Warzone update today: Call of Duty Modern Warfare Texture Pack, Season 4 patch news

A new Call of Duty Warzone Season 4 update is being released today, and there’s something for Modern Warfare gamers too.

As revealed during the launch of Season 4, Activision has plans to upgrade the current Call of Duty experience.

This includes bringing a visual upgrade to both Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare games.

This makes sense as both games use the same hardware, while Black Ops: Cold War was developed with different tools.

So while Cold War fans won’t have access to the same changes today, they needn’t be particularly concerned.

Unlike the latest Call of Duty, Modern Warfare doesn’t have a next-gen version, which will make this new texture pack a great addition for fans who have just bought a PS5 or Xbox Series X.

It should be noted that this new Texture Pack is an optional addition that will be available to download across all platforms.

It will be accessible to gamers who play Modern Warfare or Call of Duty Warzone, there doesn’t appear to be a time limit on how long it will be available.

The main goal of this new update is to add more high-definition textures to the game, so unless you plan on running the game using 1440p and 4K, you don’t need to worry.

Activision has not shared a time for when this new Texture Pack will be released but gamers are expecting something to drop by 7pm BST.

A message from developers Raven Software explains: “Following the launch of Season Four, Warzone and Modern Warfare console players will also have the option to download a new High-Res Texture Pack on June 22.

“This will add more high-definition textures to the game, which is optimal for those running the game at higher resolutions such as 1440p and 4K.

“The High-Res Texture Pack will have an approximate download size of 7.2-7.6 GB, depending on the console.”

Download sizes are as follows:

  • PlayStation 5: 7.6 GB
  • PlayStation 4: 7.6 GB
  • Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S: 7.2 GB
  • Xbox One: 7.2 GB

Another patch is also expected to arrive this week, although we don’t know exactly when.

Raven Software has promised to nerf the recently launched MG 82 LMG, which has proven to be a little too powerful around Verdansk.

The MG 82 is known for its relatively low-recoil and high ammo magazine, meaning it can do serious damage over good distances.

The only thing holding it back right now is that you need to unlock the MG 82 before you start wielding it.

That means many Call of Duty fans might not have it yet as an option, something that is bound to change over the coming days.

To unlock the MG 82, gamers have to reach level 31 on the new Season 4 battle pass. This is a free tier, meaning you don’t need to make any additional purchases.

However, before you get around to unlocking the MG 82, it should be known that developers Raven Software have confirmed they will be nerfing the new gun.

Expect more news over the coming days regarding how the MG 82, and other guns, are being changed for Call of Duty Warzone.

Warzone Season 4: New Call of Duty download and Modern Warfare update

UPDATE: Today’s Call of Duty Warzone update will be released at 5am BST, launching COD Season 4 across PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-gen consoles.

However, it should be noted that a new Modern Warfare update is being planned but won’t be launched until next week. More details on these patches can be found below.

ORIGINAL: Developers Raven Software are surprising everyone with a special download for Call of Duty Warzone and COD Modern Warfare.

Modern Warfare proved very popular with fans when it launched back in 2019 but no longer receives substantial updates.

These are now mostly reserved for Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War, which have been integrated to form a united player base.

This allows Activision to launch the same content in both games, and there are big plans for Call of Duty Warzone Season 4.

Four new multiplayer maps, five new weapons, new Points of Interests in Verdansk, and a new quest in Outbreak that sets the stage for the next free Zombies map are all being planned for the coming weeks.

But in a surprise move, it has also been announced that a new update is coming to Call of Duty Modern Warfare this month.

As part of the Call of Duty Season 4 launch, MW fans will be able to download a special texture pack.

This will also be available in COD Warzone and will help boost the visuals in both games across all platforms.

The new hi-res download will not be available today, but will be going live next week on Tuesday, June 22.

A message from Activision explains: “Following the launch of Season Four, Warzone and Modern Warfare console players will also have the option to download a new High-Res Texture Pack on June 22.

“This will add more high-definition textures to the game, which is optimal for those running the game at higher resolutions such as 1440p and 4K.

“The High-Res Texture Pack will have an approximate download size of 7.2-7.6 GB, depending on the console.”

Meanwhile, Warzone is getting new points of interest to explore in Verdansk, as well as a fresh storyline to follow.

With the Zombies now gone and Verdansk back in 1984, Activision are starting to lay the groundwork for the next big game update.

