England vs Denmark: Euro 2020 second semi-final preview

When: Wednesday, July 7
Where: Wembley Stadium, London
Kick-off: 19:00 GMT

Denmark will have to do what no team has done against England at the Euro 2020 to reach the tournament final: score a goal.

The Danes recovered from two losses in their opening games of the tournament and will take on England in the second semi-final at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday.

Denmark not only lost two matches but also its best player, midfielder Christian Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest in the team’s opening match and had to be resuscitated on the field with a defibrillator.

He is now recovering at home but could attend the final.

This is also the farthest Denmark have gotten at a major football tournament since winning the European Championship title in 1992.

England, meanwhile, have not lost a match or concede a goal so far at Euro 2020 and will be playing at their national football stadium.

Road to the semi-finals

England
Beat Croatia 1-0
Drew 0-0 with Scotland
Beat Czech Republic 1-0
Beat Germany 2-0
Beat Ukraine 4-0

Denmark
Lost 0-1 to Finland
Lost 1-2 to Belgium
Beat Russia 4-1
Beat Wales 4-0
Beat Czech Republic 2-1

Can England make it to the final?

Since winning the 1966 World Cup, England have reached only four major semi-finals, losing at the 1990 and 2018 World Cups, as well as Euro 1968 and 1996, when Gareth Southgate infamously missed a crucial penalty in the shoot-out against Germany.

But the current side was impressive in their 4-0 dismantling of Ukraine in Rome on Saturday, heralding a wave of euphoria in the country as media showered the team in praise.

Southgate has been keen to keep the burden of history out of his team’s thinking. If he needs a way to bring his players back down to earth before the semi-final, he does not have to look back far for a warning against complacency.

An England side containing 10 of the current squad lost 0-1 to Denmark in a Nations League match at Wembley last October.

There was a similar feeling among England fans after they beat Sweden in the quarter-finals of the World Cup three years ago in Russia only to fall to Croatia in the semis.

Denmark’s turnaround

After two losses, the Danes managed to get out of Group B with a rousing 4-1 win over Russia in Copenhagen before thrashing Wales 4-0 in Amsterdam.

In the quarter-final, they beat a well-organised Czech side 2-1 in the heat of Baku.

In attack, Martin Braithwaite creates the spaces which Mikkel Damsgaard and Kasper Dolberg have exploited well and there is a threat from attacking wing-backs Jens Stryger Larsen and the excellent Joakim Maehle.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Thomas Delaney are a firm presence in the centre of midfield while the backline in front of goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has been solid.

‘Has football ever come home?’

England’s “Football’s coming home” anthem – roared by fans at Wembley after the Germany game – does not sit well with everyone.

Denmark keeper Kasper Schmeichel took a cheeky swipe at the supposedly triumphalist song, saying: “Has it ever been home? I don’t know, have you ever won it?”

Ericksen shirt presentation

England captain Harry Kane and manager Southgate shared the team’s plan to make a shirt presentation in honour of Eriksen ahead of the semi-final.

“I’m good friends with Chris and, yeah, of course, it will be sad to not see him there,” said Kane.

“He’s a big part of their success over the years and, of course, it was a terrible thing that happened to him. The main thing is that he’s doing well and he’s obviously recovering well, and I’m sure he’ll be rooting for Denmark more than he’ll be rooting for me, for sure.

“So, yeah, of course, there will be a presentation just to show our support from obviously all of us here at England.”

Italy vs Spain: Euro 2020 semi-final preview

When: Tuesday, July 6
Where: Wembley Stadium, London
Kick-off: 19:00 GMT

Italy and Spain meet in a blockbuster first semi-final at Euro 2020 before an expected crowd of 60,000 at Wembley with Tuesday’s game the latest episode in a burgeoning rivalry between the nations meeting in a fourth consecutive European Championship.

Spain won on penalties in the quarter-finals in Vienna in 2008 on their way to winning the trophy and then thrashed Italy 4-0 in the final in Kyiv four years later.

Italy gained a measure of revenge by winning 2-0 in the last-16 at Euro 2016 and the Azzurri appear the favourites this time as they arrive at Wembley having knocked out Belgium in the quarter-finals to stretch their unbeaten run to a remarkable 32 games.

While Italy – whose only European Championship title came in 1968 – have been the standout team at the tournament so far, Spain have overcome a difficult start to reach the semi-finals as they target a record fourth continental crown.

