Man found with dead fish up his bum claims he ‘accidentally sat on it’

A man who was found with a dead fish up his bum claims it found its way there after he “accidentally sat on it”.

The 30-year-old patient travelled to Zhaoqing First People’s Hospital in Guangdong, China, on June 3 after complaining of abdominal pain.

He then had a series of CT and X-ray scans which then found the source of the problem – a freshwater fish.

When asked by understandably baffled nurses how it got there, the man claimed he had accidentally sat on it.

“Do you think I’m an idiot?” one medic reportedly replied.

After the fish – a Mozambique tilapia – was found too big to be removed by an emergency endoscopy, surgeons decided to open up his abdomen.

They then found the creature’s spiny fins had caused ruptures in his large intestines.

Grim footage of the removal procedure – which reportedly caused those in the room to gag due to the smell – shows the unwelcome fish finally being taken out.

“It stinks so much,” one person can be heard saying.

The surgeon then places the bloodied animal onto a sheet next to its victim.

The Mozambique tilapia can grow up to 40 centimetres long, although it is not clear the size of this particular fish.

Having finally finding himself fish-free, the patient is recovering from the surgery.

It remains a mystery of how the creature got there and whether it was dead or alive upon insertion.

Doctors are often finding truly bizarre objects inside people’s bodies.

Last year, Daily Star Online revealed how spoons, fidget spinners and Christmas decorations were just a few of the unusual goods found inside the rectum.
