Coronation Street ‘s Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) could be about to cause his own downfall as he resorts to desperate measures to speak to his wife Yasmeen (Shelley King).

Yasmeen is currently in prison after she lashed out at him with a knife and slashed him in the throat after months of being abused by her husband.

She is looking at serving time for attempted murder after he claimed she attacked him unprovoked, and even said she was the abusive one in the marriage.

Next week, Geoff struggles not being able to have control over his wife as she waits in prison, and decides to contact her.

He returned to work at Speed Daal, infuriating Alya, who knows he abused her, and he overhears her saying that she is waiting foe a call from Yasmeen.

Geoff decides to steal Alya’s phone and Yasmeen is horrified when she hears his voice.

But could he try and offer her a way to stay out of prison in order to get her back under his thumb?

If Geoff does tell the police he wants to drop the charges, this could finally prompt them to further investigate him and.

Fans have been left fuming after the police failed to discover the hidden cameras in the house, which prove Geoff has been abusign his wife.

They could also decided to find Tim’s mother, who it has been suggested he also abused.

Not only that, if Geoff does drop the charges, this could further heighten suspicions from the residents of Weatherfield, who are already wary of him, as they wonder why he has changed his mind.

Soap producer Iain MacLeod previously told Daily Star Online and other press: “Geoff does not find it easy to, ultimately, have Yasmeen outside of this sphere of influence and that becomes quite significant as the legal proceedings unfold.”

He also added Geoff won’t be rehabilitated, saying: “I think ultimately, typically, abusers of this type do not get better and I think it would possibly be a dangerous message to impart to our audience to say, ‘Oh, actually these people can change.'”

Is Geoff going to spark his own undoing as he makes the wrong move?

Corrie continues on Monday at 7.30pm on ITV.
