'Advanced technology' Scientist calculates how fast UFOs filmed by US Navy really are

Alien or not, UFOs are zipping around in our skies and the US government has acknowledged as much. On June 25, the US Pentagon published the findings of its investigation into more than 100 unidentified aerial phenomena or UAPs – military jargon for UFOs. Many of these UFO sightings were made by US military personnel and have been leaked to the internet over the years.

One such sighting saw the light of day in 2016 and was only acknowledged by the Pentagon last year.

The video appeared to show US Navy pilots chasing down a “strange craft” off the US East Coast.

A pilot can be heard in the video yelling out: “What the f*** is that thing?”

The UFO stood out for its bizarre flight patterns, “glowing aura” and seeming disregard for the laws of physics.

Pilot Chad Underwood, who recorded the encounter from his Navy F-18 fighter jet, dubbed the UFO ‘Tic Tac’.

He went on record and said it was unlike anything he has ever seen in his life.

In 2019, the pilot told New York Magazine’s Intelligencer: “It was just behaving in ways that aren’t physically normal. That’s what caught my eye.

“Because, aircraft, whether they’re manned or unmanned, still have to obey the laws of physics.

“They have to have some source of lift, some source of propulsion.”

The Tic Tac, as far as he could tell, did none of that and soared from altitudes of many thousands of feet to just a few hundred “in like seconds”, which the pilot argued “is not possible”.

But Tic Tac is not the only UFO that has defied all conventions – it is one of many objects reported and recorded over the years.

To better understand just how truly incredible these objects are, a team of scientists has devised a tool calculating their speeds.

The so-called UFO Travel Calculator calculates UFO speeds by applying engineering and aeronautical principles to what very well may be “advanced technology”.

Hosted on the Omni Calculator Project, creator and mechanical engineer Rahul Singh Dhari told Express.co.uk many of these UFOs’ characteristics could not be replicated by our modern-day technology.

This does not mean the UFOs are alien; after all the Pentagon’s report found at least one sighting could be explained by a balloon.

However, Mr Dhari thinks UFOs can be taken much more seriously if we look at them through the lens of science and engineering.

He said: “This calculator considers the UFOs as flying objects of some advanced technology and takes it on from a design engineering perspective.

“Like with our modern aircraft, I have tried to design them from essential variables – like wing loading and thrust to weight ratio.

“Based on those parameters and certain assumptions, we can try to estimate their speeds.”

You can visit the UFO Travel Calculator here, to see for yourself how fast these objects travel.

Using the tool, you can pit one of many known UFO types against conventional propulsion systems like the RD-0146 rocket engine.

The flying saucer-shaped Tic Tac, for instance, is estimated to weigh more than 47,000 pounds (21,320kg) with a span of 44.6ft (13.6m).

Armed with a single engine of unknown origin, the spacecraft could hit speeds of more than 11,800mph.

At such speeds, a journey between London and San Francisco – 5,351 miles – would only last 27 minutes.

For comparison, a regular passenger jet would take just under 11 hours to cover the trip.

A triangular-shaped UFO armed with a single mystery engine, on the other hand, is estimated to reach top speeds of 5,196mph.

This type of UFO would take approximately one hour to fly from London to San Francisco – 91 percent less time than a regular jet.

Mr Dhari created the UFO Travel Calculator with his colleague, mathematician Dr Anna Sczepanek.

A key takeaway from the project is that it would be nigh impossible to recreate these mystery craft and propulsion systems using the technology at our disposal.

According to Mr Dhari, there are “several reasons” such as health and safety as well the lack of powerful and sustainable engines.

He said: “I think the cost to develop and build something is steep given it needs a lot of new technologies from structural safety and propulsion standpoint – especially from a travel flights perspective: Imagine flying a much faster Concorde.

“The environmental impact also needs to be evaluated: the climate crisis becomes a massive factor before any project like this even takes off the drawing board.”

As far as the Pentagon report is concerned, Mr Dhari said it is was groundbreaking to see it published.

The publically released report only contained nine pages of a much more detailed and classified document.

But its arrival earlier this year was seen as a very big deal by people involved with the UFO community.

Even if the US intelligence agencies did not reveal the existence of aliens, some experts think it is telling they have not ruled it out either.

Mr Dhari and his colleagues, meanwhile, see the report as a good source of information and data for future research.

He said: “I find it intriguing to know what might come out of it.”

NASA chief orders researchers to study UFOs amid Pentagon report – ‘We want to know’

NASA chief orders researchers to study UFOs amid Pentagon report - ‘We want to know’

Bill Nelson, who recently became NASA’s new administrator last month, said there was not yet any evidence that extraterrestrials have visited Earth but admitted it was too early to rule out the possibility. The US space agency’s research into the phenomena comes as the Pentagon prepares to make public a report detailing all known UFO investigations by the US military.

Speaking on the recent UFO encounter filmed by US Navy pilots, Mr Nelson told CNN: “We don’t know if it’s extraterrestrial. We don’t know if it’s an enemy. We don’t know if it’s an optical phenomenon.

