Random: Team Xbox Has A Bit Of A Soft Spot For Paper Mario On GameCube

Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door

The GameCube era might not have been anywhere near as successful as certain other Nintendo generations, but it was home to a lot of fantastic exclusives.

It’s got such a legacy, in fact, that the official Xbox social media account on Twitter recently went to the extent of suggesting why it’s “more than a worthy pick” as the “best console” – when it’s got great games like Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Eternal Darkness and the fan favourite Paper Mario entry, Thousand-Year Door.

As you can see above, this whole conversation actually stems from an Xbox tweet responding to the “PS5 is better” comments. Xbox thinks the best console is the one you choose to play, and well, that’s how the conversation turned to the GameCube…

In a separate tweet, the same account showed its love for the Thousand-Year Door character Vivian:

While you might not be able to play The Thousand-Year Door on the Nintendo Switch, you can always settle with last year’s release, Paper Mario: The Origami King. We gave the latest entry eight out of ten stars and said it was one of the funniest games in the series.

What would you consider the best console of all time? Do you agree with what team Xbox has to say about this ongoing debate? Leave your own thoughts down below.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War PATCH NOTES: Surprise update is a must on Xbox Series X

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War PATCH NOTES: Surprise update is a must on Xbox Series X

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War developer Treyarch has issued a new update.

The latest Black Ops Cold War update adds a host of new League Play rewards for fans.

It makes improvements to Mauer Der Toten, updates the Nuke Scorestreak, and makes countless MP challenge and UI fixes.

It also ushers in the double XP weekend in both Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops Cold War.

The original update was followed by a second update, specifically for Xbox Series X players.

“We’ve issued a Black Ops Cold War update to address an issue where Xbox Series X players could encounter missing textures, objects, or audio in Mauer der Toten,” Treyarch explains.

“If you’ve experienced this issue, please grab the latest update and restart.”

Indeed, fans are encouraged to download the update before playing next, otherwise the servers won’t connect.

You can see the full list of patch notes for Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War below.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War update patch notes…

• New League Play Rewards including CODcLeague-themed ‘Pro Issue’ Blueprints

• Mauer Der Toten improvements

• Nuke Scorestreak update

• MP Challenge & UI fixes

• 2XP + 2WXP Weekend now live through July 19

• Fixed missing textures, objects, and audio in ‘Mauer der Toten’ on Xbox Series X

The update launches just hours after the release of the Reloaded update for Season 4.

The mid-season update added the Mauer Der Toten Zombies map, which is set after the events of Operation Excision.

The new map sees Requiem agents explore a war-torn Berlin map overrun by zombies.

“Agents will navigate through the dark streets, lit only by spotlights, street lamps, and long-abandoned vehicles, to reach various key landmarks and structures, including a U-Bahn where flaming trains carry undead passengers to parts unknown.

“They won’t be alone, however, if they can find a way to activate a new robotic companion, Klaus, who will help them defeat the undead.”

Other new features include a Wonder Weapon with four unique variants, fast-travel ziplines and new enemies.

Prepare for Your Journey as Weird West Hits Xbox This Fall

Hello Xbox community! We’ve been working away on our debut title Weird West for a while now, and we’re extremely excited to announce that it’s coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S this Fall. As this is the first time we’re writing to you, we figured we’d give you an exclusive look at two of the journeys you’ll be taking during your time in the Old West.

Weird West

Weird West is a third-person immersive sim set in a dark fantasy reimagining of the Old West. Gunslingers, evil stalking the night, ritual performers, and people cursed to live freakish lives fill the world with unique and exciting encounters. And beware: Your ally can quickly become your foe as you hunt for the meaning of the burning mark at the heart of your story.

Weird West features five intertwined Journeys, and here we’ll dip into two of them, the Oneirist and the Pigman.

Weird West

The Oneirists have spent their time in the West perfecting the art of future telling to protect the land from its own dark devices. As a new initiate to their order, you’ll begin the Oneirist journey by slipping into your first vision trance that shows you a much grimmer future than initiates normally see. Your journey won’t be an easy one—a whole future hangs in the balance—but with a heap of magical abilities, alongside a six shooter or two, you’ll have as good a shot as you could hope for to save the West from what’s coming.