A description for the new Red Door event reads: “Something’s gone wrong in Verdansk, and the first step to finding out what is in those crashed satellites.

“Interact with Sat-Link impact sites throughout the city for event rewards and powerful items, and step through the mysterious Red Doors if you’re ready to explore Verdansk like never before.

“Our intel cannot explain the origin of these mysterious red doors around Verdansk, but one thing is certain: They allow you to [[REDACTED]] around the [[REDACTED]]. What’s behind them? Explore and enter them to [[REDACTED]] across the [[REDACTED]].

“Red Doors won’t [[REDACTED]] unless you ping them, and after you step through, there’s no telling [[REDACTED]] exiting out the other side… and stepping into a [[REDACTED]].”

Space Engineers

Keen Software House

Space Engineers is an open world sandbox game defined by creativity and exploration. It is a sandbox game about engineering, construction, exploration and survival in space and on planets. Players build space ships, wheeled vehicles, space stations, planetary outposts of various sizes and uses (civil and military), pilot ships and travel through space to explore planets and gather resources to survive. Featuring both creative and survival modes, there is no limit to what can be built, utilized and explored. Space Engineers features a realistic, volumetric-based physics engine: everything in the game can be assembled, disassembled, damaged and destroyed. The game can be played either in single or multiplayer modes. Volumetric objects are structures composed from block-like modules interlocked in a grid. Volumetric objects behave like real physical objects with mass, inertia and velocity. Individual modules have real volume and storage capacity. Space Engineers is inspired by reality and by how things work. Think about modern-day NASA technology extrapolated 60 years into the future. Space Engineers strives to follow the laws of physics and doesn’t use technologies that wouldn’t be feasible in the near future. Space Engineers concentrates on construction and exploration aspects, but can be played as a survival shooter as well. We expect players will avoid engaging in direct man-to-man combat and instead use their creativity and engineering skills to build war machines and fortifications to survive in space and on planets. Space Engineers shouldn’t be about troops; it should be about the machinery you build. CORE FEATURES Planets and moons – fully destructible & persistent, volumetric, atmosphere, gravity, climate zones Game modes – Creative – unlimited resources, instant building, no death – Survival – realistic management of resources and inventory capacity; manual building; death/respawn Single-player – you are the sole space engineer Multiplayer – Creative and survival mode with your friends – Cooperative and competitive – Privacy customization: offline, private, friends only, public – A host on Xbox One and Xbox One S supports 2 player multiplayer (lobby), 1 host + 1 client – A host on Xbox One X supports 4 player multiplayer (lobby), 1 host + 3 clients New game options – Scenarios – offer linear story with action-packed gameplay, while the majority of Space Engineers scenarios feature unique sandbox environments where players create their own challenges. – Workshop worlds – offer worlds created by other players. – Custom worlds – offer variety of customizable worlds where you can start your own scenario. How to Play Start by watching this video tutorial:http://www.SpaceEngineersGame.com/how-to-play.html Performance Notes The performance depends on the complexity of your world and the type of your Xbox. Simple worlds run smoothly even on old Xbox, but a more complex world with rich object interactions could overload even XBox One X.

Warzone copying add on PS4: Fans share latest Call of Duty Modern Warfare advice

Having released its big Call of Duty Season 2 Reloaded patch, Activision has also left some players in a frustrating Warzone copying add on loop.

From what has been shared online, fans of COD cannot play or do anything more than constantly try and download Modern Warfare and its Battle Royale spin-off.

The file size is around 28GB and usually includes a 30-minute wait for anyone who wants to try and play their games again.

The problem is on PS4, and while the community is sharing a few fixes, there doesn’t appear to be a sure-fire way of avoiding this problem.

Some gamers believe it is connected with the Modern Warfare disc, while others think it has something to do with the Campaign Packs that can be installed.

One user writes: “Go into your game and check to see if all the data packs are downloaded; the latest update uninstalled most of them for me; once I reinstalled them, this stopped happening.

Another adds: “This only started happening after I deleted and reinstalled all the data packs. But that will be my next step, re reinstalling them all to see if that stops it.”

“I had a copy add-on issue and I cleaned the disc really well that fixed it for me.

“This happened to my son, 3 days in a row. He was loading it from the modern warfare disc so I deleted and installed war zone digitally and it seems to be working fine.

“That is something to note, probably an interference with the updated game files and the disc then. But I do still play MP so that’s not an option for me/some players.”

