Windows 10 users could pay a monthly fee to unlock Windows 11 on all of their devices

Microsoft is poised to offer a completely new way to get Windows running on your PC. Dubbed Windows 365, the Redmond-based company will begin allowing commercial customers the chance to subscribe for remote access to Windows 10, with an upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as it becomes available. Named after its hugely-successful Office 365 subscription, which lets users access applications like Word, Excel, Outlook across a multisite of devices for as long as they pay the monthly fee, Windows 365 will operate in a similar way.

So, rather than paying a set fee to download Windows 11, you’ll pay a smaller cost each month to gain access to the operating system. To begin, this scheme will only be available to commercial customers. Businesses will charged per user per month, rather than paying for each new installation of Windows on the company PCs, laptops and tablets handed out to employees.

“Windows 365 is a cloud service that introduces a new way to experience Windows 10 or Windows 11 for workers from interns and contractors to software developers and industrial designers,” Microsoft 365 general manager Wangui McKelvey explains.

“Windows 365 takes the operating system to the Microsoft Cloud, securely streaming the full Windows experience—including all your apps, data, and settings—to your personal or corporate devices. This approach creates a fully new personal computing category, specifically for the hybrid world: the Cloud PC.”

Following the launch of Windows 10, which Microsoft heralded at the time as the “last version of Windows”, many assumed the immensely-popular operating system would move to a subscription model. Software giant Adobe has enjoyed huge success with its Creative Cloud subscription – as has Microsoft with its Office 365 option for enterprise and consumers.

As well as the lack of individual software licenses for each device, there are some other advantages to Windows 365 over the traditional approach.

According to Microsoft, since the computers in its server farm are doing most of the heavy lifting, Windows 365 will provide an “instant-on boot experience”. Not only that, but it works with virtually all devices, including Macs, iPads, Linux PCs, and Android tablets and smartphones.

Microsoft will remember the last state of the operating system too, so that each time you sign in – you’ll pick up exactly where you left off. That’s true regardless of whether you’re logging back into the same machine, or picking up a new one. The ability to move from desktop PC in the office, to laptop on the train home – and have the same documents, files, and half-drafted email open and ready to go is sure to be a hit with users.

Windows 365 will be available to companies of all sizes from August 2, 2021. Unfortunately, there’s no word on pricing quite yet.

Warzone loadout update: Should you unlock the OTs 9 in Call of Duty?

Today’s Season 4 Reloaded patch is available to download now and contains more than just new Call of Duty Warzone content.

Developers Raven Software has taken the opportunity to rebalance several existing weapons in the game, meaning that there is a good chance that the meta will shift.

For now, it’s hard to say how big a tweak this will prove to be, as players are still dropping into Verdnask and testing stuff out.

This means that while many Warzone loadouts will be updated very soon, most will be sticking with what they know until they hear more about what might be better.

You can check out the full Call of Day Warzone patch notes here, which details every weapon tweak that has been confirmed.

For a shorter rundown, it should be noted that the following weapons have received buffs:

  • GRAU
  • Krig 6
  • M13
  • QBZ
  • M60
  • PKM
  • UZI

Other guns have been tweaked in more detail, meaning that some stats have been nerfed, while others have been buffed.

Raven Software has pledged to keep an eye on the current situation, telling gamers today:

“Statistically, there will always be a ‘best weapon’. That is the nature of a competitive game. Players will seek out and employ any advantage they can, regardless of how minuscule it may be.

“We will take great care to ensure that the ‘best weapon’ never overstays its welcome and has an effect that scales with the skill of the handler. Conversely, there is also a great deal of players who prefer a myriad of options to choose from. Our goal is to provide exactly that.

“We will continue to compress outliers, both over and underperforming, until each Weapon is viable at the very least. We do not want players to feel they are at a distinct disadvantage for not conforming to the generally accepted ‘best weapon’.

“We will be closely monitoring Weapon performance to ensure the game is in a healthy state following the biggest balance update in the history of Warzone.”

Many gamers are asking how to unlock the OTs 9 SMG and if it is worth the hassle of keeping the in-game challenge.

To unlock the OTS 9 in Warzone, you need to kill two or more players rapidly in 15 different games while using an SMG.

For Cold War multiplayer, you will need kill three enemies affected by your Tactical Equipment in 15 different completed matches, which is a lot harder.

Meanwhile, the same challenge can be completed in Zombies mode, but you have to use an SMG to kill 50 Tempests within 2 seconds of them reappearing after teleporting.