Weird West

Moving on to something a little different now: the Pigman journey. You were a man once, sure, but now your body’s been transformed into half-human half-pig by somebody with a bone to pick. Now you’re unsightly. Disgusting to the people you once knew; even entering a town in Weird West will cause folks to shout insults, or worse—sic the law on you. As your journey begins, you’ll thirst for one thing and one thing only: to find the person who did this to you and discover their reasons for doing it. But looking like a monster brings out the worst in people, so don’t expect it to be an easy ride.

Weird West

These are just two of the five journeys you’ll take in Weird West, where no two are the same. As an immersive experience, you’ll create posse’s, form friendships, and enemies.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post, we’re extremely excited to be releasing on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S this Fall. Follow @WolfEyeGames and @devolverdigital for all the latest info on Weird West.

Xbox Family Settings App Adds New Settings to Manage Children’s Spending

When we launched the Xbox Family Settings app last year, our goal was to make it easy for parents and caregivers to manage their children’s gaming while on-the-go. The app is available for free on iOS and Android, and empowers parents to create child accounts, update screen time limits, respond to notifications, manage who their children can play and communicate with and much more – all from their phone. It’s a simple way to find the right balance of gaming in your family’s life and ensure there’s time for school, homework, sports, and time spent with friends.

One of the top pieces of feedback we’ve received from parents about the Xbox Family Settings app is to include options to track and manage kids’ spending. Feedback has ranged from “I’d like to add money to my child’s account as a reward for good grades on their report card. Can I do this from the app?” to “I want to give my kid an allowance to spend money on games through the app,” and “How do I manage how much money my son can spend while he’s gaming? I don’t want any surprises!”

We’ve heard your feedback and today, we’re excited to announce multiple new features for the app which will help you manage your child’s spending:

  • Set spending limits: Parents can manage their children’s spending by adding money to their account directly from the app – you decide how much is approved for your child to spend. The funds you decide to add to your child’s account can apply to any purchase, including games, in-game purchases like skins, and apps.

This feature is also a great way to reward your child. For example, if they complete their weekly chores, you can add money to their account as a weekly allowance. Or add money to their account if they did especially well on a recent math test. Whatever the reason, use this feature to make sure your child stays within budget and to prevent any surprise spending.

3. Spending Add Money
  • Ask to Buy Turn this feature ‘on’ to receive a notification each time your child wants to make a purchase that they don’t have sufficient funds for. Parents can then make the purchase on their child’s behalf (if it’s a game or app), or add money to their account for an in-game purchase, like a new skin or an accessory. And if you don’t want to approve the purchase, simply select the “deny” button on the notification you receive.
2. Spending History
  • View your child’s account balance: Interested in how much money your child has left in their account? At any time, you can review your child’s balance and decide if you’d like to add additional funds to their account.
1. Spending Summary

Parents can also view their child’s spending history to keep track of their recent purchases.

We know it’s important to parents to track and manage their children’s spending when they game to avoid any unexpected surprises or bills. With these new features, parents are empowered to customize their family’s access to spending money in games or in the Microsoft Store to fit what’s right for them. For information about preventing unauthorized purchases on Xbox, visit our support page.

We will continue to add new features to the app that parents want. For example, in May, we added the ability to approve multiplayer access – where you can play and communicate with other gamers – by specific title, directly from your console or in the Xbox Family Settings app. If your child wants to play a specific game in multiplayer mode, they can send a request to unblock multiplayer for that game, which parents can approve or decline.

Family Settings Multiplayer

Download the Xbox Family Settings app today for free for iOS and Android to jump in and easily manage gaming for your family!

For more information about the Xbox Family Settings app, visit Xbox.com/family-app. Download the app to easily manage your child’s console gaming activities.

Sea of Thieves server downtime schedule, update patch notes on Xbox Series X and Xbox One

Sea of Thieves server downtime schedule, update patch notes on Xbox Series X and Xbox One

Sea of Thieves will be taken offline for server maintenance this week.

The Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S multiplayer game will receive a new update on the morning of July 13.

Unfortunately, however, the game will be taken offline in preparation for the new update.