Road to the semi-finals

Italy
Beat Turkey 3-0
Beat Switzerland 3-0
Beat Wales 1-0
Beat Austria 2-1 (after ET)
Beat Belgium 2-1

Spain
Drew 0-0 with Sweden
Drew 1-1 with Poland
Beat Slovakia 5-0
Beat Croatia 5-3 (after ET)
Beat Switzerland 3-1 (penalties)

Spain’s cycle of dominance of European football began and ended with Italy so it is fitting their hopes of a reconquest will see them face Roberto Mancini’s side, who are on their own path towards redemption.

This is a fixture laced with history, not least for coach Luis Enrique, who was left with a broken nose by opponent Mauro Tassotti which went unpunished in a 1994 World Cup quarter-final defeat and to this day sparks feelings of injustice in Spain.

Mancini has got the country falling back in love with the national team by overseeing some sparkling football and creating a real sense of unity demonstrated in the way they have celebrated every victory as if they had won a trophy.

That sense of togetherness could be seen on the pitch as they defended like gladiators in their 2-1 win over Belgium in the quarter-finals and in their raucous tribute on the flight home to defender Leonardo Spinazzola, who tore his Achilles tendon and is out of the tournament.

Spain’s path to the semi-finals has been less smooth, getting off to a croaky start with dull draws against Sweden and Poland before coming to life with a 5-0 win over Slovakia and a 5-3 win against Croatia after extra time.

Their quarter-final success over Switzerland on penalties was far less exciting but had the hallmarks of the shoot-out win over Italy 13 years ago and showcased the team spirit players and Enrique have talked up throughout the tournament.

Enrique has coped with personal tragedy and the effect of negative public opinion to rally his young squad and lead them to the semi-finals.

He incurred the wrath of many fans and large sections of the Spanish media for leaving Sergio Ramos out of his squad and picking no players from Real Madrid. The coach turned more heads by only picking a 24-man squad instead of 26 and for encouraging French-born defender Aymeric Laporte to switch nationalities and lead the team’s defence instead of Ramos.

More incredulity followed when he kept Sergio Busquets in the squad after the midfielder tested positive for COVID-19, showing a sense of patience he did not afford Ramos, who had missed much of the last season through injury.

Radio Marca described Luis Enrique as “pigheaded”, adding Spain were “not cut out to win this Euros and we all know it”.

Coaches’ corner

Luis Enrique (Spain)

“We are leaders in ball possession [in the tournament] but they can also make use of it and enjoy the ball, that’ll be the first battle we need to conquer. They can adapt to not having the ball, they’ve done that in the tournament in certain stages but they’re more comfortable with the ball and stronger with it.

“We’re not an experienced team but it doesn’t mean we don’t have experience of the game. Many of our players have played at a very high level and are used to these games. I just hope we’re up to the challenge.”

Roberto Mancini (Italy)

“We know it won’t be that easy. We know that we need to produce a big performance because Spain are a top side. We’re in the semi-finals of the European Championship. And so it’s it’s very unlikely to find easy opposition.

“If Italy and Spain have made it thus far, it means that we’ve done very well. If we’re into the semi-final, it means that we deserve to be at this stage of the competition. So I think it’s 50-50 with regards to who has the tag of favourites.”

What’s next for the winners?

The Euro 2020 final on July 11 at Wembley Stadium against either England or Denmark.

Super Animal Royale (Game Preview) is Now Available for Xbox One

The park is officially open! Super Animal Royale (Game Preview) invites you to pick an animal, grab an umbrella, hop off the back of a giant eagle, and sail down into the abandoned Super Animal World safari park for a fast-paced, frenetic dose of 64-player combat.

The Xbox One version features cross play matchmaking and cross-save with all other versions, so whether you’re new to the island or a Super Animal Royale veteran, you can bring your animals with you wherever you play.

If you’re an Xbox Game Pass member, you’ll start your journey with the Founder’s Edition DLC for free. The pack is only available to early supporters during the game’s Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access and includes three exclusive Super Animal Royale breeds and 10 exclusive cosmetic items.

Super Animal Royale (Game Preview)

Today also marks the arrival of the Beach Party Animal Pass, for those looking to equip their squad of Super Ducks with life jackets. Coinciding with a massive expansion of the island’s shoreline, season 0.5’s accessories will help you explore the new beaches in style.

