Hamilton release date: When does Hamilton land on Disney Plus? Is there a trailer?

Hamilton is a musical which broke records and stereotypes when it came out. It showed an all-black and ethnic minority cast doing what they do best – performing incredibly for a captivated audience. Now, for those who missed the original cast, a performance will be available on Disney Plus.

Luckily for fans, the release date has been pushed forward.

Hamilton will now be released on Disney Plus on July 3, rather than the original date of October 15.

In February this year, it was announced Disney would be making a movie of Hamilton the Musical with the original Broadway cast.

This includes Miranda himself in the title role, with Leslie Odom Jr in the role of Aaron Burr, Phillipa Soo playing Eliza Hamilton and Jonathan Groff in the role of King George III.

The announcement came on the Hamilton Instagram page, which read: “@Disney to release @HamiltonMusical with the Original Broadway Cast.

“Filmed on stage at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

“In a theater near you. October 15, 2021. #Hamilfilm”

In the Heights, one of Miranda’s previous musicals, is also being adapted into a film, which will see the musical transported to the real-life city it describes.

The movie will be set in Washington Heights, with huge set pieces seeing people dancing and singing in the streets, directed by Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu.

However, that will not be the case for Hamilton, which will instead be a “theatrical experience”.

In a statement, Miranda revealed: “I’m so proud of what [director] Tommy Kail has been able to capture in this filmed version of Hamilton – a live theatrical experience that feels just as immediate in your local movie theatre.

We’re excited to partner with Disney to bring the original Broadway company of Hamilton to the largest audience possible.”

Of course, this may not be what fans have in mind.

However, it will mean whoever was unfortunate enough to miss the original cast in action, or subsequent versions of the show, will get their chance to see it on the big screen.

It may be that, in the future, a full Hamilton adaptation happens, but fans will just have to wait and petition the filmmakers.

However, whatever fans may be expecting, the recently-released trailer certainly promises quite the event.

Hamilton’s recorded live performance will be released on Disney+ on July 3