According to the official Sea of Thieves Twitter account, the game will go down for server maintenance at 10am BST UK time.

There’s no word on how long the game will be offline, although it shouldn’t last much longer than 2-hours.

“Attention pirates! We’ll be rolling out a necessary hotfix for Sea of Thieves tomorrow, July 13th, from around 10am BST,” reads a Microsoft tweet.

“Following this there will be an update to download before you can next set sail, so please plan your Voyages accordingly.”

With the full list of patch notes to follow, Rare has provided fans with a list of known issues.

Express Online will update this article with the full list of patch notes on July 13. The known issues can be found below.

Sea of Thieves Xbox Series X/Xbox One known issues…

Tunnels of the Damned – Rejoining a Session

While travelling through the Tunnels of the Damned, rejoining the game after a lost connection may result in visual issues and failed migration to the new area, returning players to their starting location.

New Tall Tale Commendations – Tale Visibility

Players are able to browse Commendations for ‘The Sunken Pearl’ and ‘Dark Brethren’ Tall Tales before they have completed the preceding Tale.

To prevent the experience from being spoiled, avoid reading ahead!

Plunder Pass Reward Unlocking Issue

Players who have purchased the Season Three Plunder Pass may find that rewards are not immediately unlocked when the appropriate level of Seasonal progression is reached.

Logging out and back in should resolve this and cause the unlocked item to appear in the relevant chest.

Ranged and Melee Weapon Hit Detection

In areas of intense action, players may find themselves firing shots or landing strikes that do not cause damage to their targets.

While improvements continue to be delivered during our content updates, this remains a key priority for the team.

FIFA 22 pre-orders, cheapest deals and PS5, Xbox Series X price increase

FIFA 22 pre-orders, cheapest deals and PS5, Xbox Series X price increase

EA Sports has given FIFA 22 an October 1 release date on all platforms.

The upcoming football sim will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and even Google Stadia.

In addition to unveiling FIFA 22 and announcing the release date, EA Sports has also confirmed the price.

And it’s bad news if you want the next-gen version, because the game will be more expensive on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The digital version of FIFA 22 is priced at £69.99 on both PS5 and Xbox Series X. That’s from the official Xbox Store and PSN.

On the plus side, the game will be available at the discounted price of £62.99 for EA Play members.

It’s cheaper on PS4 and Xbox One, where FIFA 22 is priced at £59.99, or £53.99 with EA Play.

Physical copies are cheaper at GAME, where the Standard Edition is priced at £54.99 for PS4 and Xbox One, or £64.99 for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

At the time of writing, Amazon is more expensive than GAME, where copies are priced at £59.99 for PS4 and Xbox One, or £69.99 for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

As a reminder, the Standard Edition comes with the core game, as well as one or two key benefits.

This includes a TOTW 1 Player, Kylian Mbappe Loan Item, FUT Ambassador Loan Player Pick, and a Career Mode Homegrown Talent perk.

The Ultimate Edition, meanwhile, includes FUT Heroes Player item, Ones to Watch Player item, free Xbox Series X|S upgrade, 4600 FIFA Points, Team of the Week 1 Player item, Kylian Mbappe Loan item, FUT Ambassador Loan Player Pick, and a Career Mode Homegrown Talent perk.

As an added bonus, Ultimate Edition pre-order customers will also get early access to the game.

This means you can start playing FIFA 22 on September 27, instead of October 1.

According to the reveal trailer, FIFA 22 will be powered by HyperMotion Technology.

“Powered by HyperMotion, FIFA 22 combines Advanced 11v11 Match Capture and proprietary machine learning technology to deliver the most realistic, fluid and responsive football experience for next-gen consoles and Stadia, unlocking the raw emotion, passion and physicality of the world’s game,” EA explains.

“HyperMotion technology enabled the integration of the first-ever motion capture of 22 professional footballers playing at high intensity. Additionally, EA’s proprietary machine learning algorithm learns from more than 8.7 million frames of advanced match capture, then writes new animations in real time to create organic football movement across a variety of interactions on the pitch.”

As you can tell by some of the pre-order bonuses, Kylian Mbappe will return as the cover star.

More details will be revealed during the EA Play event later this month.
