The Chase fans called out host Bradley Walsh for being “patronising” as a young contestant took part in the ITV quiz show.

Ben, 19, took on chaser Anne Hegerty during Tuesday’s episode, and the student put on an impressive performance.

Bradley exclaimed: “For 19 with those questions as well, that was terrific.”

He added: “Well played for the 19 year old, terrific.”

Viewers thought the television star was being “patronising” as he continued to mention Ben’s age.

One said: “How patronising is Bradley to young players? Does my head in #TheChase.”

While another wrote: “Four grand is excellent “for a 19 year old”? How patronising. It’s not that good regardless of age #thechase”.

A third added: “We get it…He’s 19 #TheChase.”

“Oh STFU about age!!!!”, penned a fourth.

Ben was in fact the only player to make it into the final chase against the incredibly smart Anne.

He answered ten questions correctly, and so had a 12 step lead against Anne during the final round.

However, Hegerty, known as The Governess, was just too good and she caught him with just over a minute to spare.

Monday’s episode of the iconic programme left viewers outraged as a contestant took the minus offer despite performing well in her cash-builder.

Even host Bradley Walsh seemed frustrated as she knocked £9,000 off of the team’s potential winnings.

During her cash-builder round, Kay made an incredible £7,000, but she then made controversial decision which cost her team thousands.

She took the low offer of minus £2,000, saying it was because she wanted to be in the final chase against Jenny Ryan.

Viewers were furious, and some noticed Bradley seemed miffed too.

One said: “Love that Brad makes it very obvious he doesn’t approve when player take a minus offer.”

While another wrote: “Bradley’s well p****d off.”

“Kay has effectively denied the cash pot £9,000 – £3 grand light each!”, fumed a third.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
