Elvis Presley ex Linda Thompson shares throwback pictures from her time dating The King

It’s been almost 50 years since Elvis first met Linda Thompson, the former Miss Tennessee model. The couple ended up living together at Graceland from 1972-76 and in more recent years his former girlfriend has been sharing photos of their time together. In some of her latest Instagram stories, the 71-year-old posted a video collage of couple photos from the elvis_and_linda_gram page.

Linda also shared a picture of The King driving one of his many cars with Tiger Man played over the top.

His former girlfriend captioned the image: “There’s ‘cool’ then there’s ‘Elvis cool’ Great candid…”

Back in 2016, Linda published an autobiography called A Little Thing Called Life: On Loving Elvis Presley, Bruce Jenner and Songs in Between.

The page elvis_and_linda_gram recently posted a clip from an event where Linda was promoting the book, in which she described how she approached writing about The King.

UPDATED WITH PICTURES- Prince Charles visits St Davids Cathedral on Pembrokeshire pilgrimage

PRINCE Charles completed his very own Pembrokeshire pilgrimage last Thursday, July 8, visiting St David’s Cathedral, St Brynach’s Church in Nevern and St Martin of Tours Church in Haverfordwest.

The visits were part of His Royal Highness’ summer tour of Wales. The prince began his visit to Pembrokeshire by joining the choir and congregation in St David’s Cathedral, to commemorate the centenary of the Church in Wales.

Prince Charles arrived at the cathedral to be greeted by Lord-Lieutenant of Dyfed, Sara Edwards, who then introduced him to the Dean of St Davids, The Very Revd Dr Sarah Rowland Jones LVO OBE, Sub-Dean of St Davids, Revd Canon Leigh Richardson, and the Senior Bishop of the Church in Wales, The Rt Revd Andy John.

The future monarch, last visited St Davids Cathedral when he formally opened the new cloisters in 2008. He also visited the cathedral with Diana on his royal honeymoon tour in October 1981 and on his investiture tour of Wales in 1969.

The prince visited the restored 13th century Shrine of St David in the Presbytery where he met the artists and craftspeople who undertook the 2012 restoration and signed the visitors’ book.

A keen horticulturalist, Prince Charles was very interested to learn about the creation of Erw Dewi – Dewi’s Acre, the Cathedral’s Community Garden and meet with leaders of the project.

His Royal Highness also joined a reception in the Cloister Garth where he was introduced to members of the cathedral and local communities.

After the service, the prince enjoyed a brief walk about and chatted and laughed with the crowds gathered outside the cathedral.

The Dean of St Davids said, The Very Revd Dr Sarah Rowland Jones said: “It was a joy to welcome the Prince of Wales here today.

“He clearly loves the Cathedral, having visited a number of times previously, and he was fascinated to see the Shrine of St David. St Davids has a knack of stealing people’s hearts, and drawing them back, whether consciously as pilgrims or not, and we hope we will welcome Prince Charles again before too long.”

Prince Charles body language ‘dilemma’ as future king goes on ‘unusual’ visit – pictures

Prince Charles, 72, visited bank Goldman Sachs’ new European headquarters in London on Wednesday. The future king is a champion of environmental causes and was there to endorse the new building’s carbon emissions-cutting features.

Clarence House shared photos and footage of the Prince’s latest outing on Twitter.

The first tweet read: “The Prince of Wales today visited @GoldmanSachs.

“Founded in 1869, the company delivers a broad range of financial services across investment banking, securities, investment management and consumer banking to a large and diversified client base.”

A second followed up: “The sustainability features built into @GoldmanSachs’ new HQ result in a 25% reduction in annual CO2 emissions.”

The future king settled for formal body language in the end and treated the lined-up members of bank staff as if they were “troops on parade”.

Judi added: “In the end Charles appears to have settled for the kind of rituals that he might use when he’s inspecting troops on parade, walking down the line of workers with one hand part-stuffed in his jacket pocket in a rather awkward-looking truncated ritual after chatting to a small group that clapped him on arrival.”

The prince played on his “desire to be popular” when meeting groups of people, Judi claimed.

She added: “The prince also seems to have played to the crowd a little here, hinting at a desire to look popular.”

Charles adopted a celebrity-esque wave rather than a more reserved royal flick of the hand.

Judi added: “His high waving hand gesture was less of a tempered royal wave and more something a little bit celebrity.”

On Wednesday, Charles spoke to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme about sustainable farming.

Touching on the “hidden costs” of modern industrial farming, the eco-conscious Prince said: “The fact that these costs are hidden encourages us to ignore them; for example, our current approach is forcing many small family farms to the wall.

“If they go, it will quite simply rip the heart out of the British countryside and break the backbone of Britain’s rural communities.”

