Darragh Ennis sends message to fellow The Chase star The Vixen

The newest member of The Chase family had a message for Jenny Ryan – as she came unstuck against a ‘super team’.

A trio of great players – Eva, Emma and Gary – managed to bag £20,000 in the prize pot, despite saying goodbye to fellow contestant Jack earlier in the show.

They then went on to score 20 points for the final Chase – which ultimately proved too much for The Vixen, who still had 3 to get right when time ran out.

It seems Darragh Ennis was watching – and said she ‘had her work cut out’ for her during The Chase competition, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The newest Chaser, also known as The Menace, tweeted thoughts on tonight’s episode from his Twitter account @bones_giles.

After contestants Eva and Emma managed to take back £7,000 each, The Menace called them ‘clever women.’ He said: “Well, some clever women on #TheChase this afternoon!”

Darragh then followed up his tweet with another comment and message for fellow-Chaser Jenny Ryan, also known as The Vixen.

He added: “£14k for two players is really excellent. If Gary gets back this might be tough for Jen. #TheChase.”

And: “Nice final question for the chef and £20k for three players is a super team. Jen might have her work cut out here! #TheChase.”

The Menace predicted correctly as the team – Gary, Emma and Eva – managed to beat The Vixen.

The team managed to get 20 steps in the final chase and won with three steps remaining.

In the final chase there were five attempts to push back and the team executed three of them.

The three took home the prize of £20,000 between them, making it £6,666 each

Bradley Walsh said: “Well played, brilliant, £20,000 smackers, absolutely sensational.” He added: “Chaser, great match by the way great match.”

Jenny Ryan said: “Really well played team, by setting 20 you gave me just a little bit too much to do when I had a couple of mental arithmetic style questions in there.”

The Chase viewers congratulated the team on their win on Twitter, with one fan @Zonechase saying : “A very well-deserved victory for today’s team! 20 is an excellent score, and executing 3/5 pushbacks put even more pressure on the Vixen.”

Another @RealCameronMcUK said: “Very well played to the team tonight against The Vixen tonight on The Chase.”

And @charybdis1966 said: “Well done team – happy for them all – especially the hero of the round: Emma. #TheChase”

The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV tomorrow.

Joe Biden's US sends UK Brexit warning amid intense Brussels border row

Although the US and UK seem united on major global issues, one point of contention is the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol. When Mr Biden was campaigning for election he hammered home relentlessly that he would “ensure there was no US-UK trade deal if the implementation of Brexit imperils the Good Friday agreement”. This week US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has met UK Foreign Minister Dominic Raab in London.
On Monday at a press conference, differences emerged between the US and the UK’s attitude towards border issues in Northern Ireland that have arisen due to Brexit.

The new Biden administration regards the Northern Ireland Protocol as being essential in protecting the Good Friday Agreement, which was signed to ensure peace.

However, problems are brewing in Northern Ireland regarding sovereignty issues, where unionists feel they are slowly being incorporated into a united Ireland, within the European Union.

Regardless of this US Secretary of State, Mr Blinken, stressed that the US would protect the arrangements agreed in the Good Friday agreement above all else.

At the London press conference with Mr Raab on Monday he said: “As Brexit-related provisions of the Northern Ireland protocol begin to be implemented, we will continue to encourage the UK to prioritise political and economic stability.”

Mr Biden, who stresses the importance of his Irish-American heritage, has frequently warned the UK to not make the Good Friday Agreement a “casualty of Brexit.”

The Northern Ireland Protocol section of the Brexit deal has created a situation where Northern Ireland’s customs and regulatory conditions remain aligned with that of the EU.

This protocol was negotiated in order to ensure there is no hard border on the island of Ireland.

JUST IN: UK plans major change after reminding EU who’s in charge

The border in the Irish sea effectively means that Northern Ireland is economically united with the Republic of Ireland.

At the press conference on Monday, Mr Blinken also highlighted the positive aspects of US and UK relations.

He affirmed that both nations would promise to “stand up” to Beijing on human rights issues, such as the network of “re-education” camps in Xinjiang province.

Speaking about British relations with the US, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said: “We’ve stood shoulder to shoulder for nearly 20 years, sharing a mission and having each other’s backs.

“We’ll never forget it.

“The United States has no closer ally, no closer partner than the United Kingdom.

“I’m glad of the chance to say that again here today.”

In March the EU said it would take legal action against the UK and said a formal notice was sent as a consequence of Westminster’s decision to delay the implementation of checks on goods going from the UK to Northern Ireland.

However, the UK’s Brexit minister David Frost has said that the Government will hold “productive talks” with the EU over the issue of checks on the newly imposed Irish Sea border.