It’s a bit of a faff and you can throw some COD points at it as a very lazy alternative across all platforms.

The big question is whether it’s worth unlocking the OTs 9 for use in Call of Duty Warzone.

The early feedback is that it is probably worth the time to add the new SMG to your collection.

This will also mean leveling it up as you will need to unlock the 40-round ammo magazine to make it viable.

Gamers are noting that while it doesn’t have a lot of ammo capacity, it should only take around eight shots to take down a player.

It also comes with an easy amount of recoil and provides enough firepower so that you can take down two players at once.

However, while it could prove very useful in Solos and Duos, the new OTs 9 might not be so handy when facing teams of four.

You've only got one day left to unlock FREE £10 to spend on Amazon

This weekend is your last chance to claim £10 to spend on anything on Amazon. The deal, which kickstarted on June 7, comes to an end before the annual Prime Day sales begin. For those who don’t know, Amazon Prime Day is a two-day sales event (yes, the name is confusing) that sees thousands of prices drop across almost every department.

To get your hands on a complimentary tenner from Amazon to spend on anything you want in the sales… you’ll need to make an eligible purchase before the stroke of midnight on June 20, 2021. Amazon will only hand over £10 credit if you buy something from a small business selling on its vast retail site. The scheme is designed to be a nice helping hand for small businesses that sell their products through Amazon.

Thankfully, there’s a really clear “small business” banner that will appear on listings that will unlock the £10 credit, so you won’t be in any doubt whether the item you’re looking at will net you the bonus.

If you don’t have any items in your basket right now, but fancy the discount, Amazon has handpicked some eligible items here. There are multiple lists for popular categories, including homeware, electronics, toys and games, books, handmade items, pet supplies, and more. Amazon also lets you drill-down by region, so you can find a local seller.

Once you’ve made a purchase, Amazon will email you with a link to claim the £10 credit. It will then be ready and waiting on your Amazon account to redeem between June 21 and 22 during the annual Prime Day sales.

For those who don’t know, Amazon Prime Day is like Black Friday… but for Prime members.

The sales event, which started as a single day (hence the name) but has now expanded to a 48-hour shop-a-thon, sees thousands of deals in every department on the online superstore. It’s always a good time to bag a discount on Amazon’s own hardware, including Fire TV, Amazon Echo smart speakers, and its latest tablets and kindles. However, millions of other brands also get in on the action – with price drops to furniture, gardening, clothes, new TVs, video games, and much, much more.

Don’t worry if you’re not yet a Prime member, Amazon is offering a free 30-day trial that will cover you over the two-day sales, so you’ll be able to take advantage even if you’re not sure whether you want to sign-up to become a long-term member.

Your NHS app collects HUGE amount of personal data to unlock vaccine passport, says expert

Alternatively, you can call 119 to receive a letter that says you’ve been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus. And this might be the preferred choice for many people, given a new alert issued by a security expert this week.

Professor Eerke Boiten, who is the Head of De Montfort University’s Computer Science and Informatics School, has been digging into the underlying code that powers the NHS app.

The update adds two new features to the Your Health tab in the NHS App: Share your COVID-19 Status, and Check Your COVID-19 Vaccine Record.

The former is the one that will come in handy for international travel, with the app saying it allows users to “view and share proof of your COVID-19 status for travel”. And Professor Boiten, in a thread on Twitter, claimed that to access this feature a “large amount” of sensitive data is collected.

The cybersecurity expert said information such as a National Insurance number, ethnic origin and details on employer and occupation – among a number of other highly personal items – are collected by the app.

Sky Q, Virgin and Freesat viewers unlock THREE completely FREE movie channels next week

Sky Q, Virgin Media and Freesat viewers will gain three new movie channels and a new entertainment channel next week. And best of all, these four new channels will be completely free to watch. That means Sky Q and Virgin Media customers won’t see any extra charges on their monthly bills to tune-in and watch (something that will be music to the ears of Sky Q subscribers, who were recently hit with a price hike).
Dubbed the GREAT! entertainment network, these new channels, owned by Narrative Entertainment, will replace Sony Movies, Sony Movies Action, Sony Movies Classic and the Sony Channel. The four new channels will launch in the UK from Tuesday May 25, 2021. From that date, you’ll be able to see these new options appear in the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) on your set-top box.

