World War Z's latest update brings cross-play support to PlayStation 4 1

Also adds new Dronemaster class and more.

Developer Saber Interactive’s enormously popular co-op zombie shooter World War Z has just received a new update, this time adding, among other things, full cross-play support between Xbox One, PS4, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

World War Z initially introduced cross-play earlier this year, but only for those on Xbox One and PC. With PlayStation 4 now thrown into the mix, players on all platforms can team up on official servers to tackle PvE missions, as well as the game’s wave-based Horde Mode Z.

Today’s update adds a little more besides expanded cross-play, however, including the first new playable class to be introduced since World War Z’s launch last year.

Known as the Dronemaster, this new class has access to its own personalised drone which can be used to taser and stun zombies in close quarters. The drone can also be customised – to increase its fire power or defensive abilities, for instance, or to enable a special kamikaze attack – via its skill tree in order to suit a range of play styles.

Rounding out World War Z’s latest update is a new low-caliber, semi-automatic grenade launcher known as the ACW-20, as well as new weapon upgrades, various perk rebalances, fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. At least some of those are showcased in the launch video above, with additional details to be found in the accompanying patch notes.

Developer Saber Interactive also notes that World War Z Season Pass and Game of the Year Edition owners will receive the premium Signature Weapons Pack, featuring four new weapon skins. PS4 and Xbox One owners can also purchase this individually if they so choose.
