Fury and Joshua have been talking up their British rivalry as they received the go-ahead for an undisputed world title clash next year.
The WBC has confirmed that the ‘Gypsy King’ has ‘no restrictions’ to prevent a blockbuster battle with Joshua.
The news comes after WBC mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte suffered a shock loss to Alexander Povetkin last weekend.
Joshua must first face mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev, a clash which could potentially happen in November after it was postponed from its original June date.
AJ is also confident of victory over Fury, predicting how he would overpower the WBC champion during an appearance on ‘A League of Their Own.’
“First six, I know I’m going to take him out,” said Joshua. “I’ve had a shorter career, so I’m fresher. Been in the deep end longer, so I’m used to the pressure.
“I believe I’m going to handle the pressure and I’m going to take him out.”
But Fury made a typically swift response on social media, saying: “I would batter Joshua inside the first round.”
And the 32-year-old went on to cast doubts over his anticipated Battle of Britain with Joshua by claiming the fight won’t happen because his rival and promoter Eddie Hearn ‘know I’ll go through him like a hot knife through butter’.
The two heavyweight champions have reportedly agreed finances on a two-fight deal though a number of key details have not yet even been discussed.
Speaking on his podcast, super-middleweight world champion Carl Froch said: “I put something on my Insta story – it was a picture of AJ and Fury facing off with a ticking clock above it. I’ve had a message in my direct inbox from Tyson Fury.

“He’s put, ‘The fight won’t happen, the man’s a s***house. He and his promoter know I’ll go through him like a hot knife through butter.’
“So that’s Fury’s response to me putting a picture of them two facing off.
“He genuinely doesn’t think that Joshua or Eddie Hearn want the fight but I think they do. I think AJ has to take the fight or his credibility is gone.”