Charmed and Dangerous

Super Animal Royale’s top-down 2D shooting, line of sight fog of war system, and colorful world set it apart from other games in the battle royale genre. Streamlined controls make it easy to learn and six-minuteish matches make it less punishing. Still, the mechanics have surprising depth, and reaching the top of the food chain is no easy task.

To survive, you’ll need to explore the park’s deserted attractions, frozen tundras, and blistering deserts to find weapons like submachine guns, bow & sparrows, and banana peels. To cover ground more quickly, you can also hop in a hamster ball or ride tandem with your duos partner on the back of a giant emu.

Super Animal Royale (Game Preview)

A Fork in the Mode

Beyond the core battle royale mode, the team is also experimenting with new limited-time game modes that support squads of up to four players. In S.A.W. vs Rebellion (32v32) you’re assigned to fight for either Super Animal World (S.A.W.) or Super Animal Super Resistance (S.A.S.R.) forces and win by either eliminating the entire opposing team or capturing and defending more flags than your enemy. Captured flags also provide loot and a healing buff, so you’ll want to be strategic in fighting to hold them.

In the second limited-time mode, Mystery Mode, the typical battle royale ruleset gets mixed up between seven different variants. Modifiers include Wild West (cowboy hats, magnums, and hunting rifles), Super Slow Bullets (50% speed for your best dodging moves), Bananarama (bananas as bullets, banana rain, and extra banana spawns) and One Hit Kill.

All the Super World’s a Stage

So, what happened to Super Animal World? How did a family-friendly animal theme park become the stage for the world’s most adorable fight to the death? Clues to the park’s history are strewn across the map, with secrets to find, NPCs to talk to, and easter eggs to unlock in between gunfights.

PS5 UK Stock preview: Mark these dates and times in the diary for PlayStation 5 restocks

This year’s biggest PS5 restock is about to take place, as UK retailers prepare for huge stock drops.

Based on previous restocks from earlier in the year, the bigger PlayStation 5 stock drops (at GAME, Argos and Amazon) are likely to happen on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (May 11-14).

There’s also chance we’ll get smaller drops from the likes of John Lewis, ShopTo, AO and BT on Monday (May 10) and Friday (May 14).

As you can see from the tweet below, Argos tends to drop stock in the early hours, usually between 1am and 4am BST.

John Lewis restocks typically take place between 4am BST and 8am BST, followed by Amazon between 8am and 9am BST.

GAME, on the other hand, typically restocks the PlayStation 5 between 9am and 11am BST, although some drops happen in the afternoon.

It’s worth pointing out that while these are the traditional times the console goes on sale, there’s a chance things could change.

Likewise, it’s possible retailers could try multiple PlayStation 5 stock drops, especially if orders are cancelled or websites crash.

One of the more concrete reports involves Argos, which will reportedly begin shipping consoles to customers on Wednesday, May 12.

According to the latest PS5 UK Stock tweet, this makes it extremely likely that the console will be back in stock overnight, probably from 1am BST onwards.

“ARGOS DELIVERY DATE CONFIRMED,” reads the tweet. Argos expected to deliver PS5s from Wednesday. Suggests Tuesday or Wednesday AM drop. They usually drop at approx 1:30am.

“We have provided PROOF of app glitches, distribution restock, store restock and now delivery date.”

Despite the longer wait for stock to become available in stores, the good news is that the stock drops should be rather large.

This is because the delayed April stock should be available at the same time as the May drop.

To give yourself the best possible chance of securing a console, it’s worth bookmarking some of the more popular stock checker accounts.

This includes Digital Foundry DealsStock InformerPS5 UK Stock – Instant Updates, PS5 UK Stock and Express Gaming – the latter of which will have live updates throughout the week.

Some of the accounts mentioned above have Discord groups for PS5 customers, while some have live streams and alerts on sites like YouTube.

Customers are generally encouraged to have multiple devices open when trying to purchase a PlayStation 5, and to sign in to retail accounts when available.

Good luck!