“We don’t think [it’s an optical phenomenon] because of the characteristics that those Navy jet pilots described … And so the bottom line is, we want to know.”

NASA press secretary Jackie McGuinness told reporters that Mr Nelson had not established a formal task force to investigate UFOs.

However, she added that researchers could look into the topic as they see fit.

She said: “There’s not really a lot of data and … scientists should be free to follow these leads, and it shouldn’t be stigmatized.

“This is a really interesting phenomenon and Americans are clearly interested in it [so if] the scientists want to investigate, they should.”

Recent reports have suggested the Pentagon is concerned that the mysterious objects filmed during the recent US navy encounter could be Chinese or Russian “hypersonic” weapon experiments.

The experimental technology which can launch aircraft or missiles up to 4,000 miles per hour would perhaps explain how the mystery objects are able to move in ways that defy the laws of physics.

UFO report release date: When will the Pentagon reveal what it knows about UFOs?

UFO report release date: When will the Pentagon reveal what it knows about UFOs?

The US Department of Defense (DoD) is due to declassify a number of UFO sightings reported by military personnel in recent years. UFO investigators and conspiracy theorists alike are hopeful the Pentagon report will shed light on many high-profile profile UFO sightings, including declassified videos of “strange craft” in US airspace.

The report’s imminent release date has sparked a renewed interest in the UFO phenomenon, with former presidents commenting on the affair.

Barack Obama has recently confirmed the existence of UFOs though he would not speculate on their supposed alien origin.

Speaking to James Corden on the Late Late Show, the former president said: “We can’t explain how they move, their trajectory. They did not have an easily explainable pattern.

“And so I think that people still take seriously, trying to investigate and figure out what that is.”

When will the Pentagon publish the UFO report?

The Pentagon is expected to publish its report any day now after a six-month countdown was started in late December last year.

The countdown began when president Donald Trump signed a £1.62trillion ($ 2.3trillion) Covid relief and government funding bill.

A section of the bill concerning the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 mandated the DoD to declassify information collected on UFOs.

According to Nick Pope, a former UFO investigator with the British Ministry of Defence, the Director of National Intelligence is due to submit the report to the Senate Intelligence Committee by about June 25.

However, Mr Pope noted the report “could be sent earlier, though a delay is more likely”.

Mr Pope investigated UFO sightings for the British Government in the 1990s and has been closely following the Pentagon story.

He told Express.co.uk: “I’d rather a delay than a rushed report, as we need a thorough assessment of the various US Navy UFO encounters, and of the phenomenon more generally.

“This will inevitably take time, given the challenges of extracting information from the notoriously fragmented US intelligence community, in a situation where information is likely to be highly classified and compartmentalized.”

What is going to be inside the UFO report?

Although many might expect the US government to come clean about UFOs, chances are a lot of the report will be shrouded in mystery.

The DoD will likely withhold its most interesting findings out of national security reasons.

Mr Pope said: “Because the unclassified report can – and inevitably will – have a classified annexe, I’m sad to say that the media and the public may not learn any profound new truths about UFOs, whatever the US intelligence community privately concludes about the situation.

“There’s a lot of confusion and uncertainty about the upcoming report.”

The expert predicts the DoD will try to spin the narrative in favour of “next-generation aerospace and weapon threats, mainly from aircraft, missiles and drones” rather than alien phenomena.

He added: “In particular, I predict a strong focus on the dangers posed by drones, drone swarms, and AI-controlled drone swarms.”

A recently leaked UFO video, for instance, appears to show a swarm of 14 unidentified craft near the US combat ship USS Omaha.

Whatever the case may be, it’s unlikely the report is going to solve one of the biggest mysteries of all time: are we alone in the universe?

UFOs 'are real!' insists expert ahead of US intelligence report into unexplained sightings

UFOs 'are real!' insists expert ahead of US intelligence report into unexplained sightings
US intelligence agencies are due to issue the results of a report following an official investigation into unidentified flying objects. The probe was launched after long discounted sightings by US Navy personnel were publically acknowledged by the US military as being “credible”. Speaking ahead of the US intelligence report publication, researcher Tom Rogan has claimed  that UFOs are very much “real.”
Mr Rogan told LBC’s Iain Dale: “I don’t really think it is a question of whether people believe in UFOs anymore.

“They are real, the issue is what quantity of them are real.

“That 99.9 percent probably are weather phenomena, a plane that gets misidentified or someone who is confused.

“But this small percentage is very real.”

He continued: “I would add to the point of this I am relatively early in my journalistic career and to get this wrong would be a huge credibility loss.

“So I am basing it on pilots I have talked to, people in the government who are studying the issue.

“My main interest point here though is the US Government, the reason why this is getting a lot more attention very quickly I think it is twofold.

“Number one the pilots have finally come out and spoken about it which for a long time they did not want to do because they would lose their flight qualifications.

“Filmed in the Combat Information Center of the USS Omaha / July 15th 2019.

“This is corroborative electro-optic data demonstrating a significant UFO event series in a warning area off San Diego.”

