Tottenham next manager EXCLUSIVE: Ryan Mason put on standby as farcical search continues

Ryan Mason has been put on standby by managerless Tottenham to take charge of pre-season training. Former Spurs midfielder Mason was made interim head coach until the end of the season in April after Jose Mourinho was sacked, becoming the youngest manager of a Premier League club so far, at the age of 29.

But since then Spurs have been repeatedly foiled in their efforts to appoint a permanent successor to Mourinho.

Their players who were not involved in international duty are due to arrive back on July 5 for the start of pre-season training, in just ten days’ time.

The club have now put Mason and his team – with Chris Powell and Nigel Gibbs as interim assistants, Michel Form as interim goalkeeping coach, and Ledley King as first team assistant – on standby to take charge of preparations for pre-season, in case a new man is not appointed in time.

Tottenham’s latest managerial setback saw them spurned by Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui on Wednesday, despite making a “dizzying” offer.

In a search for a new manager that has become farcical, the club have failed to lure former manager Mauricio Pochettini back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

They also had fruitless talks with former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte, former Roma chief Paulo Fonseca, ex-Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso and Ajax coach Erik ten Hag, who instead signed a new deal in Amsterdam.

Brighton manager Graham Potter and Rangers coach Steven Gerrard have also been linked with the job.

Former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo and Potter are seen as the most viable candidates for the vacant role at present.

Mason, who had to retire from football in 2018 after fracturing his skull while playing for Hull, stepped up from his role as Head of Player Development at Tottenham in April to take over the first team.

In Mason’s spell in charge, Spurs played seven matches, winning four and losing three.

Speaking about his future back in May, Mason said: “My personal ambitions I have to put aside at this moment. I don’t really want to think about what I want or need.

“I have loved representing this football club, to be given this opportunity at this age has been amazing. Would I have said no to this football club? No.

Ryan Lochte fails to advance in first event at US trials, drops out of another

Lochte is hoping to make it to one more Olympics to erase the stigma of an incident at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, where he lied about being robbed at gunpoint.

OMAHA, Neb. — Olympic champion Ryan Lochte failed to advance from the preliminaries of the 200-meter freestyle on Monday, his first event of the U.S. Olympic swimming trials.

The 36-year-old Lochte, attempting to make his fifth Olympic team, posted a time of 1 minute, 49.23 seconds — only good enough for 25th place overall.

The top 16 advanced to the evening semifinals, led by Kieran Smith at 1:46.54. Caeleb Dressel was second in 1:46.63.

Smith won the 400 free on Sunday to earn his first trip to the Olympics.

Lochte was also entered Monday in the 100 backstroke, but he scratched that event. Defending Olympic champion Ryan Murphy easily advanced from the preliminaries, as did 36-year-old Matt Grevers, the 2012 gold medalist.

Even though Lochte initially entered six events at the trials, it appears the 200 individual medley is the only race in which he has any realistic shot of earning a trip to Tokyo. He scratched the 400 IM on Sunday.

Lochte has won 12 Olympic medals, including six golds. Now married with two children, he hopes to make it to one more Olympics to erase the stigma of an incident at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, where he lied about being robbed at gunpoint.

Ryan Reynolds Carries Daughter, 4, On His Shoulders During Cute Family Stroll With Blake Lively

Ryan Reynolds is the sweetest girl dad. The actor carried his middle daughter Inez on his shoulders as he and wife Blake Lively took their dog for a walk in NYC.

Even all masked up, Ryan Reynolds, wife Blake Lively and their adorable daughter Inez were still easily recognizable while strolling through New York City on Tuesday Apr. 27. The Deadpool star‘s handsome brown eyes were visible above his face covering, and he looked so cute giving a shoulder ride to the couple’s four-year-old middle child. Inez has her 33-year-old mom’s blonde, curly locks, and was seen in a colorful outfit, while her parents took their Goldendoodle out for a neighborhood walk.

Inez wore a light pink hooded jacket with a dark pink fuzzy lining. She could be seen wearing a flowy turquoise netted skirt with a pair of dark blue leggings with white polka dots on them. Her blue trainers with hot pink laces went perfectly with the stylishly mismatched outfit. With fashion icon Blake as a mom, Inez has definitely inherited a love of interesting clothes and patterns.

Ryan looked like a tall drink of water, as the 6’2” hunk wore an olive green fitted jacket that buttoned up the front. It was perfect for the spring weather, and he matched it with fitted blue track pants. He wore a black baseball cap for their outing and comfy blue trainers on his feet, so that he could carry Inez for blocks on their nice long walk.