Harry Wilson sends message to Jurgen Klopp after stunning hat-trick for Cardiff

Author: [email protected] (Samuel Meade)
This post originally appeared on Mirror – Football

Harry Wilson insists he is “good enough” to play for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side after bagging a hat-trick for Cardiff.

The Welshman was forced to leave Anfield once again in the summer as he sought regular football.

Wilson spent last season playing in the top flight with Bournemouth having impressed in the Championship with Derby the year prior to that.

The 24-year-old was forced to drop into the second tier once more but is in no doubt he would make a difference if he was given a chance with the Reds.

“I feel I’m good enough to be in that squad,” said Wilson. “I’d like to think I could go in there and add something different.

“It’s always been my aim to get into the Liverpool team and play for the club I’ve been at since I was eight. But you know the quality Liverpool have got, the famous front three [Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane].

“I’ve always been confident in my ability and, playing with the players in that team, I feel it would help me with my game.”

Curtis Jones and Neco Williams have broken into the first team over the past 12 months and Wilson is hoping to do the same.

The midfielder is determined to play as high as he can though and will have no problem seeking a move if Klopp cannot present him with opportunities at Liverpool.

He added: “That’s out of my hands. That’s up to the manager there to make those decisions but I’m fully focused on finishing the season with Cardiff and playing at the Euros with Wales.

“I’m determined to have a good tournament there and, if it’s not with Liverpool [next season], I’m determined to get a move. I feel I deserve to play at the highest level I can.”

Jurgen Klopp sends Man Utd and Chelsea warning to Liverpool stars

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has sent a warning to his players that if they are to win next season’s Premier League title, it will not just be Manchester City whom they need to challenge.

The German pointed to a resurgent Manchester United and Chelsea as among the sides who would need to be considered as title challengers next campaign.

City are set to regain the league title – their third crown in four seasons – as they hold a 10-point lead over Manchester rivals United at the top with just five rounds of games remaining.

The Reds are a whopping 23 points off the title pace and are currently languishing in sixth position, although they still retain hopes of securing a top four spot and Champions League football.

Klopp warned ahead of next season: “We are responsible for the things that happen to us. We were involved in the last few years constantly in semi-finals and fighting or league titles.

“I don’t know if other teams felt bad because of us but I wish for them not, I’m not like that. I’m not a person like this.

“They [City] deserve the situation they are in. That is football, that is fair. They won an awful lot of games. United turned the game around [against Roma] – like they did 20 times this year.

“I had my bad moments in the season for other reasons, not because other teams are winning more games than us.

“That’s not my problem, my only problem is with the opponent of the specific weekend and not think, ‘oh my God, City again and United are back on track’.

“Life is too short for these kind of worries or thoughts.

“We will challenge them again next year but this year we can only finish our season as good as possible and we have nothing to do with semi-finals and finals.

“It always becomes harder because City never stops. That is clear. They did not stop and they will not stop.”

Klopp went on to directly name both United and Chelsea as sides who would be in a position to challenge for the title, while also name-dropping other sides with the capability of challenging.

He added: “United is coming up definitely everyone can see that, Chelsea is obviously in a brilliant place, a top squad.

“Thomas [Tuchel] inherited a present and you can see that they are really good so it will not get easier.

“We’re not just talking about City there will be other teams for sure. We have to deal with all the other teams who are outstandingly strong but still go under the radar like Leicester : brilliant manager and a top squad dealing with different situations.

“Nobody should write off Tottenham or Arsenal. Obviously West Ham is now flying. How can it be easier? It is not only City.”

Thomas Tuchel sends brutal message to Timo Werner and his Chelsea squad

Thomas Tuchel has admitted mis-firing Timo Werner has to deliver more goals for Chelsea – and ordered him to trust his instincts.

The German coach was cracking the whip with his high-flying squad yesterday.

He’s guided them to an FA Cup final, to the brink of a Champions’ League final, and fighting off challengers for a place in the top four.

But Tuchel is demanding more, and urging Werner and his stars not to let a “brutal” playing schedule, and personal trials derail their quest for glory.

Tuchel reckons Werner’s could be over-thinking his goal drought which has seen him net just three times in 33 games since early November.

The 25-year-old got the winner against West Ham last weekend, but missed a good chance in the semi final against Real Madrid this week.

Asked about Werner he said: “Are we happy when he misses a chance like he did in the last game… NO.

“Do we wish for more goals, yes. Does he wish for more goals, yes.

“It is not about quality. It is about confidence and momentum. It is about trusting his instinct more and not overthinking it.

“It is easier said than done. I never scored a goal in my career! If I did it was like birthday and Christmas on the same day!

“He should keep his head up. This is what he does, this is what he used to do. What is the worst case scenario when the next chance comes? That he misses the chance. Billions of people never have a chance to take!

