Teddy with dead mum's voice is returned to emotional daughter after being stolen

A woman left inconsolable after a teddy bear containing her dead mum’s voice was stolen was reunited with the stuffed toy after the search went viral – as shown in an emotional video.

Mara Soriano tragically lost her mum Marilyn to cancer and the bear was custom-made with her voice inside saying: “I love you, I’m proud of you, I’ll always be with you.”

Hundreds of people, including Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds, raised awareness of the tragic crime and the actor even offered a $ 5,000 (£3,849) reward for the bear’s return.

Thankfully, the reward worked and a video shows Mara beaming with joy when she is reunited with the teddy bear and her mum’s heartbreaking message of love.

Pressing the bear, she begins to cry when the voice of her mum tells her she will always be with her.

Marilyn died of cancer in June last year, aged 53 and recorded the final message before entering end of life care at a hospice, Mirror Online reports.

When Mara and her fiancé were moving to a new flat on Friday, a heartless thief swiped the irreplaceable bear along with an iPad and Nintendo Switch video game, from a backpack momentarily left outside.

Speaking at the time, Mara told CBC : “It just makes me feel devastated. I’m absolutely crushed.

“At the hospice her voice was different. Much softer. Not the mum I grew up with. That bear is the last memory I have of her speaking in her normal voice.

Mara lives in Vancouver in Canada, the home city of Reynolds, and was born in the Philippines but moved to Toronto when she was nine.

She said: “The bear has a message in it in Filipino. It says ‘I love you,’ but in our language. So it’s very specific and very unique.

“I just really want to find my bear. That’s all that I care about.”

Two people returned the bear on Tuesday night, having reportedly taken it from the thief.

Reynolds tweeted: “Thank you everyone who searched high and low.

“To the person who took the bear, thanks for keeping it safe.

“Vancouver is awesome.”
