Public Health England has said fans “can cause excess dehydration” and so should not be pointed directly at your body.

Running the fan pointed at you all night could see you wake up with a dry throat, stuffy nose and even dry out your skin.

Fans can also pick up dust and mites and blow these towards you, contributing to irritated nose and eyes when you wake.

Instead, there are a couple of tricks you can use to cool down a room without needing the fan to run for eight hours.

Call of Duty Cold War update time revealed with Warzone Season 4 patch notes

Activision has confirmed its Call of Duty Cold War update time plans for this week and how they will fit in with the larger Warzone Season 4 launch.

The good news is that gamers will be able to download and install the Cold War patch on PS4, Xbox One and PC early.

So fans should know that there will be two dates to track this week to have a full idea regarding the Cold War and Warzone Season 4 launch.

For those tracking this week’s release, the upcoming Cold War update will be between 14GB and 21GB.

Meanwhile, the Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 update will be available to download if you have between 8GB and 12GB, depending on your platform of choice.

Commenting on this week’s big Season 4 release, a message from Activision explains: “Incoming Free Content: the latest round-based Zombies experience, as well as a classic Multiplayer map and new modes, make landfall in Black Ops Cold War, while Warzone receives a brand-new objective mode with Payload and other meta-changing updates.

“As satellites are downed around the world due to Perseus’ actions, another war is just beginning in the Zombies Dark Aether story.

“Following her release from Omega Group’s clutches in “Firebase Z,” Samantha Maxis aided Requiem in investigating the world’s largest Outbreak Zone to date across the Ural Mountains.

“After thwarting Omega’s plans for “Operatsiya Inversiya,” Requiem’s elite strike team was set to extract the group’s defecting scientists in Operation Excision… until a familiar foe uncovered their plan and installed a mole among them.”

According to publisher Activision, this week’s Call of Duty Cold War update time has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 14 at 5am BST.

And for gamers in North America, the same Black Ops patch will be available to download on 9pm PDT on July 13.

For this update, there will be a download size of approximately 11.4-21.3 GB for those who own the full version of Black Ops Cold War, and 8.9-10.4 GB for those who own the free-to-play Warzone and are current on the latest updates on either or both games.

A message from Activision adds: “PC users will also need 12.4-12.9 GB of additional space on their hard drive for the patch copying process; this is only temporary space that is reclaimed upon completion of the patch installation and is not an additional download.

“Remember, the Warzone download is not necessary if you are only playing Black Ops Cold War, and vice versa. Furthermore, for a smaller overall file size, players can choose to uninstall/remove other data packs if they are no longer needed.”

For those interested in what’s coming next, here’s a breakdown of what is being planned:

Set after the events of “Operation Excision” in Outbreak, “Mauer Der Toten” is Treyarch’s next classic round-based Zombies experience where Requiem agents, currently working for Omega Group’s Colonel Kravchenko in a bid for their freedom, will explore war-torn Berlin after a zombie invasion has overtaken the city.

Agents will navigate through the dark streets, lit only by spotlights, street lamps, and long-abandoned vehicles, to reach various key landmarks and structures, including a U-Bahn where flaming trains carry undead passengers to parts unknown.

They won’t be alone, however, if they can find a way to activate a new robotic companion, Klaus, who will help them defeat the undead.

An objective mode whose roots stem from the very first Call of Duty Multiplayer experience, Capture the Flag (CTF) is a competitive mode where squads must take the enemy’s flag and return it to their home base, while also defending theirs from the enemy team.

A flag will not be captured unless a team’s own flag is safe in their base, so squads must have both a good offense and defense to win the match. Also, a short respawn timer prevents any one side from throwing themselves recklessly towards the enemy base, making each life count in this fast-paced tactical brawl for supremacy.

Later in the season, Treyarch is expanding the paintball experience out of Rush and into the wider world of Black Ops Cold War Multiplayer in the new Paintball Moshpit. This new way to play MP will introduce paintball visual effects and impact sounds to the action across a selection of maps and modes. Get ready to get messy.

Next State of Play date revealed? Horizon Forbidden West, God of War, PSVR2 update inbound

Gamescom 2021 is launching on August 25, and an air date before then was the only window PS5 fans previously had for the next big PlayStation stream.

But now Serrano has given an update, pinpointing the exact date and time the next State of Play could take place in a new Twitter post online.

And Serrano has claimed the upcoming August 2021 State of Play will kick off on Thursday August 12 at 10pm BST.

Serrano tweeted: “PlayStation Event. August 12, 2021. 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 11pm CEST.

“Updates on the next God of War, Horizon Forbidden West, the next generation of PlayStation VR and more”.

While Sony hasn’t confirmed there will be a State of Play this summer, the PS5 makers did appear to hint they would be dropping some major announcements soon.

PS5 Stock news: Earliest Amazon UK and Very PlayStation 5 restock dates revealed

News regarding the new PS5 stock drops being planned for July has been shared this week by tracker accounts.

