the next Nintendo Switch Online trial outside of Japan, or do you have another choice? Let us know in the comments!

Fast & Furious 9 streaming: Can you watch full movie online – Is it legal?

Fast 9 is the first major Hollywood blockbuster to hit cinemas this year. The high octane adventure brings back all the main crew with two main exceptions but also manages to return two iconic characters who were previously believed to be dead. But how can fans watch all the action? With many films being released simultaneously on the big screen and to download, is it possible to watch the latest Fast & Furious movie at home? NOTE: There is a spoiler warning before any discussion of the returning characters at the end of the article.

Fast 9 was released in UK cinemas on June 24 and in the US on June 25.

So far, it has received solid reviews, with a cumulative 61% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The main studios that have announced they will be relating some films online and in cinemas are Disney (which also includes Marvel) and Warner Bros.

Fast & Furious 9 has been released by Universal so here is what to do if you see that the film is available to watch online.

What are the penalties for watching an illegal download?

The Digital Economy Act 2017 means people could now face ten-year prison sentences for illegally streaming copyrighted content.

This currently includes Fast & Furious 9.

When will Fast & Furious 9 be available to stream or download online?

Universal currently does not have its own streaming platform like Disney Plus, or HBO Max for Warner Bros in the US.

To be sure you’re not watching copyrighted material, you should go direct to companies such as Netflix, Sky Cinema, NOW or Amazon Prime, according to FACT (Federation Against Copyright Theft).

Fast & Furious 9 is currently available to preorder on Amazon, but there is no release date as yet.

SPOILER WARNING: Do not read beyond this point if you don’t want to know which dead characters are returning

Fast & Furious 9 picks up the storylines of the original core team. This means The Rock’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw are not part of the main action.

However, there is a time-bending rewriting of the past when the previously dead and immensely popular character Han Lue, played by Sung Kang, is brought back to life. There had been a ‘Justice For Han’ campaign among fans for years, unhappy at his demise at the hands of Deckard Shaw.

The new movie explains that his death was faked so he could go into hiding with his adoptive daughter.

Even more mind-bending is the proposition that Paul Walker’s Brian O’Connor is back. The actor died during the filming of Fast 7 which was rejigged to show O’Connor driving off into the sunset at the end.

In the final scenes of Fast 9, the gang gather for a BBQ and Vin Diesel’s Dom says, “Hold on, there’s still an empty chair,” to which Jordana Brewster’s Mia says of her husband, “He’s on the way.”

The scene cuts to the driveway where we see O’Connor’s iconic  Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R pull up before the credits roll.

Director Justin Lin has said the door is open for some sort of return in the upcoming final two films: “Fast 9 is really the beginning of the final chapter of the saga. So in doing that I think there’s a lot of room to really place our characters, and Brian obviously is a big part of the universe still.”

Will Red Dead Online success change GTA 6 release?

The most recent reports suggest that GTA 6 will be released in 2023 and set during modern times.

There could be significant time jumps to help provide popular content for gamers to enjoy, with plenty of ideas being floated for the anticipated sequel.

For now, Rockstar Games are keeping quiet about what they have planned, and it could be a while before we learn its full plans.

One interesting thing that has been noted is what kind of format changes Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive could use in the launch of GTA 6.

Following the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games followed up with the release of a multiplayer experience.

But unlike GTA Online, Red Dead Online struggled to find an audience, suffering from a lack of content and connection issues.

However, Rockstar Games decided to change up the format of Red Dead Online, making it possible to play without needing to buy the full game.

Red Dead Online became its own product, and has since scored success finding its own player base.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed as much during a recent earnings report, telling investors:

“Sales of Grand Theft Auto V also surpassed our expectations. And to date, the title has sold more than 145 million units worldwide.

“Red Dead Online exceeded our expectations during the fourth quarter with active players increasing significantly in recurrent consumer spending performing above our plans, due in part to the success of the recently released stand-alone version of the game.

“Throughout the period, Rockstar Games released new content updates for Red Dead Online, including brand-new missions for solo players.

And speaking about the future of its biggest franchises and how storytelling could change with the arrival of new metaverse experiences, Zelnick added: “What moves the dial in our business is amazing creativity, great characters, great stories, great graphics, great gameplay, the ability to enjoy those experiences with other people all around the world.

“That’s what really matters. I think what the metaverse implies is what we already do with Grand Theft Auto Online and with what Red Dead Online, what we do with NBA 2K and what we aim to do with some upcoming titles, an opportunity to exist in that fictional world and express yourself in ways that are challenging, fun, competitive and new and find ourselves in places doing things that we can’t really do usually in the real world. I think that’s what it means.”

There was a lot of hype surrounding the release of Red Dead Online, and there’s a good chance that Take-Two is taking note of how its launch went.

They have also noted how performance grew with the stand-alone version of Red Dead Online, and already have plans to do the same with GTA Online on next-gen consoles.

So is it possible that GTA 6 will launch by itself, while GTA Online is peeled off and becomes its own product?

Only time will tell, but for now, it appears Take-Two are happy to experiment when needed and leave things alone that have a proven track record of success.