He added: “If we regenerate degraded soils around the world, we could capture as much as 70 percent of the world’s carbon emissions, so you can see farming can play a big part in protecting the planet.”

Prince Charles body language: Future king ‘humbled’ at historic military outing – pictures

Judi said: “With his chest strung with medals and his face wreathed in smiles, Charles looks delighted but also rather bashful to be presenting the Parachute Regiment with new colours here, beaming with genuine pride but with his posture suggesting he might also be feeling humbled by the troops he was meeting.”

Charles looked notably more relaxed than the military men he met at the event, Judi claimed.

The analyst added: “As he stands beside and in front of men who are pulled up rigidly to attention with their shoulders broadened and their body power at chest level, Charles uses a much more relaxed pose, with his head down, his shoulders and chest slightly lowered and his stomach arched out comfortably rather than pulled in.”

The future king did not try to mimic the posture of those around him, Judi claimed.

Kate Middleton: 5 pictures of future Queen that would make husband Prince William proud

Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, 39, was characterised as shy when she first married Prince William, 39, in 2011. But in the decade since their spectacular royal wedding, the future Queen Consort has thrived in the limelight in a way that will be hugely reassuring to her husband, a body language expert has claimed. Touching on Kate’s transformation, body language expert and author Judi James told Express.co.uk the Duchess has shone during the pandemic.

Judi said: “For the past couple of years and especially since lockdowns started, we have been able to meet Kate properly as an independent royal; future Queen and of course wife and mother.”

Judi added: “If William was worried about the extra exposure and the increased interest in his wife he clearly didn’t need to.

“Her appearances as a campaigner in her own right; as a royal host by herself, and even as a very influential royal within the Firm have all revealed her traits of confidence and inner resolve.”

Judi analysed five powerful photos of Kate taken since the start of the year and shared her insights with Express.co.uk.

Judi added: “Kate might have previously been more self-effacing and even slightly shy when the cameras are around but here, arriving by herself, she greets the camera with a very direct glance and the flash even adds a gleam to her eye expression.

“The real clincher in terms of Kate’s impact though is that her mouth is hidden behind the mask.

“Kate had always sported a signature smile and without it being visible she could have lost some of her non-verbal impact.

“In fact the opposite is true. By focusing the attention on her eyes rather than her mouth we suddenly saw a new version of Kate that was even stronger and more confident-looking than usual.”

Edinburgh – May

The Duchess donned a pink dress in Edinburgh ahead of meeting Mila, a young girl with cancer, who had always dreamed of meeting a real-life princess.

Responding to the picture of Kate at Holyroodhouse, Judi said: “Kate showed her capacity to go full fairy-tale princess when necessary, arriving here to meet young cancer patient Mila in Edinburgh and fully aware that Mila wanted to see her looking magical.

“Kate will often down-play her presence and status to create rapport when she’s meeting the public, but this was a moment to arrive with a swish of confidence and she played it to the max, making a great entrance with an upright posture and her shoulders pressed down and slightly splayed, her arms hanging down at her sides but held slightly away from her torso and her eyes crinkled in a very confident but friendly eye-smile of greeting.

“She wanted to create a magical memory for Mila and her family and she more than achieved that.”

Early Childhood Centre launch – June

Kate stepped out solo at Kensington Palace to launch the new Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in June.

Judi said: “This pose shows Kate in active campaigning mode as she turned up alone to launch an early childhood centre.

“This year we have seen Kate launching her own initiatives and making speeches and TV presentations with almost professional skills and confidence.

“Her style is inspirational rather than challenging or hectoring but it is just as powerful for that.”

Kate and First Lady Jill Biden – June

The Duchess spent time with USA First Lady Jill Biden during her and President Joe Biden’s visit to the UK last month.

Judi said: “Kate is in the role of royal host here and again her elevated levels of confidence show.

“When she first met Michelle Obama we could see the First Lady putting Kate at her ease but with several years under her belt, Kate looks happy to put Jill Biden at her ease here, chatting in a very friendly way and looking relaxed as she uses some active listening signals.”

Wimbledon finals – July

Kate shone in her role as patron of Wimbledon tennis tournament at the event’s finals this weekend.

Judi said: “Kate has always been a fan of the Wimbledon championships but we’ve normally just had glimpses of her sitting in the royal box.

“Here though she walks down to meet the ball boys and girls and again her confidence signals look raised to a new level.

“Rubbing her hands in anticipation she appears to be sharing a joke with them here.

“Instead of the usual ‘perfect smile’ her mouth is held open in a much more fun expression.

“This ability to joke with groups is one that both her husband and his father have always shared and it is a reflection of Kate’s increased social confidence that she is able to create this level of rapport.”

