The Expanse season 5 release date Amazon: Will there be another series? 1

Sci-fi fans saw humans battling it out for resources on The Expanse for three seasons on Syfy. Now on Amazon Prime, the show is still set hundreds of years in the future and the fight continued in season four between Earth and Mars which has become an independent military power. But will we see a fifth season?

Will there be another series of The Expanse?

The short answer to this is yes, the series will return for a fifth season.

The news was announced in July, well ahead of the season four release date, at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

Despite the show being cancelled by American channel Syfy after series three, the show was picked up by Amazon Prime just a few weeks later and it looks like it’s going to be around for a while.

So when will season five appear on the streaming service?

The Expanse is based on a series of books of the same name written by James SA Corey.

As season four was centred around the story in the 2014 novel Cibola Burn, it seems more than likely the fifth season will be based on the following year’s sequel, Nemesis Games.

If the book is anything to go by, we will be delving more into each of the main character’s personal lives.

We will be seeing Naomi’s (played by Dominique Tipper) past come back to haunt her, Amos (Wes Chatham) go to Earth and Alex (Cas Anvar) pay a visit to Mars to see his wife.

Meanwhile, Holden (Steven Strait) may continue to try and hold everything together as more rebellious attacks break out on Earth, Mars and the Belt.
