The ongoing coronavirus has put television productions worldwide on hold, with Hulu’s dystopian series initially set to continue filming this year. During the wait for the next exciting instalment of The Handmaid’s Tale, fans have spotted some clues for what may lie ahead.
Fans last left the series in turmoil as June (played by Elisabeth Moss) suffers a deadly blow by a Gilead guard.
Although the rebellious handmaid had just succeeded in liberating over a hundred children to Canada, her fate still hangs in the balance.
During the ongoing hiatus, fans have been looking back at earlier episodes for clues as to how the series could continue.
Although the show’s star Elisabeth Moss was ready in Toronto to start filming the next series, The Handmaid’s Tale production schedule was interrupted by the current COVID-19 outbreak.

Unfortunately, it may be some time before fans are able to discover the fates of June and her husband, Luke (O. T. Fagbenle).
Fans are hoping the series will continue with June finally escaping the grasp of Commander Waterford (Joseph Fiennes).
Throughout the series, both the oppressors and the oppressed are having their morals tested as they are forced to consider whether what they are doing is right.
For example, Commander Waterford’s wife Serena Joy (Yvonne Stahovski) had to genuinely reflect on her position when the offer of freedom was presented to her during a visit to Canada.
Additionally, one fan took to Reddit to discuss her relationship with another handmaid, Janine (Madeline Brewer).
Reddit user Batistasfashionsense posted: “I think we can agree it is not the sweet and wholesome relationship both Lydia and Janine might think it is.”
They continued by pointing out how, although the pair have bonded when Lydia gave Janine her new eyepatch, the kind gesture is negated by the fact Janine ordered the removal of her eye in the first place.
Other fans are speculating Janine could have some sort of Stockholm Syndrome, and their shallow pleasantries could snap once Lydia realises she’s been doing to the young handmaid.
