Epic Apparently Wanted First-Party Exclusives From Nintendo, Microsoft And Sony On Its Digital Storefront

Take this with a grain of salt, but at some stage, the Fortnite creator Epic Games was apparently eager to get Sony, Microsoft and even Nintendo’s first-party titles on its digital storefront – and for all we know, it could still be interested in making this happen one day.

According to yet another internal document from the ongoing Epic v Apple court case, that was made publically available for a short period of time according to PC Gamer – Epic was at least gauging the likelihood of getting first-party games from the big three console creators on its storefront.

It appears it made some serious steps with Sony – offering $ 200 million for “4-6 titles” and was awaiting a response. It had doubts the Xbox team would be as interested due to the existence of “PC Game Pass” and the fact Phil Spencer was “occasionally” meeting with Gabe Newell from Valve.

So, what about Nintendo? Judging by the notes, nothing had got underway with the Japanese company – but even Epic thought it was a bit of a pipedream or a “moonshot” in its own words, due to Nintendo’s corporate history – labelling it a “non-starter”.

Earlier this week, a separate Epic Games internal document revealed Epic had plans to bring Samus from the Metroid series to Fortnite. If we hear any developments about this latest story, we’ll be sure to update it.

How would you feel about first-party Nintendo games on a platform like the Epic Games Store? Could you ever see something like this happening? Share your thoughts below.

4-year-old at center of Texas Amber Alert found safe; man wanted in boy's abduction caught

AUSTIN, Texas (KTRK) — A 4-year-old boy from Austin, who was at the center of an Amber Alert on Monday and was believed to be in serious danger, has been reunited with his mother after being found safe in Harris County.Officials found Wyatt Crowley when they located 36-year-old Joshua Crowley, who was wanted in connection with Wyatt’s abduction.

Law enforcement tracked Crowley to the Houston-area where the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, Texas Rangers and deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested him at a Subway restaurant at West Road and I-45 Monday evening.Crowley was wanted for a shooting that happened Sunday in Burton, Texas, which is near Brenham.

Deputies believe his son was in the car with him at the time of the shooting that left one person injured. Wyatt’s mother reported him missing to the Austin Police Department the same day and an Amber Alert was issued listing Wyatt in “grave danger.”

Employees at the Subway said the boy had no shoes on. They thought he and his father were homeless. Crowley seemed on edge. He asked for his sandwich for free shortly before he was arrested.

“They started busting him down,” said Anna Rivera, an employee. “They yelled, ‘Get down! Get down on the ground!’ I helped troopers open the bathroom door so they could get the boy away and they arrested him out here.”

Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak said the boy was back with his mother Monday night. Crowley was taken to the Washington County Jail. He has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but could face more charges.

Certain criteria need to be met in order for law enforcement to issue an Amber Alert for a missing child age 17 or younger.

First, there needs to be a reasonable belief by law enforcement that an abduction occurred. Additionally, the law enforcement agency believes that the child is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.

Another criteria is that there is enough descriptive information about the victim and the abduction that would assist in the recovery of the child, such as a vehicle description or license plate number. As part of the Amber Alert, the child’s name and other critical date elements, including the child abduction flag, are entered into the National Crime Information Center.

The Amber Alert system, used in all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, was created in 1996. It stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped while riding her bike in Arlington, Texas, and later murdered.

Amber Alert issued for 4-year-old Austin boy with father wanted in shooting

Posted: Updated:

Austin police believe Wyatt Crowley, 4, is in danger. (APD)
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police are looking for a 4-year-old boy they believe is in immediate danger. The family is from Austin, and the boy’s father is wanted in a shooting about 70 miles east of Austin. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police issued an Amber Alert early Monday morning for Wyatt Crowley. They say the boy is 3 feet tall and weighs 30 pounds. He has brown hair and eyes and was last seen wearing a Spiderman sweatshirt.

Police are looking Joshua Crowley, 36, in connection with the case. Crowley is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He has brown hair and green eyes. He was last seen wearing a red bandana on his neck and a black baggy T-shirt.

Crowley is driving a black 2011 Mazda MZ3. His license plate is 737763C. He was last heard from in Burton, Texas which is 70 miles east of Austin.

APD tells KXAN that Wyatt and his parents are from Austin. Police are not calling this an abduction or a kidnapping but they want to find Wyatt because he was with his father at the time of an incident that took place in Washington County, Texas.

