The hotel website continued: “Arrive after 6pm when more rooms become available and the hotel has a better idea of which rooms are likely to stay empty.
“But don’t be too late or those with the power to grant upgrades might have gone home.”
When asking, there could be a good way of going about it to boost your chances.
Firstly – and rather obviously – be nice. “Being polite, pleasant and smiley goes a long way in life, and t’s no different when it comes to bagging a hotel upgrade,” said LateRooms.
Secondly, it could be a good idea to be specific when requesting a room upgrade.
“Do you want a sea view? A bigger room? Internet access? A fridge? Many of these perks are often available in the better rooms, and it will help the hotel staff if they know exactly what you want.”
