We’re now in the second month of 2020 and still no news on The Winds of Winter’s release date. However, some fans wonder if there’s a big hint on the website. Reddit user AnusFrey wrote: “I know it probably won’t amount to anything, but George’s website seems to have had another small update?”
The fan continued: “Maybe I’m just imagining things and it’s always been there, but there now seems to be an advert space?
“Maybe to capitalise on all the web traffic the site will receive when Winds is announced? Lol.”
However, they did later add: “Edit: It’s now gone lol, oh well.”
Nevertheless, it’s certainly intriguing and there has been another interesting update on Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin’s official website before.

George RR Martin books
Just a few months ago a “Next Publication” section appeared on the Books Main Page.
Could it be there ready to put The Winds of Winter’s release date?
Certainly, Martin has shared his own personal deadline of July 29, 2020.
This is when he attends World Con in New Zealand and he wrote on his blog of needing to have The Winds of Winter in his hand when he goes there or fans should lock him away to write.
George RR Martin has two books to go in A Song of Ice and Fire
Meanwhile, A Song of Ice and Fire expert BryndenBFish feels confident The Winds of Winter will be published in 2020 after all, thanks to his sources.
He tweeted in late December: ““All teasing aside, I think 2020 will be the year TWOW gets published.
“I have faith in my sources.”
However, he doubts that Martin will meet his July deadline, with a release date being more likely in late 2020.

A fan asked: “Do you think he’ll make the soft deadline of Worldcon?”
The A Song of Ice and Fire expert replied: “No lol.”
Express.co.uk polled hundreds of fans to discover whether they think he will meet that deadline and most doubted.
The question asked: “Will George RR Martin meet his summer 2020 deadline for The Winds of Winter’s publication?”, with two options of “Yes” and “No”.
Hundreds took part in the poll and 42 per cent think he will meet the deadline, but 58 per cent believe he will miss it.
Martin has a history of missing his A Song of Ice and Fire deadlines, so this shouldn’t be surprising that fans aren’t holding their breath.
It’s been almost a decade since he released A Dance with Dragons, the last book in A Song of Ice and Fire, so hopefully, he’s almost done.
Martin will then have to tackle the final book in the series, A Dream of Spring.
