Sony has made it easier to use a keyboard and mouse as part of your PS4 gaming setup in 2020. And in some instances, having such a setup helps make using features like the PlayStation Store much easier. But something that it can also excel in is when you use these two external peripherals to enjoy your favourite video games. The bad news is that there is only a small number of games that are compatible with this type of gameplay, which may leave you a little stuck.

The list does include some big games, including the following: DayZ, Elder Scrolls Online, Final Fantasy XIV, Overwatch, War Thunder, Neverwinter, DC Universe Online, Paragon, They Are Billions, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

There’s a chance we may have missed a few off the list, and more could be released in the future that have the right Keyboard and Mouse compatibility to be added to the list.

Rogue Company is currently in beta and reportedly offers limited keyboard support, although it’s unclear at this time if this is intentional and will be expanded in the future.

If you do find a game that you prefer to play with a particular set up, here’s how to get your new Keyboard and Mouse working on the PS4:

To use a USB keyboard or mouse with PS4

  • Plug the device into an open USB port on the front of the PS4.
  • The PS4 will recognize the new device and ask who is using it. Choose the profile that you’d like to pair to the device.
  • You can now use the keyboard to navigate the PS4 system menus, input text, browse the web, and more.
  • Keyboard type (language), key repeat delay, and key repeat rate can be changed by going to [Settings] > [Devices] > [External Keyboard].

To use a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse with PS4:

  • From the Dynamic Menu’s Home Screen, press UP on the d-pad.
  • Choose [Settings] > [Devices] > [Bluetooth Devices]. The system will automatically search for nearby Bluetooth devices.
  • Follow the normal pairing process of the Bluetooth device you wish to pair and enter the passkey (if necessary). If you are unsure of this process, please consult the device’s instruction manual.
  • The PS4 will recognize the new device and ask who is using it. Choose the profile that you’d like to pair to the device.
  • You can now use the keyboard to navigate the PS4™ system menus, input text, browse the web, and more.
  • Keyboard type (language), key repeat delay, and key repeat rate can be changed by going to [Settings] > [Devices] > [External Keyboard].
