Warzone loadout update: Should you unlock the OTs 9 in Call of Duty?

Warzone loadout update: Should you unlock the OTs 9 in Call of Duty?

Today’s Season 4 Reloaded patch is available to download now and contains more than just new Call of Duty Warzone content.

Developers Raven Software has taken the opportunity to rebalance several existing weapons in the game, meaning that there is a good chance that the meta will shift.

For now, it’s hard to say how big a tweak this will prove to be, as players are still dropping into Verdnask and testing stuff out.

This means that while many Warzone loadouts will be updated very soon, most will be sticking with what they know until they hear more about what might be better.

You can check out the full Call of Day Warzone patch notes here, which details every weapon tweak that has been confirmed.

For a shorter rundown, it should be noted that the following weapons have received buffs:

  • GRAU
  • Krig 6
  • M13
  • QBZ
  • M60
  • PKM
  • UZI

Other guns have been tweaked in more detail, meaning that some stats have been nerfed, while others have been buffed.

Raven Software has pledged to keep an eye on the current situation, telling gamers today:

“Statistically, there will always be a ‘best weapon’. That is the nature of a competitive game. Players will seek out and employ any advantage they can, regardless of how minuscule it may be.

“We will take great care to ensure that the ‘best weapon’ never overstays its welcome and has an effect that scales with the skill of the handler. Conversely, there is also a great deal of players who prefer a myriad of options to choose from. Our goal is to provide exactly that.

“We will continue to compress outliers, both over and underperforming, until each Weapon is viable at the very least. We do not want players to feel they are at a distinct disadvantage for not conforming to the generally accepted ‘best weapon’.

“We will be closely monitoring Weapon performance to ensure the game is in a healthy state following the biggest balance update in the history of Warzone.”

Many gamers are asking how to unlock the OTs 9 SMG and if it is worth the hassle of keeping the in-game challenge.

To unlock the OTS 9 in Warzone, you need to kill two or more players rapidly in 15 different games while using an SMG.

For Cold War multiplayer, you will need kill three enemies affected by your Tactical Equipment in 15 different completed matches, which is a lot harder.

Meanwhile, the same challenge can be completed in Zombies mode, but you have to use an SMG to kill 50 Tempests within 2 seconds of them reappearing after teleporting.

It’s a bit of a faff and you can throw some COD points at it as a very lazy alternative across all platforms.

The big question is whether it’s worth unlocking the OTs 9 for use in Call of Duty Warzone.

The early feedback is that it is probably worth the time to add the new SMG to your collection.

This will also mean leveling it up as you will need to unlock the 40-round ammo magazine to make it viable.

Gamers are noting that while it doesn’t have a lot of ammo capacity, it should only take around eight shots to take down a player.

It also comes with an easy amount of recoil and provides enough firepower so that you can take down two players at once.

However, while it could prove very useful in Solos and Duos, the new OTs 9 might not be so handy when facing teams of four.

Warzone patch notes: Early Call of Duty Season 4 update news for Reloaded

Warzone patch notes: Early Call of Duty Season 4 update news for Reloaded

For fans wanting to know more about today’s big Warzone update, there will be plenty being shared by developers Treyarch in the coming hours.

We already have the headlines, including what new weapons, modes and items will be making their debut on July 15 in Warzone.

A new Call of Duty Sentry Gun Killstreak looks set to create all kinds of mayhem in Verdansk, especially toward the final circle.

Gamers will be able to set up the automated rapid-fire turret in most locations and scans in a near-180-degree radius in front of itself to seek and destroy enemies.

It executes this pattern for at least a minute after deployment before collapsing via the normal harmless explosion used in Warzone.

But while the Sentry Gun could prove to be the winning decoy to secure the final elimination, it will only be found as an extremely rare Legendary item drop within a Red Door room Supply Box.

So while the Sentry Gun will be an incredible tool to have, it won’t be easy to find and use in every match.

The OTs 9 SMG will be a new machine gun that will be available to unlock later today and could be another big game-changer.

We don’t know how big an impact it will have but Activision describes it as a weapon that boasts solid damage at a high fire-rate, and can be compared to the Bullfrog in terms of damage and fire rate.

The downside will be the 40-round maximum ammo round available in a clip but it could still prove to be popular after it arrives.

More changes to weapons are expected to be confirmed in today’s patch notes, including what is being nerfed and what is getting a buff.

But until we have access to the full Warzone Season 4 patch notes, here’s the early news shared by Treyarch this week:

Warzone has received several innovations since its launch, from in-game events like the Haunting of Verdansk to Resurgence modes, and even a bit of 50v50 rumbling.

Now, as part of Season Four Reloaded, the massive free-to-play experience introduces its newest objective based mode: Payload.

Inspired by previous traditional Call of Duty game modes like Call of Duty®: WWII’s War Mode, Payload pits two teams of 20 players against each other in a race against time for crucial intel, as these vehicles carry satellite parts that could help shift the balance of the war between Perseus and NATO.

Ahead of Season Four Reloaded, we’re here to warn you that the Warzone can, and will, turn into a Blueprint Blitz.

Similar to Double XP weekends, Raven Software is planning to activate a new special global event where Contraband Contracts automatically spawn after you complete two regular Contracts. Contraband Contracts award you with a permanent Weapon Blueprint reward if you’re able to extract it from the DZ, in addition to tons of Cash within your current match.

There is plenty more that will be included in Season Four Reloaded for Warzone, which Raven is set to cover in its patch notes blog. But for now, one more important update is the introduction of Battle Pass and Store Bundle Gifting feature from Black Ops Cold War.