“Sony has done a wonderful job of cultivating these channels and they’ve been a wonderful partner in this transition,” Narrative Entertainment chief exec Daniel Levin told Variety. “The programming will be uninterrupted. We’re particularly excited to welcome a brand like Pop into the Narrative family, which is without question a premier destination network for children across the UK, and to give an incredible new look and feel to the movies and entertainment channels.”

So, what’s available to watch?

Well, the four channels are as follows: GREAT! movies, GREAT! movies classic, GREAT! movies action, and finally, GREAT! tv.

The titles are pretty self-explanatory, but in case you’re still wondering what sort of shows and films you’ll be able to watch on these free-to-air channels, we’ve got the full breakdown below. While these channels are completely free to watch, they’re supported by advertising, so you will have to put up with your movies and boxsets being interrupted from time to time with an ad break. Of course, many of the titles you’ll find on these channels are available to buy and rent separately from the Sky Store, Virgin Media Store, or streaming services like Prime Video, Apple TV+ and Rakuten, if you’d rather pay to have an uninterrupted movie night.

GREAT! movies will show a pick ‘n’ mix of Hollywood blockbusters, contemporary indie hits and cult classics. So, expect to see the likes of Blade Runner 2049 starring Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, Ridley Scott’s science-fiction Alien prequel Prometheus featuring Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron. War flick Fury, starring Brad Pitt and Logan Lerman, will also appear on the network.

Meanwhile, GREAT! movies classic, will feature back-to-back classic cinema. Expect to see the likes of Oscar-winning musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic tale, Oliver!, the classic Hitchcock thriller Psycho, and Sidney Poitier and Katharine Hepburn in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner.

As the name suggests, GREAT! movies action is all about non-stop explosions, car chases, gunfights, and, presumably, Liam Neeson single-handedly fighting his way through an army of nameless henchman. Classic John Wayne westerns and Jean-Claude Van Damme packed 80s thrillers will be on the menu of the third and final movie-centric channel from GREAT! launching next week.

The last new channel, GREAT! tv, is dedicated to series to binge. The team behind the channel says we should expect “the love and excitement of great drama and entertainment with a familiar mix of scripted series, nostalgia and popular gameshows”. You’ll be able to catch the likes of Murder, She Wrote, Charlie’s Angels, Starsky & Hutch, Hart to Hart, and classic Who Wants to Be A Millionaire.

According to a report from Variety, Narrative Entertainment plans to slowly increase the quality of content available on its newly acquired channels. It is widely-tipped to be in the market for “premium” movie purchases to fill its schedules. Fingers crossed these channels only get better over time and we see some exclusive blockbusters, original productions and more coming to these free-to-air channels (similar to what we’ve seen from Roku).

All the GREAT! channels will be available on Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat on May 25, 2021.

The news comes as Roku, which recently launched its own free-to-air channel with access to exclusive shows, classic series, and blockbusters, announced a swathe of new content. The Roku Channel is available on Roku-branded set-top boxes, Smart TVs, and Sky Q and NOW TV boxes.

Fortnite Gold Lara Croft skin: How to unlock new Tomb Raider variant

Fortnite developer Epic Games has added a new POI to the Battle Royale island on PS5, PS4, Xbox, PC, Android and Nintendo Switch.

Found south of Flush Factory, the new point of interest is the home of recently added Fortnite character Orelia.

The newly added Orelia character can be found alongside a golden assault rifle, which is a useful weapon for taking out the competition.

However, if you visit the area dressed as Lara Croft, you’ll walk away with more than just an assault rifle.

To unlock the golden variant, equip the Lara Croft skin and set a marker to the new island.

If you’re quick, you can run past Orelia and grab the golden assault rifle without having to fight.

Assuming you’re able to grab the weapon before getting killed, you’ll unlock the Golden Lara Croft skin.

Express Online has marked the location on the map below, while a video further down the page shows the exact process of unlocking the variant.

Android 12 brings a long overdue change to the way you unlock the screen

As reported by Android Police, Android 12 brings with it a number of visual changes to the unlock pattern.

The most noticeable change is much thicker lines to the pattern you’re drawing out on the screen, with the colour of this pattern matching your device’s configured accent colour.

These thicker lines are much easier to see with the pattern’s colour contrasting against a device’s wallpaper in a much more visually appealing way than the current white lines.

Elsewhere, there’s another tweak to the Android 12 unlock pattern.

With Android 12 when an incorrect pattern is drawn the grid will flash orange – giving users a visual cue when something goes wrong.
