The Witcher 4 release date: Will it be revealed with Witcher Season 2?

WitcherCon is an event that will provide updates for fans of both the Netflix series and Video Games franchise.

Described as a virtual fan event, WitcherCon is set to include the first-ever multi-format event dedicated to The Witcher universe.

There will be announcements for fans of The Witcher spanning both genres, although some will come away more happy than others.

While it seems very likely that we will learn the release date of The Witcher Season 2 during the event, there will be no new game announcements.

That means that The Witcher 4 release date will not be announced during the show.

There will be no new reveals for The Witcher 4 game or what developers CD Projekt Red has planned for expanding the franchise.

A message from the WitcherCon website reads: “In case you’re wondering, no new Witcher game will be announced at WitcherCon, but there are still lots of reasons to tune in.”

While this will prove to be disappointing for gamers waiting on more news, that doesn’t mean there won’t be anything to look forward to.

One subject expected to be a focus will be the next-gen version of The Witcher 3. Expected to launch in the coming months, the new PS5 and Xbox Series X port will come with some interesting upgrades.

CD Projekt Red revealed back in 2020: “Developed to take advantage of powerful video-game hardware, the next generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 will feature a range of visual and technical improvements — including ray tracing and faster loading times — across the base game, both expansions, and all extra content.

“The next-generation edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available as a standalone purchase on PC, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, and as a free update for current owners of the game on PC, Xbox One or PlayStation 4.”

Meanwhile, here is what we know will be shared during WitcherCon, which is set to be held on July 9, 2021:

“Taking place on Friday, July 9th 2021, WitcherCon is an epic event for Witcher fans old and new, bringing together the worlds of The Witcher video games and the TV series.

“It will feature a variety of entertaining and interactive panels spotlighting the people who brought The Witcher to life in-game and on-screen.

“Breaking news, exclusive behind the scenes and never-before-seen reveals from across The Witcher franchise.

“Intimate looks into the creativity and production behind CD PROJEKT RED’s games, including the upcoming mobile game The Witcher: Monster Slayer, comic books and fan gear, AND Netflix’s live action series The Witcher plus merchandise, as well as the anime film Nightmare of the Wolf.

“Expect explorations into the lore, legends, monsters and origins of the Continent.”

The WitcherCon start time has been set for 6pm BST on July 9 and will be available to watch on YouTube.

PS Now June 2021: THREE new PS4 games and The Witcher 3 for PlayStation Now?

New PS4 games are being added to the PlayStation Now streaming service for June 2021.

The tech giant usually offers at least three new games each month for subscribers to try out for a limited time.

Some of these are only added on a temporary basis and can disappear within a few short months.

The next PlayStation Now games are expected to be released on Tuesday, June 1, all of which will be sourced from the PS4.

There are currently no PS5 games available through PS Now, and it’s unclear when this might change.

However, that doesn’t make predicting what is being released for PS Now next any easier.

With so many first and third-party games available on the last-gen gaming machine, there could be several surprises.

A recent rumour suggests that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could be added to the PlayStation Now in June.

A recent glitch noticed by subscribers included The Witcher 3 being added to the PS Now service on PS5 consoles.

The Witcher 3 was originally released in 2015 and proved a massive success on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

And having launched on several different platforms, it would make a perfect time for it to land on PS Now. The official game description reads:

“In Wild Hunt, you as Geralt embark on your most epic and dangerous journey yet. Your mission — to find the child of prophecy, an ashen-haired girl, a living and highly volatile weapon everyone wants to control.

“The stakes have never been higher: the Elder Blood flowing in the child’s veins can bring about a final end. The fate of worlds lies with you.

“The Wild Hunt — for ages, the appearance of this cavalcade of ghostly riders in the night sky has presaged war, plague and death. Few know the riders’ true nature or origin, yet fear grips all at their passing.

“It is believed they steal souls to add to their ghastly retinue. They come at night, in the cold of winter, and the Aurora Borealis always precede their appearance.”

For now, there is no way of knowing if this latest rumour is true, the good news being that we won’t have to wait long to find out.

Sony is expected to reveal its plans for PS Now today (May 31) or on Tuesday, June 1.

It’s unclear if Sony will change its plans due to the holiday, but there’s a good chance we will find out what is being planned in the coming hours.

Unlike PS Plus, PlayStation Now subscribers can get massive refreshes, which in the past have included up to seven games.

These can vary in quality, but with a few high-profile games disappearing at the end of April and May, this could be a bumper month for announcements.

The end of May will see the following games removed: Wreckfest: Drive Hard. Die Last and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.

These will be disappearing later today (May 31) and will be replaced later this week by at least three new games.

Anniversary: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Is Now Six Years Old

Witcher 3© CD Projekt

Before Cyberpunk 2077, the Polish-based company CD Projekt Red was busy with The Witcher, which originally started out as a series of fantasy novels by Andrzej Sapkowski.

The video game adaptation peaked at The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015, and is considered to be not only one of the standout games of the past generation but also one of the greatest games of all time.

This week marks the third entry’s sixth anniversary – with CDPR taking this opportunity to remind everyone on social media.

Although Witcher 3 didn’t arrive on on the Switch until later on in 2019, this part of its history is arguably just as important.

Prior to the official confirmation, a Switch release was thought to be impossible to port – and well, Saber Interactive managed to work wonders and make it a reality, bringing across the entire game (including both expansions and all of the DLC) to the system. It even followed this up with a number of performance updates.

The second game also celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this week. Can we have this now as well, CD Projekt Red?

Have you played The Witcher 3 yet? What are your own memories of Geralt’s epic action role-playing game? How about the second game? Leave a comment down below.