What happened in Washington County that triggered the Amber Alert

This is a breaking news update. Below is a news release from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. KXAN will update the story with these details:

According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, on Sunday, 05-02-2021, at approximately 4:00 pm, an apparent random shooting took place at a business located in the 12000 block of F.M. 390 West in the city of Burton. Information indicates that for an unknown reason, a white male fired multiple rounds, from his moving vehicle, at several individuals present at the backside of the business. Numerous rounds struck a 38 year old male as well as striking locations throughout the business building. After the shots were fired, the vehicle departed the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was air lifted to a Bryan hospital with serious injuries. Multiple law enforcement agencies responded and assisted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, to include the Texas Rangers. Investigators conducted witness interviews, conducted the crime scene search, collected evidence and identified a suspect. Investigators learned that earlier in the day, a Washington County patrol deputy had made contact with this suspect due to a motorist complaint on his vehicle on U.S. 290. Investigator also learned the suspect, along with his 4 year old son, had parked his vehicle, behind the shooting location where it was observed throughout the day. The suspect is identified as 36 year old Round Rock resident Joshua Christopher Crowley. Also with the suspect was his son, identified as 4 year old Wyatt Crowley.

At the time the deputy made contact with the suspect, there was no indication that the child would, later in the day, be the focus of an Amber Alert. The alert was placed the same day of the shooting and as a result of an Austin Police Department’s missing person investigation, which was initiated by the mother of the child. The Austin Police Department was made aware of the Burton shooting that listed the suspect as Crowley after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office sent out a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) for the suspect and vehicle shortly after the shooting.

The suspect and the father of the child have not been seen since departing the scene of the shooting. An arrest warrant has since been issued for Joshua Crowley charging him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The child is described as being 3 feet tall, weighing approximately 30 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a Spiderman sweatshirt. The vehicle is described as a 2011 black Mazda containing a paper temporary plate of 737763C. Should anyone observe this vehicle or suspect contact 911 immediately and do not approach. This suspect is obviously armed and dangerous.

Boxing star ‘wanted by authorities over missing woman who was last seen at his home telling him she was pregnant with his baby’

Boxer Felix Verdejo is “of interest” in the investigation of a missing woman whose body may have been found drowned in Puerto Rico, according to reports claiming that she disappeared after telling him she was carrying his child.

Keishla Marlen Rodriguez Ortiz has been missing since Thursday morning, causing local officials to issue a Pink Alert as part of a new bill passed in October to help speed up the process of finding missing women against a backdrop of increasing gender violence on the island.

The alert is for adult women whose disappearances are linked to domestic violence, hate crimes or crimes of a sexual nature, and Ortiz’s sister, Bereliz Nichole, accompanied the move with a video on Facebook appealing for information.

Several local accounts on social media have alleged that the body of a pregnant woman whose blonde hair matched Ortiz’s has since been found floating in a lake, with her family called to identify whether the body is hers.

Verdejo was contacted by criminal investigators on Thursday, according to Boxing Scene, which has said that he initially “shut down” an interview before agreeing to voluntarily meet them with his attorney.

The account also quoted a local news publication which said that Verdejo and Rodriguez were allegedly romantically linked in the past, and reported that Rodriguez’s last location was at his home, where she is said to have arrived with a pregnancy test and the intention of telling him that he was the father.

According to the investigation, the last known location for Rodriguez was at Verdejo’s home where she allegedly arrived with a pregnancy test in tow and to inform the boxer that he was the father.

Ortiz was last officially seen in a car that was found abandoned in the municipality of Canovanas, ESPN said, adding that a police commissioner had told reporters that they were “still looking for [her] alive” and collaborating with the FBI.

“We are interviewing several people who are close to her,” said Police Commissioner López Figueroa, announcing that their information suggested Verdejo had known Ortiz for “11 or 12 years”.

“Countless people are going to be summoned. Anyone who had any contact with her, any romantic relationship, we are also interviewing.” Verdejo’s wife, Eliz Marie Santiago, is also said to have spoken to investigators on Friday.

Verdejo, 27, has scored 17 knockouts in an impressive 29-fight defeat that has only seen him beaten twice.

The most recent of those was in December, when he unsuccessfully challenged Masayoshi Nakatani for the WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title, suffering a ninth-round knockout in Las Vegas.

