Snapchat DOWN - Chat app not working as thousands of users report major outage 1

If you use Snapchat you could be in for a very disappointing night. The hugely popular chat app is currently down and not working for thousands of users across the planet.

Things appear to have begun going wrong at around 10.15 pm BST tonight with reports of a major outage flooding in.

Independent monitoring website, Down Detector, has received thousands of reports that Snapchat is down and not working.

The outage tracker checks social mentions around certain topics to detect online issues across the world.

The Snapchat problems appear to be widespread with reports being posted from areas including the UK, Europe and the US.

Fans have now taken to social media to vent their frustrations about the outage.

Speaking on Twitter one user said: “It’s January 10th 2020 and Snapchat has already been down the first time this year. 10 days Snapchat, you can do better.”

Whilst another added: “Snapchat goes down at the most inconvenient times.”

Snapchat’s support page on Twitter has now confirmed that its service is suffering from some gremlins with a post stating: “We’re aware some Snapchatters are having trouble with Snaps Hang tight, we’re looking into it!”

This latest outage comes just a few weeks after the chat app was hit by another problem.

Fans of Snapchat were left without access to the service on New Year’s Eve – one of the busiest nights of the year for sending messages.

Snapchat was quick to respond to users with the chat app saying: “We’re aware some Snapchatters are having trouble using the app Hang tight, we’re working on it!”
