Jadon Sancho has written a lengthy and emotional statement addressing his penalty miss in England’s defeat by Italy in Sunday’s Euro 2020 final and the racist abuse that sadly followed.
Sancho was brought on by Gareth Southgate in the final moments of extra-time to take a penalty in the shoot-out at Wembley.
But alongside Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka, the 21-year-old winger could not find the back of the net.
Despite two saves from Jordan Pickford, England were beaten 3-2 on penalties after the 1-1 draw to finish as the tournament’s runners-up.
In the aftermath of the defeat, England’s three young penalty-takers were targeted by cowardly racists online.
Their treatment by a minority of the public has triggered an outpouring of support from the wider footballing community and sparked a debate over how to deal with racism on social media.

“My first thought before going into any football match is always “How can I help my team?, how am I going to assist ? how am I going to score ? how am I going to create chances ? And that’s exactly what I wanted to do with that penalty, help the team.
“I was ready and confident to take it, these are the moment’s you dream of as a kid, it is why I play football. These are the pressured situations you want to be under as a footballer. I’ve scored penalties before at club level, I’ve practiced them countless times for both club and country so I picked my corner but it just wasn’t meant to be this time.
“We all had the same ambitions and objectives. We wanted to bring the trophy home.
This has been one of the most enjoyable camps I’ve been part of in my career so far, the togetherness of the team has been unmatched, a real family on and off the pitch.
“I’m not going pretend that I didn’t see the racial abuse that me and my brothers Marcus and Bukayo received after the game, but sadly it’s nothing new. As a society we need to do better, and hold these people accountable.

“Hate will never win. To all the young people who have received similar abuse, hold your heads up high and keep chasing the dream.
“I am proud of this England team and how we have united the whole nation in what has been a difficult 18 months for so many people.
“Much as we wanted to win the tournament, we will build and learn from this experience going forward. I want to say a massive thank you for all the positive messages and love and support that far outweighed the negative.
“It’s been an honour as always representing England and wearing the Three Lions shirt, and I have no doubt we’ll be back even stronger! Stay safe & see you soon.”
Helen Skelton took to social media yesterday as she soaked up the sun at a luxury spa hotel, before heading home to watch the England game with her family. The This Week On The Farm star could be seen sipping a cocktail as she made the most of the warm weather and sunshine in a bikini.
The 37-year-old TV star put on a busty display as she posed for the camera in her black swimwear.
The mum-of-two swept her hair away from her face and styled it in a high bun, as she enjoyed some down time.
Helen completed her summery look with a pair of stylish dark sunglasses.
“Not even sorry @ruddingparkhotel,” she captioned the snap, which she shared with her 244,000 followers.
SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio police officer who has a history of publishing inappropriate social media posts was disciplined again by the department, according to suspension records recently obtained by KSAT 12 News.
Detective Rudy Guzman received a 20-day suspension in May for his social media activity on Jan. 20, according to suspension records obtained through open record laws.
That day, Guzman posted a photo of guards stationed at the U.S. Capitol “with a related caption about the inauguration,” according to the suspension document. The records do not specify what Guzman wrote in the caption.
“A citizen negatively responded to Detective Guzman’s Facebook post and Detective Guzman posted a derogatory comment in response,” according to the suspension documents.
The citizen then filed a complaint against Guzman, the records showed.
Internal investigators determined Guzman had posted “inappropriate” TikTok videos and memes.
He also posted two videos — one showing a protester standing in front of the military and another showing the Venezuelan military using a water cannon on a protester. He added offensive comments on both videos, according to suspension records.
Matteo has been teasing the arrival of his solo material since 2019. With the world slowly returning to normal he has started to post videos collaborating with musicians, as well as his famous father. His latest upload over the weekend has his fans swooning and has only increased anticipation for his official debut album. SCROLL DOWN TO WATCH MATTEO BOCELLI’S NEW VIDEO
Matteo uploaded a beautiful vocal and piano version of the new song Torno a Te (I Return to You) by Italian rapper and singer Random.
It was performed earlier this year by Random at the annual San Remo music festival and competition. Part of the event is to choose the Italian entry for the Euroviison Song Contest. You can watch Random’s original version below.
Despite the rather lovely song, the young star actually came last out of 26 entries. The winners, of course, were Måneskin, who ended up romping home as the first Italian Eurovision champions since 1990 with the rock anthem Zitti e Buoni.
Matteo wrote: “It’s been two years since my debut at the most important music festival in Italy. I’ll never forget the incredible feeling of walking on to the stage for the first time. That moment marked the beginning of an intense creative journey – I can’t wait to share my music with you soon.”
Matteo had performed Fall On Me with Andrea. The ballad from The Nutcracker and the Four Realms soundtrack would take the father and son across the world, launching Matteo as a star in his own right.
Later in February he added another image of himselfin a recording studio with the message: “Today in the studio recording a special surprise #neverstopexploring”.
This teasing has been going on for a while now. In October last year, Matteo tagged two classic images in a recording studio.
First he wrote: “When you have the chance to spend some time in an amazing studio with some incredibly talented songwriters from all over the world you can only say… grazie.”
He followed that with: “Sessions, sessions, and more sessions to make a #newrecord.”
Fans are desoperately hoping the young star will Return to Them very soon with the new music…