The former London 2012 Olympic Games competitor for his country had been on a run of four wins before his bid for the belt failed.

Elvis wanted to marry Blue Hawaii star during 'passionate affair' but she turned him down

This post originally appeared on Daily Express :: Entertainment Feed

One glance at Joan Blackman in 1961 and you could be forgiven for thinking you were looking at Priscilla. Both share sharp elfin features and raven hair. Elvis was apparently so smitten when he met her in Hollywood just before he started his military service in 1958 that he repeatedly pursued her and “begged” her to appear in his movies. In the end she did, playing his girlfriend in Blue Hawaii. Their chemistry was so strong, she was brought back for Kid Galahad the following year. Off screen, Joan said they shared a “magical connection” and The King was planning to make her his wife.

In Blue Hawaii, Elvis sings one of his most iconic ballads to Joan, Can’t Help Falling In Love With You – and the actress later revealed that is exactly what he did.

Joan said: When we first set eyes on each other (in 1957), there was a spark, a magic in the air… There was just that special something between us, sometimes so warm and wonderful you could almost reach out and touch it.”

She maintained she refused his repeated offers to help with her career: “I wanted parts because of my ability, not because I was dating Elvis.”

Joan had worked constantly on television since 1954 and in 1960 starred on the big screen opposite Tony Curtis in military drama The Big Imposter.

She was then cast as local island girl Maile Duval in Blue Hawaii. Life imitated art as Elvis played a GI returning home from the army. Hollywood legend Angela Landsbury played his mother.

In a senational 1977 interview, Joan later described how the long-standing attraction with The King ignited on set.

She said: “We had rooms next to each other in the hotel, and for weeks we just lived together.

“He really wanted me as his wife.”

She played Rose Grogan, the sister of a slippery boxing promoter who spots potential in Elvis’ character, Walter Gulick, an amiable small-town wannabe mechanic.

In the film, as always, Elvis gets the girl but off screen he had failed to persuade Joan.

She said: “I was in love with another actor, Hampton Fancher III. Elvis knew about it. When he would ask me about Hampton, I would answer, ‘I love him, El. I love him like a woman loves a man she wants to share her life with.’

“I never lied to Elvis about Hampton, or about anything else.”

To make it all even more complicated, Blackman was actually married to another actor, Joby Baker from May 1959 to November 1961.

Despite her declared love for Fancher, she actually married yet another actor Rockne Tarkingington from 1968-1970 and they had two children.

Her acting career fizzled out after the mid 1970’s, with her last notable role in the 1975 James Mitchum vie Moonrunners.

In 1990 she made one last return to the small screen in the TV series The Castle of Adventure, based on the Enid Blyton book.  The show also starred Brian Blessed and Susan George and Blackman played a school teacher.

Oprah says Meghan and Harry text her saying they wanted to share 'the truth' before chat

This read: “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan.

“The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately.”

Oprah, in her talk with Nancy, revealed she was “surprised” by Meghan and Harry’s comments.

She added: “I’m like, ‘What? You’re going there? You’re going all the way there’, about her thoughts at the time.”

The presenter continued: “I had no idea that it would have the reverberating impact it has had and continues to have. I did a lot of preparation for that.”

Tom Jones dedicates new song to wife Linda 'This is how she wanted to be remembered'

This post originally appeared on Daily Express :: Entertainment Feed

Sir Tom’s new album will be released on Friday and includes two tracks which hold very special personal meaning for the Welsh star. Appearing on BBC One’s The One Show tonight, he told hosts Michael Ball and Alex Jones about the emotional story behind the opening song on Surrounded By Time. I Won’t Crumble With You If You Fall is inspired by the last words Sir Tom shared with Linda before she passed away from cancer in 2016, after 60 years together.
Sir Tom said: “My late wife, Linda, God bess her, had lung cancer she was passing away, I was there in the hospital room with her for the last ten days.

“I said, ‘My God, Linda, I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself. I won’t be able to sing, I won’t be able to get the words out.’

“She said, ‘You must. Don’t fall with me, I gotta go, You don’’t have to. You have to do what we had planned to do, which was to move back to London. I’ve just run our of time. But you’ve got to do it now.”

Sir Tom revealed how Linda gave him the strength to face life without her and the key to dealing with his grief.

He said she told him: “‘When you get on stage think of me laughing, don’t think of me as I am now.