This is why Victorians were obsessed with taking pictures of dead relatives

After 1860, it become more popular to pose the dead as if they were awake by propping them up on a chair and painting eyes onto the corpse’s eyelids.

The demand for post-mortem photography began to diminish as photography became cheaper and more commonplace, so families were more likely to have plenty of photographs of their loved one while they were alive.

Medical advancements also meant people were living longer and far fewer children died in infancy, which in turn made more people squeamish about death.

Deadly fire at Bangladesh food processing factory

A fire in a Bangladesh food factory has killed at least 43 people, police said on Friday, as emergency services brought out bodies even as the building was still in flames.

The blaze broke out in the factory in Rupganj, an industrial town 25km (15 miles) east of capital Dhaka, on Thursday afternoon and was still burning nearly 24 hours later.

Many of the 30 injured leapt for their lives from the upper floors of the complex.

It was unclear how many people were trapped inside, though distraught relatives outside and other factory workers said they feared that others might not have escaped.

Mohammad Saiful, a factory worker who escaped, said dozens of people were inside when the blaze erupted.

“On the third floor, gates on both stairwells were closed. Other colleagues are saying there were 48 people inside. I don’t know what happened to them,” he said.

Police initially gave a death toll of three, but it rose dramatically as firefighters reached the upper floors and started bringing out dozens of bodies of trapped workers.

The charred victims were piled in a fleet of ambulances to take them to mortuaries amid anguished shouts and tears from people watching in the streets.

Police dispersed hundreds of people who blocked nearby roads and clashed with officers.

Fires are common in Bangladesh due to the lax enforcement of safety rules. In February 2019, 70 people died when an inferno ripped through several Dhaka apartment blocks.

UFO spotted hovering over Devon seafront for 10 seconds before vanishing – pictures

Matthew Evans was looking out of his top-floor flat when he made the shocking realisation that something unusual was in the sky. The UFO appeared to have four bright lights in a triangular-shaped formation, which Mr Evans managed to take photos of before it disappeared.

The UFO lingered above the seafront for “10 seconds” before it rapidly “zoomed off”, he said.

Mr Evans, who is originally from Tidmouth, Devon where the sighting was made, is certain the object was not a standard aircraft because of the way it moved.

He said: “I couldn’t help but see it.

“My kitchen window gives a great view of the sea so when it came across the horizon – it wasn’t moving like a plane would.

“It was moving a lot slower and went up and down for a bit before hovering a good ten seconds.”

The 36-year-old managed to take some pictures of the object before it whizzed off into the distance.

Mr Evans added: “It stayed in one spot long enough for me to pull out my phone and get those snaps.

“Then it quickly zoomed off at some speed and I couldn’t see it anymore.”

Princess Diana statue outfit represents her ‘confidence in final years’ -style in pictures

Today marks what would have been Diana’s 60th birthday, with tributes being paid around the world to the late Princess. The Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex have unveiled a statue to honour their late mother at the Sunken Garden, in Kensington Palace.

However, during her last years when she was very involved with charity projects, her new looks became more casual and she opted for more low cut dresses.

For Diana’s statue, this has been indeed the chosen style, in order to represent the final period of her life.

In the bronze statue, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, we see Princess Diana in a midi dress featuring long sleeves and a belt.

“The portrait and style of dress was based on the final period of her life as she gained confidence in her role as an ambassador for humanitarian causes and aims to convey her character and compassion,” an official statement said.

Diana is shown standing alongside three children chosen to represent the “universality and generational impact” of her work.

Kensington Palace explained that it aims to “reflect the warmth, elegance and energy of Diana”.

While Diana was known for wearing elegant outfits during the 80s and 90s, designer Rank-Broadley opted for something more classic for the statue.

And that is because, during her last years, which is the period the designer chose to recreate, the Princess used to wear smart-casual outfits.

In a joint tribute, the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex said: “Today, on what would have been our mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better.

“Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.

“Thank you to Ian Rank-Broadley, Pip Morrison and their teams for their outstanding work, to the friends and donors who helped make this happen, and to all those around the world who keep our mother’s memory alive.”

Julia Bradbury fires back at claims she's too skinny after bikini pictures raise eyebrows

Many took to the comments section of her post to compliment the star and thank her for the summer hack.

However, others discussed her weight and figure in a more negative manner.

An earlier post showed Julia enjoying a staycation and sunbathing in a black bikini.

Again she received comments on her appearance.

“Julia I have always admired your fabulous figure and fitness. But you look so thin at the moment. I do hope you’re OK and well,” one user wrote.

“Yes I think she needs a good few meals,” another added.

Others warned of the danger of commenting on someone’s weight when you don’t know what’s going on in their life.
