TUI holidays: Devastation for Britons as summer travel cancelled until June amid COVID-19 1

TUI initially cancelled all holidays up to and including May 14, meanwhile, Marella Cruise sailings were suspended until at least June.

The new update means that their holiday suspensions have since been extended for a further month, impacting 900,000 in total according to reports.

The Sun’s travel editor Lisa Minot issued a tweet this morning revealing the latest update.

“TUI cancels all beach hols to June 11 and cruise to June 30. In total it has now cancelled trips for an astonishing 900,000 customers. Customer service dealing with bookings in date order,” she wrote.

Express.co.uk contacted TUI for further information. A spokesperson said:  “Due to the ongoing travel restrictions, we will be cancelling all TUI holidays until 11 June 2020 and all Marella Cruises up to 30 June 2020.

“We are proactively contacting all customers whose bookings are impacted to offer a range of flexible options.

“Customers will receive a 20% booking incentive when accepting a refund credit to move to another date, or can request a cash refund.

“For customers travelling after 12 June 2020, we have extended our flexible amends programme until 11 July, so customers with bookings between 12 June and 11 July can amend to another date for free.

“We would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding, especially given the scale of people we are trying to help.”