“‘Think of all the years we’ve had together and that should lift you up.’ Which it does.”

In a previous interview, Tom described how Londa told him that he and their son Mark needed to look after each other.

Sir Tom added: “She said to my son Mark and to myself, ‘Well, you two have got to mentor one another now, you’ve got to carry on.'”

Later on the album, Sir Tom has made a touching change to the 1960s classic I’m Growing Old by Bobby Cole.

The song has a particularly melancholy line: “I’m growing drowsy in my chair, and I no longer ponder life, And though I save a lock of hair, I seldom dream about my wife.”

In his new version, Jones has changed the line to: “I’m growing drowsy in my chair, and I no longer ponder life. I don’t save a lock of hair, I often dream about my wife.”

Sir Tom told The One Show how he had originally been offered the song over 50 years ago.

He said: “This guy Bobby Cole who wrote it… I was in Las Vegas and he came to me in my dressing room and said, ‘I’ve got this song, you would sing the hell out of it.’

“I listened and said, ‘I don’t think I’m old enough to sing that at 32. I’d like to be able to feel that I’m growing old when I sing it… so if if I ever get to 70 maybe I’ll do it.’ Well, here we are, I’m 80.

“My producer said, ‘Do you want to admit to growing old?’ And I said, ‘Yes, because it doesn’t say I’ve grown old, I’m growing old, that’s the difference as far as I’m concerned. I have to accept it. What’s the alternative?”

Sir Tom Jones’ new album Surrounded By Time is out on Friday

Kanye West Wanted To End Marriage to Kim Kardashian A Year Ago – Report

Though Kim Kardashian filed the papers, Kanye Wrest reportedly wanted to end their marriage first after he figured they ‘had nothing in common except the kids.’

Kanye West might have finally “accepted” that his marriage with Kim Kardashian is over. Still, one thing Kanye, 43, reportedly can’t accept is the narrative that Kim, 40, was the one who wanted out first. Kanye is “super annoyed that the story is being constantly presented as her divorcing him,” according to Page Six. The publication claims that their sources say Kanye wanted to bail on his marriage back in 2020, adding, “Actually it was him saying for a year that they have nothing in common except the kids and he wanted out. [Kim] pulled all the stops to try to save the marriage.” Kanye supposedly let Kim “file first in order to give her dignity.” HollywoodLife has reached out to Kanye’s camp for comment and will update this post when more information becomes available.

This report might be a case of Kanye being a “sore loser,” but keep in mind what Kanye claimed during his July 2020 tweetstorm. In the same tweet in which he claimed Kim’s family “tried to fly in [to Wyoming] with 2 doctors to 51/50 [detain Kanye in a 72-hour psychiatric hospitalization] me,” he also claimed he wanted to end his marriage in 2018. “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek [Mill] at the Warldolf (sic) for ‘prison reform,’” Kanye tweeted. The accusing message has since been deleted, but it may lend credence to the idea that Ye was the one who wanted out first.

Kim filed the papers in Feb. 2021, seemingly beginning the end of her seven-year marriage to Kanye. In the documents, Kim cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and requested joint custody (both legal and physical) of their four children —  North, 7, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 1.  The filing came after reports that their marriage was on the rocks and that they had been living separately – Kim in the home in Los Angeles, Kanye on his ranch in Wyoming – for months.

At first, Kanye didn’t believe that Kim was serious with the divorce and that things would smooth over and return to normal. However, now that it’s clear that Kim wants out, Ye has come to terms that his marriage is over. “He’s finally accepted it,” a source told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY, right after Kanye got his own legal team together and filed paperwork asking for joint custody. “Instead of extending the heartbreak, it is easier to start getting things done for the benefit of the whole family,” a second source told HollywoodLife. “His lawyers are fully aware of the next steps and will be dealing with all that heavy lifting.”

Austin shooting suspect arrested, wanted for killing 3 people

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Authorities have arrested the former law officer wanted in the shooting that left three people dead and launched a massive manhunt.

Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41, was arrested Monday morning at 7:05 a.m. without incident approximately 20 hours after the shooting, Manor Police and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. Manor Police said Broderick had a loaded pistol in his waistband at the time of his arrest, but no shots were fired.

The Travis County District Attorney’s Office has charged Broderick with capital murder.