“So take the next chance.”

Tuchel’s side face Fulham looking to press home their advantage in the race for the top four, despite the game being sandwiched between huge European ties.

He added: “We are in the middle of the race. Is it easy to switch from one competition to another? No. But who cares. We don’t want easy.

“The players have worked hard to give us this advantage, to let it slip from our hands. Fully on and not hold back one percent. We play to win.”

Fulham have Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan this season.

Tuchel has offered the former England midfielder an olive branch to prove himself again at Stamford Bridge…. because he reminds him of German legend Michael Ballack.

Tuchel said: “I am quite a fan of him. When he was younger – he is still young- but when he was coming from the Academy, and into professional football he reminded us a bit of Michael Ballack in his style of play and movement.

“He is on loan now and doing good. He is leaving his footprints there.

“It would not be fair to judge him on TV or hearsay. I want to work with players and give my opinion. Maybe that is quick but from a direct impression. I don’t know what his idea is, what my opinion is or the club’s so there is no decision.”

‘He never left his seat!’ Youngster sends baseball fans wild by effortlessly beating player to viral catch at first game (VIDEO)

This post originally appeared on RT Sport News

A young baseball fan enjoyed a dream first game in the stands by making a fantastic catch during the MLB meeting between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Atlanta Braves.

Diamondbacks star Kole Calhoun was attempting to meet a foul fly ball, but found himself having to battle with a 13-year-old supporter of the home team Braves who had brought his own mitt.

The youngster, Cord McLerran, made the catch, but rather than get irritated by the play that helped the Braves, Calhoun could only show respect through a warm fist-bump in a touching moment.

The Trust Park crowd – and many more online – was sent into raptures by the highlight of a 5-4 win for the hosts, after which, the Fan of the Night was interviewed by local media.

As a pundit bigged the boy up as a “celebrity” with the “coolest glasses I’ve ever seen”, McLerran revealed that Calhoun told him: “You caught that one, let me catch the next one.”

“At first when I saw it I was, like, ‘That can’t be coming to me,'” he explained, when starting to tell the story of the event.

“Then I realized it was and I didn’t know whether to stand up or sit down. So I just went for it. And once I saw it was in my glove, I felt so good,” McLerran went on.

Asked what he was going to “tell the guys at school” about his feat, the boy answered: “Well first I’m going to brag about how close to the foul line I was. Then I’m gonna say ‘Yeah, I’m pretty sure I’m famous in Atlanta, Georgia now’.”

Replying to the clip on Twitter, his mother Samantha remarked that she “would have really loved to have gotten his baseball signed, but Kole Calhoun was so awesome to my son!!!”

“It was Cord’s first ever MLB game!,” she added.

“What a great memory for your family and [a] classy move by Kole. Hope your son’s second favorite team will be the Diamonbacks!,” another MLB enthusiast commented.

Golf social media stunner Paige Spiranac also approved, dropping a simple “I love this” message alongside a welling-up-with-tears emoji.

Supply deficit sends palladium price to HISTORIC HIGH

Author: RT
This post originally appeared on RT Business News

The price of palladium, which has been growing steadily, broke an all-time high on Friday, exceeding $ 2,900 per ounce, according to trading data.

June palladium futures surged almost 3% to a maximum price value of $ 2,929, surpassing the previous record set in February 2020. Spot palladium jumped more than 3% to $ 2,930. By the end of the trading day, both gave up some of the gains, with spot palladium closing at nearly $ 2,860 and futures standing at around $ 2,856.

The precious metal has been growing for the third month in a row, gaining over 30% during that time. The price spike comes amid growing concerns that rebounding demand from automakers will exacerbate a supply shortfall. Palladium is in high demand in the automotive industry. The metal is traditionally used in catalytic converters aimed at controlling exhaust emissions by converting toxic gases and pollutants into less-toxic pollutants.

The palladium market has been in a production deficit for several years.

“Basically, there will be a significant shortage this year and automakers need to replenish their stocks,” head of metal derivatives trading at BMO Capital Markets Tai Wong told Bloomberg.

The vast majority of the rare metal is extracted from mines in two countries. Over 80% of palladium global output comes as a byproduct from nickel mining in Russia and platinum mining in South Africa.

“The UCL format right now works great and that is why it’s the most popular club competition in the world – for us players and for the fans.”

Former Liverpool defender Markus Babbel has also taken aim at UEFA, calling the reforms a “disaster”.

“UEFA is laughing its head off!” Babbel told Goal and SPOX. “The 2024 Champions League is also sh*t to the power of 10. Nobody can take that seriously either because it’s all about more games and more money.

“From my point of view, the reforms are a disaster, but at least the teams still have a chance to qualify based on sporting merit.”