Blake was the most bundled up, as The Rhythm Section star wore a full length camel colored coat, with a fun striped scarf untied down the front in blue, peach and white colors. The stunning actress’ heavily lined blue eyes peeked out from above her mask, as she donned a brown baseball cap that didn’t do much to cover her flowing blonde tresses. Blake was on doggy duty, holding on to her pet’s leash while carrying her phone in her left hand.

The couple is incredibly private what it comes to their children. It was months before Inez’s name was first reported following her Sept. 2016 birth. She made her big debut to the world at the age of three months, when her daddy Ryan received a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in Dec. 2016. But that was her one and only official public appearance, where she was joined by big sister James Reynolds, now six. The event took place prior the the couple welcoming third daughter Betty in Oct. 2019.

Blake’s good pal Taylor Swift managed to officially confirm the names of all three of the Lively-Reynolds children on her gorgeous Folklore album, which dropped in July 2020. Even though Betty was already 10 months old, her name had remained a mystery until Taylor’s Grammy winning LP featured the song titled “Betty” on it. Within the tune, she also had characters named “James” and “Inez,” which completed the trifecta of Blake and Ryan’s daughters’ names.

“Everyone makes mistakes, everybody really misses up sometimes. This is a song that I wrote from the perspective of a 17 year old boy. I named all the characters in this story after my friend’s kids, and I hope you like it!” Taylor, 31, told Country Radio about “Betty” on Aug. 6, 2020. In the total genius that is Taylor’s songwriting talents, “Betty” is told from James’ point of view, the song “Cardigan” is told from Betty’s point of view, and “August” is told from Inez’s point of view.

Wales manager Ryan Giggs has reportedly ‘found love’ with a lingerie model as he prepares to face court accused of assault on his ex-girlfriend and another woman.

The former Manchester United star was spotted out walking with Zara Charles, 33, just days before Greater Manchester Police issued charges against him on three counts following an incident at his home back in November.

Giggs has been charged with assaulting both ex Katie Greville and an unnamed woman, believed to be a friend.

He has also been charged with coercive and controlling behaviour towards Greville over a period spanning almost three years.

A source told The Sun that new girlfriend Zara had been “supporting” Giggs amidst the allegations and that the pair were “very strong together”.

Giggs, 47, is said to have been very open about the situation with his new beau, who is a regular on the Manchester nightclub scene and was seen on a dog walk with him in Hale, Cheshire this past week.

The Sun also claim Giggs has been in close contact with ex-wife and mother of his two children, Stacey Cooke, who he split from five years ago and divorced in 2017.

Stacey is now in a relationship with singer Max George, from boy band The Wanted, but is thought to be offering support to her former husband.

Giggs has insisted he is innocent and plans to clear his name. He is due to appear in Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on April 28, and could face up to five years in prison if found guilty.

The Welsh Football Association (FAW) have since announced that Giggs will not be taking charge of the team at this summer’s European Championships, with Robert Page continuing as interim boss in his place.

Giggs issued a brief statement on Friday and said: “I have full respect for the due process of law and understand the seriousness of the allegations.

“I will plead not guilty in court and look forward to clearing my name.

“I would like to wish Robert Page, the coaching staff, the players and the supporters every success at the Euros this summer.”

Ryan Mason fires Man City cup final warning as Tottenham face nervy Harry Kane injury wait

Tottenham interim manager Ryan Mason has warned Carabao Cup opponents Manchester City that Premier League form is irrelevant in finals, but Spurs face an anxious wait over Harry Kane’s fitness.

Both teams head into Sunday’s Wembley showdown in contrasting form.

Man City have won 18 of their last 20 Premier League matches and are hot favourites to secure a third top-flight title in four years.

Meanwhile, Spurs’ 2-1 victory against Southampton on Wednesday was just their second win in their last six outings.

Jose Mourinho was sensationally sacked on Monday morning with the club now fighting desperately to secure a place in the top four. The north Londoners are two points adrift of Chelsea, who have played a game fewer.

The Portuguese coach was swiftly replaced by 29-year-old Mason on an interim basis until the end of the season.

And the popular former Spurs midfielder has said that recent displays will not count for much at Wembley.

“Listen, the Premier League and the Carabao Cup are completely different competitions,” Mason said.

“In the Premier League, they’re probably going to win and they’re in the latter stages of the Champions League, as well. But form goes out of the window in cup finals.

“We’ve seen that. It’s a game, a one-off game on the day. They’re a great side with great players but let’s not forget, we’re a great side with great players too. They know that, we know that about them.”

Tottenham’s chances of a first trophy since they won the competition in 2008 will suffer a severe blow if top-scorer Kane is missing.

The England captain, who has scored 31 goals this season, limped off with an ankle injury after netting a brace in Mourinho’s final game in charge – last Friday’s 2-2 draw with Everton.

