England boss Gareth Southgate provides update on Trent Alexander-Arnold injury

“We’re going to have a little look,” he told ITV.

“It’s obviously not good to see him having to come off in the way he did, but we’ll have to assess him over the next 24 hours.

“I think (it’s his) thigh, but the medical team are still assessing it.

“We’ll just have to see, it’s not a good sign to see him walk off in the way that he did, so we’ll know more in the next 24 or 48 hours.

“We don’t know the full extent, so the last thing you want is to see him come off in the way that he did.”

Pep Guardiola provides clear hint Man City will try to sign £150m Tottenham ace Harry Kane

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has admitted that he would love to sign a world-class attacker this summer, fuelling speculation that the newly-crowned Premier League champions could go all out to land Tottenham‘s wantaway striker Harry Kane. The 27-year-old is believed to be angling for a move after informing the north London club of his desire to seek a new challenge ahead of next season.
City are said to be keeping a close eye on the England skipper’s situation, with Guardiola in need of a new striker to replace Sergio Aguero, who has reportedly agreed to join Barcelona on a free transfer.

However, they are likely to face stiff competition from Manchester United and Chelsea to secure Kane’s signature.

Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland is also understood to be on Guardiola’s summer wish list, but the 20-year-old could be out of the Spaniard’s reach with the Bundesliga outfit determined to retain his services.

This has led to Kane being earmarked as City’s priority target, with Tottenham reportedly slapping a monumental £150million price tag on their prized asset.

It remains to be seen whether Daniel Levy will decide to cash in, with the forward remaining under contract until the summer of 2024, but Guardiola has seemingly dropped a huge hint that City are preparing to throw everything at Spurs in order to push through a move.

The 50-year-old revealed on Saturday that he would be overjoyed with the addition of a prolific striker, suggesting that in an ideal world, the club would land a player capable of chalking up a half-century of goals over the course of a season.

“I’d love to have a striker who got 50 goals a season, honestly,” said Guardiola. “At the same time, I don’t like to put all the pressure on one player.

“In Barcelona, Lionel Messi, every season since he was born, scored 50 a season. Thierry Henry scored a lot in the first season and Samuel Eto’o scored a lot – what a striker.”

City have played without an out-and-out striker in attack for much of the current season, with a number of players assuming the role since the beginning of the campaign.

One of the reasons behind the club’s impressive Premier League title win has been Guardiola’s ability to ensure that his side’s goal burden has been shared across the pitch.

Ilkay Gundogan is City’s top scorer after finding the net on 17 occasions in all competitions, while Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez have chipped in with 14 goals each.

Guardiola continued, stressing that while he is hopeful of landing a new talisman, the new recruit will not be able to lead the club’s attacking charge on his own.

“When you are to win titles, especially the Premier League, with just one guy you won’t win it,” he added.

“You need more – and the statistics speak for themselves. You need three guys with more than 10, scoring 12 or 15, to be competitive.

“But when you have a guy who can get 25 to 30 it helps a lot, honestly. We will try for the way we play for everyone to be involved.

“Raheem, Riyad and especially Gundogan this season, Phil Foden with his qualities, Sergio and Gabriel Jesus. As many players with this quality the better it will be.”

City will end their Premier League campaign on 86 points if they manage to see off the challenge of Everton on Sunday afternoon, with Aguero likely to make his final appearance for the club in front of a 10,000-strong crowd at the Etihad Stadium.

UK holidays: Magnolia Cottage provides a home away from home in the idyllic Cotswolds

The second bedroom, to the rear of the house, offers the same spaciousness and built-in cupboard.

However, this one is also ideal for the most glamorous of residents, thanks to a perfectly placed vanity table and large mirror.

The back bedroom also overlooks the “secret” garden, from which the perfume of bluebells and magnolia can drift in through the open window on particularly toasty days.

This is also the only room serviced by its own en-suite bathroom, complete with a built-in shower.

Our favourite of the three bedrooms, however, was tucked away behind a small wooden door.

A short flight of stairs leads up into the attic of the house, which has been converted into a delightful double bedroom complete with low wooden beams and a small window that looks out over the scenic views of the surrounding town.

Though the loft bedroom does not have built-in storage, there is plenty of room, as well as a few small cupboards and shelving spaces, and clothes rail for items that need hanging.

