UK’s smallest town transformed into Oktoberfest-style party town – featuring oompah bands

The UK’s smallest town of Llanwrtyd Wells woke up to the sights, sounds and scents of a Bavarian wonderland this weekend – as the entire town was turned into an Oktoberfest-style party. Designed in partnership with the director of the Bavarian National Museum, Florian Seidel, residents were treated to oompah bands, processions and beer tents in a Teutonic takeover.

Number of Turkmen textile enterprises to be transformed into joint-stock companies

Turkmenistan plans to change the organizational and legal form of its Mary Textile Factory and Türkmendokma (Turkmen Textile) Foreign Trade Enterprise into an open joint-stock company, Trend reports citing Business Turkmenistan.

Vice-Premier of Turkmenistan Chary Gylyjov during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting held online on Friday reported to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the activities on transforming some enterprises of the Ministry of Textile Industry into joint-stock companies, the country’s official media reports.

According to the report, in order to modernize production and expand the range of products, a proposal was submitted to the Head of State to transform the Mary Textile Factory into an open joint-stock company with the Ministry of Textile Industry and the Turkmengala Cotton Spinning Factory as its shareholders.

The Vice-Premier also presented a proposal on privatizing the Türkmendokma Foreign Trade Enterprise and transforming it into an open joint stock company with the Ministry of Textile Industry and the Altyn Asyr Trade Center as its shareholders.

Following the report, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the necessity of measures to ensure favorable conditions for improving the efficiency of state property management and transforming enterprises into joint-stock companies, increasing the share of private sector in the structure of the economy, developing small and medium-sized businesses, addressing the relevant instructions to the Vice-Premier.

Presently, 60 enterprises operate under the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan, with the 16 enterprises functioning as joint stock companies.

Yorkshire tourist attraction transformed into Indiana Jones 5 set

Hold on to your hats, Indiana Jones 5 has started filming in Yorkshire.

And the sleepy North Yorkshire Moors railway has been transformed into a Nazi stronghold as filming gets underway, giving a tantalising clue about the so-far untitled film’s plot.

Harrison Ford, 78, is to dust of his fedora to return as Indy, a remarkable 40-years since the original Raiders of the Last Ark screened at cinemas.

Ford was pictured at Pinewood Studios in London, where a bulk of the filming will take place, last week but he is also set to travel to North Yorkshire for filming at Pickering. TV’s Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge is also set to star in the new film.

Indy’s historic nemesis has been the Nazi regime with it featuring prominently in his previous films.

Two huge tents have also been built in a valley and signs appear to show Covid testing is being carried out on actors and extras.

Despite a plot which is rumoured to centre around a 1960s space race theme, the Yorkshire set appears to show some of the action will take Indy back to the Second World War. That suggests Ford could be transformed by CGI into his younger persona for flashback scenes.

Other stars will include Avengers star Thomas Kretschmann, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook and Shaunette Renée Wilson.

Director James Mangold will film the new movie taking over from Steven Spielberg with the Hollywood legend still remaining as a producer.

The current release date is July 29, 2022.

Ford last appeared as Indy in 2008 in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, when he tackled Soviet era henchmen. He film netted more than £600 million at the box office.

The new film will be the fifth ion the series following on from The Kingdom oif the Crystal Skull, The Last Crusade (1989), The Temple of Doom, (1984) and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981).
