Workers claim they've found image of Jesus Christ inside branch in miracle

The face of Jesus Christ has been spotted in various unlikely places over the years – now some astonished tree fellers have found what appears to be an image of the Christian Messiah inside a branch.

Across the years there have been apparent apparitions of our Lord and Saviour identified on hot cross buns, Mexican flatbreads and potato scones.

As the son of a carpenter, the Good Lord appears to be particularly fond of sending a sign to the faithful by appearing on tree trunks in this instance.

The latest extraordinary example of what some believe is a divine manifestation occurred this week as Brazilian workman Odimar Souza was pruning trees.

He was making way for new paving on Monte Castelo Avenue in Itaquirai, which is a town in the southwestern state of Mato Grosso do Sul.

The image initially looked like a butterfly but now some are saying it’s as a ‘sign” from God’

Souza, who is the director of the roadworks, told local media outlet Globo that during the work some workers saw a figure in the trunk which at first appeared to be the shape of a butterfly.

But then the chainsaw chain broke, and after it was replaced and the cut was completed a figure said to resemble the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro could be seen in the severed branch.

Souza said: “We cut this same trunk into two pieces after changing the chain, and that was when this piece of perfection appeared.”

Seen clearly, the image certainly resembles a man in a flowing robe, or perhaps a Christmas Tree fairy

He uploaded a number of photos of his extraordinary find online and he told Globo they quickly began making waves, saying: “Even one of my nieces in Italy called me to find out more about the image.”

The local parish and churches have not commented on the situation but several Facebook users were quick to comment, such as Jonas Jose Rodrigues’, who wrote: “My God, it is clear that He lives.”

Fellow social media user Suzi Klassen added on Facebook: “My God this must be a sign.”

However, not everyone was quite so convinced.

For example one killjoy Facebook user simply commented: “burn mark.”