Second Extinction (Game Preview): What to Know Before Taking Earth Back from Mutated Dinosaurs

Author: Anaïs Palm, Community Manager, Second Extinction, Systemic Reaction
This post originally appeared on Xbox Wire

Summary

  • Xbox players can join the fight today in Second Extinction (Game Preview) and follow along with the community using #ReclaimEarth on Twitter.
  • The game is releasing today via the Xbox Game Preview program and with Xbox Game Pass for Console and PC.
  • Before we throw you to the dinosaurs, there’s a few things that are good to know…

It’s finally time for players to join the fight and reclaim Earth from the mutated dinosaurs who currently rule in Second Extinction (Game Preview).

Having the game available today via the Game Preview program with Xbox Game Pass on Day One is beyond thrilling and will allow us to shape the game together with you as we move towards a full release. But before we throw you to the dinosaurs, here’s a few things that could be good to know.

How did we end up here?

The dinosaurs we all thought to be extinct have been lying nestled in the Earth’s crust for millions of years, resting and waiting for the perfect circumstances to arise. And when they did, they were fast and ruthless. Within hours, everything had changed. In the face of total annihilation, the directors of the Emergency Response Agency (ERA) organized planetary evacuations.

Now, years later, the human resistance has regrouped and is finally ready to fight back. Squads of survivors with relevant experience will be dropping back to Earth from orbiting space stations to gather essential resources, weapons, and information about the dinosaurs. And this is where you, our Extinction Elites, come in.

It’s worth mentioning is that Second Extinction is not a lore-focused game, but you will get clues and winks in the seasonal content on what has gone down and how the dinosaurs ended up becoming the mutated beasts they are. So, if that is something you fancy, keep an eye out.

Second Extinction (Game Preview)

Squad up!

Why 3-player co-op, you might wonder? Early in development, the team played around with different setups and ideas. What worked best was a 3-player squad, and so Second Extinction was designed with that in mind. That doesn’t mean you can’t drop down to Earth with only one friend joining or going in solo but do so at your own risk. It’s quite the challenge that deserves bragging rights if you survive, especially in the higher difficulty settings.

If I can’t talk you into bringing some backup when going planet-side, I recommend starting with Expedition Mode, where you can roam the map freely and can call in a dropship to get you when you’re ready to go back to safety.

Who’s your pick?

We currently have five heroes who fit into three classes. We have our Troopers, the agile DPS class where we have the dashing Ortega and stealth sniper Jürgen. Next up, we have the Enforcers, our brutes, or tanks with the big and heavy guns only an exo-suit carrying hero can handle. Here you find Rosy and our newest addition to the lineup Jack. Finally, we have the Operators, the gadgety-class where we find our explosion and laser loving Amir.

Besides their different strengths, the classes also determine what guns that character gets to play with. For example, the Enforcers have the Rocket Launcher, and the Operators have the Grenade Launcher. Whoever you’re leaning towards, I recommend trying them all out to see what works best for you and your playstyle.

Second Extinction (Game Preview)

How does progression work?

Remember the Rocket Launcher? It unlocks at level 15. The more you play and gather research and materials, the higher level you will reach, and on the journey to the current max level of 25, you’ll unlock some rocking gear and weapons.

You can also use the research and materials you gather to upgrade and unlock weapon perks. Make sure you don’t avoid killing any dinosaurs you find challenging. They drop different materials, and the ones you need for the cool perks are, of course, on the rarer side, so be versatile in what types you kill. Or just kill all of them.

Below you can see the Scout Rifle skill tree. There are a set number of tokens that can be used and placed strategically so make sure to try different combinations and experiment to find what perks work best for you.

Second Extinction (Game Preview)

Where to speak your mind

As the community manager, I want to hear as many individual voices as possible to understand what the community thinks. To reduce the risk of your feedback getting lost and keeping it as efficient as possible, you’re invited to gather on our Discord server.

Since our Early Access release on Steam last October, our Discord has been the community’s base of operations. It is the place to talk to other players, ask questions, give feedback, and get in touch with the development team. We also have weekly challenges and a poll every Monday to get the community’s opinion on game-focused questions. It’d be greatly appreciated if you want to be part of the community to join our Discord and make your voice heard. If you’re interested in influencing what the future holds, this is the best way to make sure we hear you loud and clear.

See you on the battlegrounds and on our social channels!

‘The Challenge: All Stars’ Preview: Alton Struggles To Catch His Breath & Keep Up During Challenge

Author: Alyssa Norwin
This post originally appeared on Hollywood Life

On this week’s episode of ‘The Challenge: All Stars,’ Alton uncharacteristically loses his stamina while competing in an endurance mission.