Levy's claim in All or Nothing provides telling insight on Mourinho treatment

Tottenham chief Daniel Levy took the decision to sack Jose Mourinho this week following the club’s poor form.

The north London outfit are having an eventful week as they also deal with the fallout of the failed European Super League plans.

On the pitch, their recent results have them in danger of missing out on the Champions League for the second successive season.

Levy, therefore, took the decision to axe the Special One after just 17 months in charge.

The Tottenham chairman was a regular in the club’s All or Nothing documentary which aired on Amazon Prime last year.

He gave a personal assessment of himself with his choice of words appearing very appropriate.

He said: “I think the perception of me is that I’m hard-nosed, stubborn, don’t care, not ambitious. I think a lot of that isn’t fair.

“I certainly think I’m incredibly ambitious to improve the team, people just don’t understand how hard it is to get to that place.

“I’ve run lots of businesses – running a football club is the hardest business I’ve ever run.”

Levy will argue that his decision to sack Mourinho is proof of his ambitions – anything less than the Champions League is not good enough.

He said in a statement that “I have enjoyed working with him and regret that things have not worked out as we both had envisaged”.

Levy’s perception of being stubborn and hard-nosed perhaps came full circle with his decision to sack Mourinho, despite him guiding Tottenham to the Carabao Cup Final, which will be played on Sunday.

The Special One left Tottenham with a win percentage of just over 51 – his lowest in his last seven managerial jobs.

Things were looking bright before Christmas with the north Londoners sitting top of the league following an impressive start.

The players seemed to have bought into his style of football, but things quickly unravelled as Tottenham won three out of 13.

Levy’s perceived lack of ambition also stems from the club’s activity in the transfer market

His decision to involve the club in the European Super League was no doubt motivated by money with it well documented that their £1bn stadium is yet to have a naming sponsor.

All six English sides pulled out amid huge fan protests, but tellingly Levy is yet to apologise.

Mariah Carey on voice condition which provides her unique five-octave vocal range

Mariah has been working in the music industry for more than 30 years. With incredible platinum-selling hits including All I Want For Christmas Is You and Hero, she has become a legendary artist. The self-confessed “diva” – who turns 52-years-old today – has previously opened up on how her voice is so unique, revealing that an affliction on her vocal cords are the reason.
Speaking in an interview in 2017, Mariah first spoke about how she takes care of her five-octave range voice.

She said: “It is all about timing, vocal rest, sleep. It’s a different kind of thing.”

The star then explained: “My cords actually have nodules on them and I have for my whole life.”

According to online healthcare site Cleveland Clinic, vocal cord nodules are “sometimes called singer’s nodules or nodes and result from repetitive overuse or misuse of the voice. These callous-like growths develop in the midpoint of the vocal folds.

“That’s why my speaking voice is actually more low. But the top [range] stuff is a whole different thing.

Speaking on Questlove Supreme podcast, she said: “Taking off work has really helped my voice. I think in a lot of ways, just being able to [be], like, stress-free.

“And everyone’s like: ‘Oh, you’ve got to get back in a studio… You gotta, like, get back to singing.’ And I’m like: ‘I know!’ When I’m under pressure… every part of my voice is screwed up.

“Honestly, for me this whole year with COVID and everything, not having to sing for my supper and travel around and not get the right amount of sleep or just be put on this thing where there’s a certain amount of stress, for me, that takes away a lot of stuff.”

Mariah’s 16th album has not been announced just yet, but her previous record, Caution, was released in 2018 and reached number five in the charts after selling 43,000 copies.

The star didn’t receive any accolades for the record, but previously won five Grammy Awards throughout her career.

Her most notable awards came in 2006 when she won the Best Contemporary R&B Album Grammy Award for her tenth album The Emancipation of Mimi.

The same album also received Best R&B Song and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for We Belong Together.

Before that, Mariah won Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female and Best New Artist in 1991 for her debut single Vision of Love, from her debut self-titled album.

Since her first release, the star has sold more than 200 million records worldwide across 15 albums and eight compilation albums.

During her time in the industry Mariah has received praise from some legendary musicians, including The Beatles’ Paul McCartney.

The former Fab Four member once called Mariah’s version of Without You “the killer song of all time”.