It was a moment to remember during a Call of Duty video game session. Musician, producer, and gaming aficionado Faheem Rasheed Najm, better known by his stage name T-Pain, was playing the first-person shooter game and streaming on Twitch when he got called racist slurs by other players. But he quickly turned the tables.
In a video that has gone viral, racist slurs and “f— Black Lives Matter” could be heard being muttered by other male players. (That audio is bleeped out in the video seen below.) T-Pain responded by jubilantly yelling “One of these motherf—ers is on that n—– shit, and I want all of them. I want every single f—-ing one of them!”
T-Pain got them, virtually. He took out the other players one-by-one in the video game and was declared the victor. “Stupid idiots,” he said at the end of the video, triumphantly sipping from his drink. T-Pain then posted an abbreviated version of the encounter to his TikTok account on April 29, 2021:
We were unable to locate the original video on T-Pain’s Twitch account, and it’s unclear whether Twitch took it down or T-Pain did. (Twitch typically deletes older broadcasts.) We reached out to Twitch for comment and will update this post if we hear back.
Celebrity news and gossip network TMZ surfaced a longer video version of what led up to and followed the moment in which the racial slurs were uttered.
This wasn’t the first time in recent days T-Pain had gone viral. He humorously recounted on Instagram in late April 2021 how he had been unaware of a message request folder on that platform, which had caused him to miss a large number of messages from other celebrities reaching out to him.
Ashanti wrote that she was having ‘great times’ amid her Mexico getaway, underneath a photo with a mystery man! Even Flo Rida, whom Ashanti just recently sparked dating speculation with, commented.
Who’s this? That’s what fans wanted to know after Ashanti posted a photo with a mystery man amid her vacation in Mexico. Adding to the mystery was the fact that the 40-year-old singer tagged just about everyone…the brand of the white mesh dress she was wearing (PatBO), her stylist (Alicia Sereno), and even the name of the restaurant she took the picture at (Taboo Cancún). However, there was no tag over the unidentified hunk, who was dressed up in a blazer and dress pants as he cozied up next to Ashanti.
“Great times,” Ashanti cryptically captioned the photo. The mystery led to a freakout in the comments section. Many fans assumed Ashanti had a “new man,” and showered the hypothetical couple with love in the form of emojis. Others just wanted to know who the mystery man was. And then there were some fans who insisted the man was not Ashanti’s boyfriend at all.
“I’m screaming!!!! That Ashanti pic is the manager of the place they are at,” one fan claimed. Well, whoever the mystery man was, Ashanti was definitely not on a date night: she proceeded to share photos with her vacation crew (which you can see below) and wrote, “When you love this hard it’s worth celebrating.”
Even Flo Rida chimed in under the photo that caused a stir online! The 41-year-old rapper left a trail of praise hand emojis, after JUST sparking romance speculation with Ashanti because they were seen vacationing and yachting together in Cancún earlier in April. However, Ashanti shut down the rumors by responding to a speculative Instagram post on @theshaderoom; she wrote, “Flo is my brother! We’re family! Celebrating my sis @liltuneshi [Kenashia Douglas‘] bday!!! Happy Birthday Bink!”
Man or no man, Ashanti is looking amazing amid her vacation. She was seen rocking a green bikini with zebra stripes amid a beach day in Tulum as she celebrated her sister’s 32nd birthday.
