PS5 price and pre-order news as new PlayStation 5 release date hint surfaces

Fans are hoping that the next major reveal from Sony will include the final PS5 price and the first pre-order details for the new console. We’ve already had more information from Microsoft, who confirmed that the Xbox Series X will be launching in November. No set day has been revealed yet but there’s a good chance we will learn more in the coming weeks.

They told fans earlier this month: “There will be thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year.

“And with brand new console features like hardware-accelerated Direct X raytracing, framerates up to 120 frames per second, faster loading times, and Quick Resume for multiple games, playing will look and feel better, no matter which games you choose to play on day one.”

So far, Sony has only said that the PS5 is coming during the holiday period of 2020, which leaves a number of dates and months for the tech giant to choose from.

It seems reasonable to assume that the PS5 will launch around the same time as the Xbox Series X, given how they will be next-gen rivals.

And a new third-party statement seems to back up this line of thinking, even without further information from Sony on the subject.

Epic Games has revealed plans to launch its latest DC Comic skins, telling gamers: “Batman’s archnemesis, The Joker, arrives in Fortnite via The Last Laugh Bundle releasing on November 17. Check out all of The Joker offerings below including The Joker Outfit, Laugh Riot Back Bling, Bad Joke Pickaxe, The Joker’s Revenge Pickaxe, and the Pick a Card Emote.”

But the bit that has caught the attention of gamers is this bit referring to next-gen consoles, which adds: “The Last Laugh Bundle is available for digital or physical purchase and includes 1,000 V-Bucks.

“The retail version is available on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. It will also arrive in time for the release of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X next-generation consoles.”

This final bit about the PS5 and Xbox Series X strongly suggests that both consoles will be launching during November.

While fans are hoping for some big news this week from Sony, there have also been a few disappointments. This includes the confirmation that DeathLoop, recently revealed by developers Arkane Studios, will not be available as a lunch title, like first planned.

A statement from the studio explains: “Our ambition for Deathloop is to deliver a signature Arkane game that takes you to never-before-seen places in a stylish new world. At the same time, the health and safety of everyone at Arkane Lyon remains our top priority. As we’ve adjusted to work-from-home, we found that delivering this new and exciting experience, at the polish and quality level that defines both an Arkane game and a true next-gen experience, is taking longer than normal.”

While we don’t know the final price of the PS5, or when pre-orders will be ready for it, we do know more about will and won’t work with it.
