Man Utd appear to have made Donny van de Beek transfer decision after Brentford friendly

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer showed his trust in Manchester United’s Donny van der Beek, by giving him the captain’s armsband on Wednesday night’s friendly against Brentford.

The newly promoted Bees of Old Trafford drew with a United team that included senior, fringe, and academy plays.

The occasion was lit by some stunning goals, and clips of Andreas Pereira’s 25-yard volley went viral via social media.

Anthony Elanga scored United’s second goal, continuing his positive streak.

In the 2-1 win over Wolves, the 19-year old scored his first senior competitive strike.

Then he scored the 4-2 win by United against Queens Park Rangers.

A year ago, the former Ajax star was linked to a possible move from Ajax. This is just one year after he signed a PS34million transfer deal with Dutch giants.

He was making his debut against Brentford, which was his first appearance since he pulled out of Holland’s Euro 2020 campaign.

Solskjaer suggested Van de Beek might start in United’s preseason match against Preston North End on Saturday.

It is possible that Diogo Dalot, a right-back Portuguese woman from Portugal, will also make an appearance.

Solskjaer has decided to halt game time for those players who had a long summer because of their participation in the Euros and the Copa America.

This means that Harry Maguire and Jadon Sancho will not be appearing on stage.

Raphael Varane is scheduled for an exam before a PS35m transfer from Real Madrid. If his arrival has been confirmed, he will not be featured.

After his draw against Brentford, Solskjaer stated that “it might be too early [for players not yet featured during pre-season]”.

“Maybe one to two sub-appearances. Perhaps we could start Diogo or Donny. Let’s wait and see what the boys do.

Are we on the right track? This is a difficult question to answer.

“The boys have been working hard, and it’s difficult to see how they are doing.

We will continue to work with them when they are back and be available for season start.