Alton Williams is one of the biggest physical threats on The Challenge: All Stars, but even he struggles in the daily challenge this week. HollywoodLife has an EXCLUSIVE sneak peek of the show’s April 29 episode, which features the contestants split up into teams for an endurance challenge. The team members have to work together to carry a heavy log on a grueling path, which appears to be uphill.

“We’re all tired,” Katie Cooley says in the preview. “I’m breathing like a farm animal, but we just don’t want to give up.” However, it was Alton who appears to be struggling the most. “Rest. Break! Break now!” he can be heard telling his teammates. At one point, he nearly falls to the ground, and tries to stabilize himself by leaning on teammate Beth Stolarczyk. “Alton cannot catch his breath and I don’t understand why Alton is starting to lean on ME,” Beth says. “Get off me, Alton!”

alton williams

As the challenge goes on, Alton continues to ask his team to rest. At one point, he even drops to the ground as the others grow frustrated. “Something’s going on,” Syrus Yarbrough says. “There’s no way this physical specimen is on his freakin’ knees and here I am, at 50 years old, doing it. I’m concerned for him a little bit, but I’m more concerned with keeping myself in the game.”

When the clip ends, Alton, who is 41 years old, is still struggling, and it’s unclear whether or not the team will be able to complete the mission. The Challenge: All Stars has definitely proven to be no joke so far, with the veteran players competing in difficult challenges each week that have put them to the test. New episodes of the show air on Thursdays on Paramount+, and you can stream the whole season so far on the app!

“I came to Baltimore to try to get some type of… just a little bit of peace and try to reground myself, and now I found myself in the middle of what Charlie has going on in her drama,” Tammy says in her confessional. “I think this is the hardest part about being a parent because you want to keep your children with you every step of the way and you want to be there for them as much as possible, but I’m realizing that there’s going to come a time where even I might have to let her figure it out. Because if I don’t, I’m going to go crazy.”

‘Teen Mom’ Reunion Preview: Maci Bookout & Husband Taylor Face Off With Ryan Edwards’ Parents

The first look at the reunion showdown between Maci Bookout and her exes’ parents is here. The preview arrives after the older couple, along with their son Ryan Edwards, were reportedly ‘let go’ from ‘Teen Mom OG.’

“You have something to say, come out here and say it,” Maci Bookout‘s husband, Taylor McKinley, says in the extremely tense preview for the upcoming Teen Mom OG reunion. Although the clip didn’t show who Taylor was talking to, fans know that the couple was sitting down with the grandparents of Maci’s 12-year-old son Bentley, and the parents of her ex Ryan EdwardsJen and Larry. Leading up to the reunion, there had been ongoing tensions between the families; Ryan’s family was frustrated that they were spending less time with Bentley, while Maci has insisted that they’ve been allowed to see her son.

These tensions appear to come to a head at the reunion. However, it’s not Maci who’s doing the fighting in the preview clip. “You’re a sorry son of a b-tch,” her husband, Taylor, snaps later in the preview clip. Again, it’s unclear who he’s saying this to, but the preview cuts to Ryan’s mom Jen exclaiming, “Excuse me?” The rest of the preview showed the other cast members having just as dramatic talks — you can watch the full teaser above.

While fans will have to wait for the rest of this feud to play out when part one of the Teen Mom OG reunion airs on April 20, it was reported that Maci and Taylor got “so angry” that they “eventually stormed off set” after coming “to blows with Ryan’s parents,” per The Ashley.

After the reunion taped, Ryan’s father Larry revealed that the family had been fired from Teen Mom OG. “We, the family have been let go from the show by the network. It’s unbelievable,” he told The Sun. More details were provided by a report from The Ashley, which claimed that Maci had gotten her ex’s family fired. “The Edwards were informed that Maci’s reps wanted to go a different direction and showcase all of her abilities. Maci went to production and explained she wanted her story to cover all the parts of her life and no longer focus on Ryan and his family,” a source told the outlet towards the end of March.

Right off the bat, this season of Teen Mom OG kicked off with drama between Maci and her ex’s family. At the time, Maci’s temporary order of protection against Ryan had ended, but he was hesitant to reach out again. “She did an order of protection with about 30 lies last time, so I just don’t feel the need to speak to her and bring some of that back into my life,” Ryan said in the season premiere that aired in Jan. 2021.