“Harry is a top professional. We’re taking it hour by hour, seeing how he feels. What we are not going to do and what Harry is not going to do is put his body on the line if he does not think it is suitable.

“We are never going to put Harry in that position, absolutely not. We will see how he is tomorrow and we can make a decision from there.

“It is a combined effort. How does the player feel? What do the medics say – what’s the advice? What are the chances of something happening?

“Harry’s a mature man, a mature professional footballer. He’s dealt with certain situations. Ultimately, we’ll speak to him – ‘how do you feel?’ – and go from there.”

Manchester United wing legend Ryan Giggs charged with assaulting two women as Wales announce he will NOT lead team at Euros

Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs – the current manager of the Welsh national team – has been charged with assaulting two women in an incident stemming from November 2020.

Giggs, 47, stands accused of causing actual bodily harm to a woman in her 30s and of the common assault of a woman in her 20s.

In addition, Giggs has been charged with coercive or controlling behavior between December 2017 and November 2020.

“The CPS [Crown Prosecution Service] made the decision to charge Mr Giggs after reviewing a file of evidence from Greater Manchester Police,” a statement said.

Giggs has been bailed to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on April 28.

The former footballer was forced onto gardening leave as Wales manager last November after allegations he had assaulted his girlfriend, Kate Greville.

Giggs was arrested and later bailed following reports of a disturbance at his mansion in Worsley, Greater Manchester, although he has denied the claims.

After the new emerged on Friday that Giggs had been charged, the Welsh FA confirmed that he would not be leading the team at this summer’s European Championships – where they have been drawn in a group with Turkey, Italy and Switzerland.

“The FAW can confirm that Robert Page will assume the role of Cymru Men’s National Team manager for this summer’s EURO 2020 tournament and will be assisted by Albert Stuivenberg,” a statement read.

In a statement of his own, Giggs vowed to clear his name.

“I have full respect for the due process of law and understand the seriousness of the allegations,” he said.

“I will plead not guilty in court and look forward to clearing my name.

“I would like to wish Robert Page, the coaching staff, the players and the supporters every success at the Euros this summer.”

Former Manchester United star Giggs is the Old Trafford club’s all-time record appearance-holder, having played 963 games in a glittering career between 1991 and 2014.

He won a record haul of 13 Premier League titles as well as two Champions League titles.

Giggs was capped 64 times for Wales as a player and took over as national team manager in 2018.

Alongside his success on the pitch, Giggs has frequently made the headlines for his turbulent private life. He divorced from wife Stacey back in 2016 after claims of repeated infidelity, including with his brother Rhodri’s wife, Natasha.

Giggs was also outed as having had an affair with former Big Brother contestant Imogen Thomas.

The former Man Utd star had spent £150,000 on a High Court injunction in a bid to keep the news from leaking out, before an MP used parliamentary privilege to name and shame him.

Giggs was first linked to PR executive Greville in 2015, and the pair went public in 2018. Greville worked at Giggs’ Hotel Football in Manchester, the venture he owns with former teammates Gary and Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt.

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has been charged with assault. The Wales boss has been charged with assaulting two women and controlling or coercive behaviour, the Crown Prosecution Service announced on Friday.

The CPS said: “We have authorised Greater Manchester Police to charge Ryan Giggs with engaging in behaviour which was controlling or coercive and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

“A charge of assault by beating relating to a second woman has also been authorised. Mr Giggs will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 28th April.

“The CPS made the decision to charge Mr Giggs after reviewing a file of evidence from Greater Manchester Police.

“Criminal proceedings are active and nothing should be published that could jeopardise the defendant’s right to a fair trial.”

Both assault charges relate to an incident at Giggs’ home on November 1 last year, and he was arrested in November on suspicion of two counts of assault against his girlfriend and one other person.

Giggs denied the charges against him when he was arrested.

Greater Manchester Police said: “Ryan Giggs (29/11/1973) has been charged with causing actual bodily harm to a woman in her 30s and common assault of a woman in her 20s.

“Both counts relate to an incident on the evening of Sunday 1 November 2020.

“Giggs has also been charged with one count of coercive and controlling behaviour between December 2017 and November 2020.”

The Wales boss has been bailed. And he’s due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 28.

Giggs spent the entirety of his professional career with Man United. He made 963 appearances during that time, more than any other player in the club’s entire history.

Giggs won 13 Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson and two Champions League crowns, in 1999 and 2008 respectively.

Many expected him to get the United job in 2014 after David Moyes’ sacking.

But he was overlooked and became assistant to Louis van Gaal instead.

Giggs spent two years working under the Dutchman and eventually became Wales manager in January 2018, but has not managed his country since being arrested.