Broderick was found between Manor and Elgin walking down Old Kimbro Road just south of Highway 290 after at least two 911 calls reporting a suspicious person matching Broderick’s description. Manor Police say officers immediately responded and conducted a high-risk stop. The department released video of Broderick wearing a black shirt and jeans on the side of the road with his hands up.

After his arrest, officers took Broderick to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office Central Booking facility in downtown Austin.

“I’m especially grateful to the vigilant citizen who called 911 after seeing Broderick, and to the Manor PD officers and TCSO deputies who took him into custody this morning,” Travis County Sheriff Sally Hernandez said in a statement.

Broderick arrested 18 miles east of shooting scene

That shooting took place just before noon Sunday at the Arboretum Oaks Apartments in northwest Austin. It was initially reported as an active shooter situation, but police later said it was an isolated domestic crime. Three people were found dead at the scene.

Elgin ISD confirmed that two of those killed had been students at Elgin High School — Willie Simmons III and Alyssa Broderick. Broderick’s mother was believed to have been the third victim.

According to the Texas Rangers and Travis County court records, Stephen Broderick is a former Travis County Sheriff’s detective and was charged with sexual assault of a child in June 2020.

He bonded out of jail days after his arrest and resigned from the sheriff’s office, according to a spokeswoman.

“I’m truly heartbroken that a former Travis County Sheriff’s Office Deputy is the suspect in such a horrific incident,” Sheriff Hernandez added. “TCSO is standing by to provide any, and all assistance we can to the families of the victims in their time of need.

“I am grateful to the courageous members of our law enforcement who worked around the clock to bring Mr. Broderick into custody without incident,” Travis County District Attorney José Garza said in a statement, adding that his office will request that Broderick be held without bail. Garza also referenced Broderick’s prior release on bail.

“Because Mr. Broderick committed this heinous crime after he paid a money bond to be released on charges related to sexual assault against a child, Texas law permits his detention without bail.”

Broderick was also previously an investigator with the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office.

Star Trek: Tom Hardy ‘wanted by studio to return as Jean-Luc Picard clone Shinzon’

Back in 2002, an unknown Tom Hardy played an imperfect clone of Sir Patrick Stewart’s Jean-Luc Picard. The rising star bagged the role of Praetor Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis after auditioning for the role by tape, which he filmed partly nude. Now, almost 20 years later, a new report is claiming that Paramount Pictures are seeking for Tom Hardy to reprise Shinzon in a future Star Trek project.
Giant Freakin Robot’s trusted source claims Hardy’s Shinzon is just one of a number of previous villains from Star Trek: The Next Generation and other series that the studio is interested in reviving.

Star Trek fans will know that Shinzon was a clone created by the Romulans to replace Picard and spy from inside the Federation.

However, this plan was abandoned and Shinzon was exiled to Remus where he led soldiers during the Dominion War.

At the start of Nemesis, Hardy’s villain then led a coup of the Romulan senate and installed himself as Praetor.

And after his clash with the real Picard throughout the rest of the story, Shinzon ended up dead by the time Nemesis’ credits rolled and the movie was a box office flop.

In the end, plans for a fifth and final Next Generation film were scrapped and Paramount rebooted the franchise in 2009 with JJ Abrams’ Star Trek.

The question then is, if Hardy could be persuaded to return as Shinzon where in the franchise would he fit in?

Paramount announced yesterday that a new Star Trek movie will hit cinemas on June 9, 2023, although what it entails remains a mystery for now.

And let’s not forget he’s long been one of the bookies’ favourites to be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig.

Although only most recently has former Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page overtaken him at the top spot, with Hardy now on 3-1.

Last month, Express.co.uk caught up with his Capone co-star Tilda Del Toro, who backed the 43-year-old to play 007.

She said: “Absolutely yes! I’m rooting for him to be the next James Bond for sure, I would love that. He’s also a bit of a jokester. I think he’d be really good with his charm. He likes to joke, he’s got quite a sense of humour.”

Tilda said that Hardy would bring his cheeky chap personality to Bond, but without giving up the grit of the Craig era.

She added: “It’s very Quentin Tarantino in some ways where I could see him interrogating someone and not taking himself too seriously.

“And maybe that’s the thing that would be really great to see James Bond do. I know he does it, but Tom does it in a very playful way.

“He’s willing to laugh at things and so I’d love to see him interrogating someone while eating nuts, like in that interview [with Leonard DiCaprio for The Revenant].”