For now, there doesn’t appear to be one fix that is working for everyone, leaving some unable to play Warzone or Modern Warfare.

Last year, Activision made it possible to download and uninstall different data packs to help reduce the size of Modern Warfare.

Below, you can find the list of instructions to find these option on PS4 and PS5 consoles:

1. Launch Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

  • 2. When you reach the main menu, select Options.
  • 3. Navigate to the General tab.
  • 4. Scroll to the bottom and select Game Installs.

5. Highlight any content you wish to uninstall.

  • Data Pack 1 – required for access to Campaign, Multiplayer, and Spec Ops
  • Campaign Pack 1 (Xbox One only) – required to play Campaign
  • Campaign Pack 2 (Xbox One only) – required to play Campaign
  • Multiplayer Pack (Xbox One only) – required to play Multiplayer
  • Multiplayer Pack 2 – required to play Multiplayer
  • Special Ops Pack – required to play Special Ops
  • Special Ops Pack 2 – required to play Special Ops
  • Survival Pack – required to play Special Ops Survival

6. Select Uninstall, then select Confirm.

Here is one fan solution being shared online that is worth checking out for those still affected but it should be noted that it will be be up to Activision to create a proper fix for this latest issue:

“You have to wait the first time it happens, but once you get in the game, go over to the MW panel, select “Campaign” and it will prompt you to download several packs before you can access any of these features.

“Download “Campaign Pack 1” and “Campaign Pack 2” and restart the game. They should be really small files- about 1 MB each (roughly).

“During the last update, the game automatically decided to uninstall several packs you may have downloaded previously, to save space. The packs they uninstalled created this problem. I would also recommend downloading some of the texture packs in that selection… After I got back in-game for the first time without downloading these packs the map looked really funky.

“It uninstalled about 150GB worth of these packs, despite me having more than 3 TB free on my HDD.

ADDED: “Include the special ops pack in the bottom. It’s only one megabyte and removes the need for the add on pop up when starting the game, although it’s a fast copy but annoying.”

Call of Duty 2021: Activision planning big Modern Warfare 3 surprise?

Activision could be preparing to surprise its fans with a double reveal for Call of Duty 2021, including a potential project linked to Modern Warfare 3.

So far, the COD development team have stayed silent regarding what is being planned for Call of Duty 2021.

Gamers have to rely on rumours and reports for now, and some of these point to a few interesting projects.

According to several reports, Sledgehammer Games are in charge of developing the next Call of Duty game, which will be dropping around October-November time in 2021.

But when it comes to the setting, there have been several conflicting ideas shared online.

One of the latest is that Sledgehammer Games will be releasing Call of Duty 2021 with a WW2 setting.

This would make some sense as this era is known as a classic COD setting, with Sledgehammer in charge of developer the most recent WW2 game in the franchise.

But with the integration of Warzone with each new Call of Duty game expected to continue, it raises questions regarding how they would make WW2-era weapons work.

Another recent leak suggests that the Korean War will be the setting, an era of fighting that has not been covered in the Call of Duty franchise by a modern mainline game.

This raises the same questions regarding Warzone, which is expected to get a new map in April.

The one solution to this integration issue would be to release a special WW2 era Battle Royale experience, complete with an exclusive arsenal locked from that era.

Another rumour suggests that Call of Duty 2021 will be set in the future, which will open the development team to bringing different gunplay features and weapons to the game.

This would make an easier fit with Warzone integration and would also provide new map opportunities.

Whatever is being planned, Activision isn’t expected to announce its next COD game for a while.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 could be the next game to get the Remastering treatment from Activision.

Following on from the success of the Modern Warfare 2 Campaign launch, MW3 is expected to arrive in the coming months in the same fashion.

This could include another crossover with Warzone, this time offering Soap as a pre-order skin that will be available to use in Battle Royale.

Activision has already stated that they have more remaster plans in 2021, with Chief Financial Officer Dennis Durkin telling investors earlier this year:

“And then we have a few other things up our sleeve in terms of remastered content that will unveil in due course, which should provide further opportunity for us this year.

“And as Daniel mentioned, and we sort of mentioned throughout our remarks, all of this incremental opportunity is digital, which should allow us to continue to grow our margin as we did and we set record margins last year. So we should be able to build upon that. From a phasing point of view, you see our Q1 guide is obviously extremely strong.”

There was no build up ahead of the MW2 Campaign, so gamers will need to keep an eye out for the latest COD news.
