Thor Love and Thunder Taika Waititi: ‘Maybe I won’t work again’ after latest Marvel movie

Next year the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be continuing the storyline of Asgard’s God of Thunder: Thor (played by Chris Hemsworth) in Thor Love and Thunder. The muscle-bound hero was last seen in Avengers Endgame leaving Earth to start the Asgardians of the Galaxy alongside the current Guardians of the Galaxy. Since then, set photos and hints from Waititi have been revealed for Thor Love and Thunder – and now the director himself has opened up about the process of creating the next huge MCU hit.

Waititi recently revealed: “Well, just between (me and) you and the readers, I’ve done some crazy s**t in my life. I’ve lived, like, ten lifetimes. But it’s the craziest film I’ve ever done.” (Via Empire)

While the film’s plot has been kept under wraps over the past two years, he hinted it is more elaborate than fans know.

The New Zealander said: “If you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn’t make sense. It’s almost like it shouldn’t be made.

“If you walked into a room and said: ‘I want this and this and this.’ Who’s in it? These people. What are you going to call it? Love And Thunder.”

Waititi then joked about his job prospects after the film, saying: “I mean, you’d never work again. Maybe I won’t after this.”

Going on to compare the picture to his previous Thor movie, 2017 movie Thor Ragnarok, he revealed: “It’s very different from Ragnarok.

“It’s crazier. I’ll tell you what’s different. There’ll be far more emotion in this film.

“And a lot more love. And a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you’ve seen the photos.”

Hemsworth went on: “Thor is far too young for that. He’s only 1,500 years old.

“It’s definitely not a film that I say goodbye to this brand. At least I hope so.”

To make matters even more exciting, Thor Love and Thunder has since been confirmed to include the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Groot actor Vin Diesel said earlier this year: “Thor[Love and Thunder] will incorporate some of the Guardians of the Galaxy.” (Via ComicBook)

Diesel went on: “That’ll be very interesting, nobody knows, maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.”

In the meantime, fans will have to wait and see how they are involved and what kind of threat they are facing.

Thor Love and Thunder is due to hit cinemas on May 6, 2022.

Loki cleared up a theory from Thor Ragnarok with an unexpected cameo

WARNING: This article contains full spoilers for Loki episode 5

The thrilling fifth episode of Disney Plus show Loki showed the titular character (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) fighting through the void to whoever is behind the TVA. Before that, however, Loki visited the league of Lokis and saw how they were living underground. During this introduction, viewers were gifted a glimpse of Throg – Frog Thor.

Throg appeared in a 2009 Marvel comic book after Thor was turned into the creature by Loki.

The joke was referenced in Loki by showing a frog version of Thor in a jar underground, right next to an abandoned Mjolnir.

This outrageous turn of events had already been detailed in 2017 film Thor: Ragnarok.

During the film, when Thor (Chris Hemsworth) ventured back to Asgard, he found Loki in charge while disguised as Odin (Anthony Hopkins).

Thor arrived just as Loki was watching a dramatic telling of his life story

He witnessed Fake Thor (Luke Hemsworth) acting out the story with Fake Loki (Matt Damon).

Fake Loki said: “I’m sorry about that time I turned you into a frog.” Fake Thor replied: “It was a wonderful joke!”

Loki (Odin) laughed: “It was indeed hilarious!”

Thor also recalled a story that involved Loki turning into a snake and attacking him as children.

The latest Loki episode also included a collection of other references.

In particular, viewers were treated to a glimpse at the infamous Thanoscopter.

This helicopter was used in the comic books by Thanos (Josh Brolin).

While never seen in the MCU, it has now been confirmed to have been owned by a variant version of Thanos.

Viewers also spotted the Guardians of the Galaxy’s spaceship, as well as the helmet of Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll), the villain from Ant-Man.

Loki concludes Wednesday on Disney Plus.

Gladiator 2: Russell Crowe and Chris Hemsworth ‘sharing script ideas’ – Thor star Lucius?

Chris Hemsworth has been in his native Australia shooting Thor Love and Thunder with director Taika Waititi and co-stars Natalie Portman and Tessa Thompson. During a day off, they were spotted watching the South Sydney Rabbitohs play the Sydney Roosters at Rugby League. They were also joined by Gladiator star Russell Crowe, sporting a huge beard, who has been confirmed for a mystery role in Thor 4 too.
Additionally, Hemsworth has shared a photo of himself and his wife Elsa Pataky enjoying time on a boat with Crowe.

Now according to Aussie outlet New Idea’s insider, Hemsworth wants to co-produce Gladiator 2 with the Oscar-winner.

The source allegedly close to the Thor star said: “Chris is in awe of Russell. He hangs off his every word and Russ has really taken him under his wing.”

They added that while filming Thor Love and Thunder, the actors have spent hours talking and sharing script ideas.

The insider claimed that Hemsworth’s wife Elsa planted the seed for her husband to play Maximus’ son.

The source added: “She’s often joked they could easily pass off as father and son – and Russell thinks he could be the only man to credibly play his son in a Gladiator sequel.”

Of course, Maximus’ family were killed in the first movie, but maybe Hemsworth could play Lucilla’s son Lucius all grown up?

Such insider reports should be taken with a pinch of salt, but it’s certainly within the realms of possibility what with Gladiator 2 still in the works.

Scott, 83, has The Last Duel, reuniting Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, in post-production for release in October.

While the filmmaker is currently shooting House of Gucci with Lady Gaga, Al Pacino and Adam Driver for a November debut.

Nielsen continued: “It would obviously be amazing, and I know that a lot of people want to see more of that.

“And I think that all of us are just gonna have to look at that as a separate, different film, you know?”

Nielsen added: “But with some of the emotions and values that made Gladiator so powerful for so many people, which I really think were the underlying values that we were talking about.

“Tyranny versus freedom, and the willingness to do what needs to be done in order to free a people.

“And I don’t think that it would have been the same if it had just been a spectacle. It had to exist within a sphere of values.”

Of course, Crowe’s Maximus perished in Gladiator, but perhaps he could feature in de-aged flashbacks or a vision from the fields of Elysium?

Thor 4 Love & Thunder: Russell Crowe looks completely unrecognisable with Chris Hemsworth

Liam Hemsworth and Damon have been spotted reprising their roles as Asgardian thespians in Love & Thunder.

The big news earlier this month was the revelation that Melissa McCarthy will be joining the spoof scenes as Hela (originally played by Cate Blanchett).

New pictures released yesterday show Crowe with a white beard, alongside Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky.

This would set him up perfectly to play ‘fake Odin’, except Sam Neil is already confirmed (and seen on set) reprising his comedy role from Ragnarok.

Since footage has leady leaked of the fake Asgard reenactions, it seems unlikely he will be included there.

Could Crowe be in scenes with another returning star Jeff Goldblum? The American actor has also been spotted in Sydney with the Thor cast and crew, fuelling speculation there will be a return to the Grandmaster’s planet of Sakaar.