In response to the footage, a Pentagon spokesperson told NBC: “I can confirm that the video you sent was taken by Navy personnel, and that the UAPTF included it in their ongoing examinations.

“I have no further information on it for you.”

UFOs 'exist' and 'cannot be ignored anymore' - expert ahead of bombshell Pentagon report

Leslie Kean, author and independent journalist, echoed Mr Drezner’s comments to USA Today.

She said: “There’s no question anymore that UFOs are real.”

Ms Kean added she’s open to connecting UFOs with extraterrestrial life, but she’s quick to distance herself from conspiracy theorists.

The people who have researched UFOs the most tend to be “agnostic about what they are,” she said.

She also hopes the growing interest in the topic will prompt study from scientists who may offer other explanations.

Joe Biden knows about the existence of aliens and UFOs claims conspiracy theorist
President Biden was recently asked by the press whether he knows about the existence of UFOs. While the current White House incumbent did not reveal the rumours to be true, he also did not deny them. President Biden was asked about extraterrestrials on the back of an interview James Cordon had with former president Barack Obama.
Mr Obama told James Cordon: “What is true, and I’m actually being serious here, is that there are, there’s footage and records of objects in the skies, that we don’t know exactly what they are.

“We can’t explain how they moved, their trajectory. They did not have an easily explainable pattern.

“And so, you know, I think that people still take seriously trying to investigate and figure out what that is.”

During a press conference, President Biden was asked by Fox News: “President Obama says there is footage and records of objects in the sky — these unidentified aerial phenomena — and he says we don’t know exactly what they are.

“What do you think?”

President Biden replied: “You should ask him again,” before making a swift exit.

This has led to speculation that the 45th president of the US does indeed know about aliens, but is keeping tight-lipped.

Prominent alien conspiracy theorist Scott C Waring wrote on his blog UFO Sightings Daily that President Biden’s quick exit from the podium speaks volumes.

The debate over UFOs reached fever pitch when the footage emerged of what some called an alien craft.

The Pentagon will release a report next month over the “unidentified aerial phenomena” (UAP) sightings, but one senator believes they are not of this world.

New Mexico Senator Martin Heinrich told TMZ: “I don’t know what it is, but any time you have legitimate pilots describing something that doesn’t seem to conform to the laws of physics that govern aviation and is in US airspace, I think It’s something we need to get to the bottom of.”

Many experts believe the UFOs, or UAPs, could be highly technological drones sent by a foreign government to spy on the US.

The key word in the two acronyms is ‘unidentified’ which does not necessarily mean they are of alien origin.

However, Mr Heinrich believes there is no government in the world with the technological capabilities to make such drones.

He continued: “If there is a foreign government that had these kinds of capabilities, I think we would see other indications of advanced technology.

“I can’t imagine that what has been described or shown in some of the videos belongs to any government that I’m aware of.

UFOs 'national security concerns' as Pentagon confirms sighting footage is authentic

UFOs 'national security concerns' as Pentagon confirms sighting footage is authentic
UFO footage captured off the coast of California has been confirmed as authentic by the Pentagon who said the mysterious video had been taken by US navy sailors. The clip shows an unidentified object moving across the sky before diving into the ocean and vanishing from view. The Documentary filmmaker who first leaked the footage, Jeremy Corbell, described UFOs as a “concern of national security” following the rare decision of the US military to publically confirmed the sighting.
Mr Corbell told the Australian Sunrise breakfast show: “Essentially what you are seeing are beyond next-generational technology.

“You are seeing technology that far outmanoeuvres, out passes anything we have in our military arsenals.

“This is a concern for national security.

“Look we can no longer deny UFOs are real.”

He added: “There is a UFO presence on Planet Earth and it is homogenous around the globe in your country, in my country.

“It is time, to tell the truth about UFOs.

“They are unidentified we do not know what they are yet.

“But we have got to find out.”

The unidentified fly object was captured on July 15, 2019, by a camera onboard the USS Omaha.

Sailors tracked the UFO with the ship’s sophisticated targeting system before the object suddenly dropped into the sea.

One of the crewmen can be heard exclaiming “wow, it splashed” after the UFO disappeared from their screen.

The US military has rarely in the past publically commented to confirmed or deny cases of UFO sightings.

However, in the case of the July 2019 video, a Pentagon spokeswoman Susan Gough confirmed to The Sun: “The referenced photos and videos were taken by Navy personnel.”

Meanwhile, former Navy Lieutenant Ryan Graves has labelled “unidentified aerial phenomena” a threat to US national security in a recently aired interview with 60 Minutes.

Mr Graves told the programme that he and his colleagues had encountered similar objects hundreds of times while on operation between 2015 and 2017.

A long-awaited Pentagon report into UFOs is due to be made public in June.

Repeating suggestions from other experts, Lt. Graves theorised the UFOs he sighted could be a secret US technology, enemy surveillance devices or something else completely.

He said: “This is a difficult one to explain.

“You have rotation, you have high altitudes. You have propulsion, right?

“I don’t know. I don’t know what it is, frankly. I would say, you know, the highest probability is it’s a threat observation program.”
