The Beatles song Lennon called ‘LOUSY’ and ‘ ’ will really surprise you

John Lennon was shy of self-deprecation, especially when he wasn’t happy with The Beatles’ work. But did you know that he saw one of their hit tracks as “lousy” and “ a song”? Well it turns out it was Eight Days A Week.

During the height of Beatlemania, the Fab Four had starred in their first feature film A Hard Day’s Night.

And with a second planned, The Beatles were trying to come up with a single that could be the title.

And Eight Days A Week certainly fit in with their heavy touring schedule of the time.

But of course, in the end, the movie was called Help! after the song of the same name and the band performed Eight Days A Week live.

Spotted by Far Out Magazine, told Hir Parade in 1972: “I think we wrote this when we were trying to write the title song for Help! because there was at one time the thought of calling the film Eight Arms To Hold You.

“Help! as a film was like Eight Days A Week as a record for us.

“A lot of people liked the film, and a lot of people liked that record.

“But neither was what we wanted—we knew they weren’t really us.”

continued: “We weren’t ashamed of the film, but close friends knew that the picture and Eight Days weren’t our best.

“They were both a bit manufactured.

“Eight Days A Week’ was a song.

“We struggled to record it and struggled to make it into a song.”

The film will focus on what the late Beatle did creatively in his last year, 1980.