And from what has been shared so far, it looks like Amazon UK could be the next retailer to offer thousands of more consoles to buy.

As always, these reports must be taken with a big pinch of salt until we learn more from official sources.

With Amazon UK expected to offer a big restock this week, it could also be joined by some others.

Part of the list currently being circulated is ASDA and John Lewis, as well as Smyths Toys and Very.

There are only a series of dates right now for when these PlayStation drops might happen, but this could be whittled down and become much clearer as we get closer to the retail events.

And based on what has been shared so far, the next PS5 stock drop could happen as early as Tuesday, July 13.

This could be joined by John Lewis on July 13, with both PlayStation 5 stock drops between 8am and 11am BST.

As noted above, this is a predicted release date, meaning that it could also drop between July 13 and July 21.

Meanwhile, ASDA and Very PS5 restock could begin on July 14, with the final possible date being July 21.

These are the predicted dates shared by the PS5 Instant Twitter account regarding what could happen next:

  • Amazon UK – July 13-21 (8-10am)
  • ASDA 14-21 (8-11am)
  • John Lewis 13-22nd 7-9am
  • Smyths Toys – July 14-17th
  • Very 14-22nd (9-11am)

One thing to note is that these dates are being shared in regards to future PS5 stock drops online.

And there’s a chance that other leading retailers will offer new in-store bundles before the end of the week.

It follows a surprise PlayStation 5 stock drop this weekend, which started at ShopTo and Scan.

The PlayStation 5 has also been in stock at Argos. The consoles were available on a regional basis, both on browsers and via the Argos app.

Because of the nature of the drop, and the fact that it’s a collection only, customers are encouraged to contact their local store to see if any additional consoles are available.

Knowing when a PS5 restock is happening can be vital but it’s also worth knowing how each retailer handles its shipments.

And here are a few examples of how best to try and buy a PlayStation 5 console from leading UK retailers:

AMAZON UK: Amazon UK runs better under strain but still comes with a few kinks worth mentioning. Having an account set up with your card details is a good start, and gamers should also try adding a console to their wishlist before checking out. More stock is expected during July.

ARGOS: The Argos website is notorious for crashing and being unable to complete purchases when site traffic is high. Stock trackers suggest using the mobile Argos app and keeping an eye on local store listings.

GAME: GAME is a UK retailer that offers the most regular stock updates for PS5 consoles. However, console hunters have been warned to use Guest Checkout, as this option is less likely to crash when completing a purchase. The next PS5 stock update is expected to start in early July.

Nintendo Switch PRO is official: OLED model release date revealed and pre-order NEWS

The new and improved Nintendo Switch Pro has been officially announced by Nintendo.

The surprise announcement comes after months of rumours and speculation about powerful new Switch hardware.

The Nintendo Switch OLED Model has been given an October 8 release date, which means it will launch alongside Metroid Dread.

As the name suggests, the headline new feature is the OLED display, which will offer a more vibrant experience.

While the console itself will be similar in size to the existing model, the screen will measure in at 7-inches.

According to Nintendo, it will feature more vibrant colours and a higher contrast compared to the current Switch and Switch Lite.

Other improvements include a wider adjustable stand for tabletop mode, as well as a LAN port for improved online performance.

With 64BG of internal storage, the Nintendo Switch OLED Model can hold more games – although you’ll probably still need an SD card if you download lots of games.

Finally, Nintendo has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch OLED Model will feature improved audio thanks to the beefier speakers.

Elsewhere, the stylish new console will launch with a brand new colour scheme, as well as the classic Neon Red and Neon Blue set-up.

Fans will be able to purchase a white model, complete with white Joy-Con controllers, a black main unit and a white dock.

At the time of writing, pre-orders are yet to go live, and Nintendo hasn’t announced the price of the console.

Express Online has contacted the company for confirmation about the price and pre-order dates.

Judging by the recent launches of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, it’s worth getting in early if you want to secure a console at launch.

Unlike the Switch Lite, the OLED Model will support both handheld and docked gameplay, meaning it can be played at home on the TV, and on the go.

“Nintendo Switch (OLED model) will let users experience enhancements in all three play modes,” Nintendo explains.

“TV mode: Place the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) console into the dock to play Nintendo Switch games on the TV. By using the built-in wired LAN port, users can enjoy another way to connect online in TV mode.

“Tabletop mode: Flip the stand on the back of the console and use the console’s screen to play multiplayer games using the two included Joy-Con controllers right out of the box. The wide adjustable stand makes for a solid and sturdy foundation. It also allows players to freely tilt the console with more range on the viewing angle, so it’s easier to see the screen.

“Handheld mode: Users can bring the console wherever they go in handheld mode and play local* or online** multiplayer with friends. The 7-inch OLED screen provides vivid colour and high contrast.”
